Lai stood in the hospital parking lot taking a big whiff of the cigarette. He was more than frustrated. His girlfriend of eight years decided to break things off all of a sudden. It was weird.

In the past few days, he had been trying to have a good chat with her.

but she was slippery like a fish.

so, he tracked her car.

Lai Tsu knew using his police force’s powers to do this was wrong but he just needed to talk. He wanted to know why she ended it. he tracked her car to this very hospital.

’Today... today I have to impress her and make her mine.’ He pulled out the huge bouquet of flower from his car’s back seat and waited.

A glamorous girl dressed in a tight cheery red dress came out. She had a dazzling smile on her face as she walked over to her car.

This person was his girlfriend but she seemed like a complete stranger to him.

In the past few days, a few things had changed about her. Her sense of style changed drastically. The girl who loved just wearing a white hoodie and shorts was wearing glamorous skin-tight red clothes.

"Ru! Ru wait up!"

She seemed to not have heard him. Giggling she opened her car door.

"Ruelle!!!" he shouted out loud.

This finally caught her attention. Her doe-like eyes glanced his way. But as soon as she saw him her eye narrowed. Her face changed to disgust as she glared at him. "I told you it was over."

"Yeah, you did. But I need to know why? Years. For years we have been together! I have been protecting you from that shithead family of yours, now you are living with them? what happened Ruelle? What happened to you? Did they threaten you? Did they say they would hurt me something? Cuz baby you don’t need to worry about that. I’m a strong man I can deal with them all!" he reached out to hug her but she pushed him away with a scoff.

"I don’t care about the years we spent together. Because now I’m getting married to a dream guy. I don’t want you soiling my plan. If you appear one more time in front of me, I will kill you," she said with the kindest smile on her face.

Lai Tsu froze. Not because he was surprised but because he literally could not move his body. It was like an invisible hand was grabbed his body and was making him stand like this.

Ruelle started her car and backed away from him. All of a sudden, she sped up and dashed right toward him.

Lai couldn’t move. He just watched the fancy red car drive toward him at high speed. He closed his eyes with resignation.

But at the last minute, the car paused.

Ruelle poked her head out the window with a grin.

"r-Ruelle..." eyes wide open he looked at her.

"You freed me from that shit hole so I will spare you just this once. the next tie.... I will definitely run you over~ stay away from me."

Saying this she drove past him and out of the driveway.

He stood like a statue for the longest time before his body finally regained the ability to move.

He panted loudly sitting on the dirty ground. ’She is not Ruelle.... The Ruelle I know is not that cruel....’ With trembling hand, he pulled out his phone and dialed the person he trusted the most.

"Lai if you are calling to whine about your girls I can’t listen. I’m driving..."

"its over," he whispered softly.

Joo Haolei cleared his throat. "what did she say?"

"she’s getting married.... I didn’t call you about that. It’s something else. Haolei, I don’t think she is being herself."

"Huh? I know you are heartbroken man but..."’

"Listen to me! She is not the same Ruelle. Something is different. She... she is like a different person. She almost hit me with her car and made me freeze with her eyes! Like medusa shit man! it was freaky! I’m freaked out!"

The fear and anxiety that had been in his body all flowed out. He couldn’t help but cuss thinking about the dangerous situation two minutes sago.

"Calm down. I need you to slowly tell me what happened?"

"I found Ruelle and went to confront her. She said it was over and ii was kind of sad about it. but all of a sudden, she looked up at me and I froze! Like a statue! Like literally froze! Fuck, it’s scaring the hell out of me." With trembling hand, he took out a cigarette and started to smoke. "Then she backed up her car and almost ran me over. She said that next time she will kill me if I get in her way."

His friend on the other side of the line sighed softly. "so it’s over."

"it’s not about that! That girl is not my Ruelle! She Is not my sweet sweet pumpkin! She... I think she is possessed. Dude, we need to do something. We need to bring my girl back." he shot up and ran back to his car.

"don’t do anything impulsive. I’m on the way back. we’ll talk."

"you’re on the way?"

"yeah,"

Now that he keenly listened, he was able to hear the soft sound of someone talking besides Haolei. "you’re with someone?"

"My brother,"

"Brother?" Lai frowned. "You don’t have a brother? Are you high?"

"I have one now. My family adopted the recent victim from that case. Jung shi, you remember?"

Lai Tsu started his car. "oh, that kid. Is he okay now? Did you get anything out of him? The commissioner is putting pressure dude. We have to give them answers soon. Ask him what happened in that house"

"he doesn’t remember anything. The doctor said it was due to his head trauma. He might get his memory back... or he might not. I already tried asking him. He has no clue what happened in there. I don’t wish for him to relive that trauma again."

"Fine. We’ll meet for drinks tonight? The usual lace?"

"Yeah. I’ll help soothe your wounded heart. Haha."

"Shut up. we are meeting to create a plan to bring my girlfriend back. I’ll come pick you up."

"Sure,"

Lai Tsu cut the call. His curious mind started to browse through the internet trying to find out about this weird phenomenon.

Joo Haolei cut the call with a small frown.

"What is it?" Eric looked at him curiously.

"He said his girlfriend might be possessed. Is it true that ghosts can possess people?" Haolei tightly clenched the steering wheel.

Eric just shrugged. "I don’t know. the monk didn’t teach me that thing. But I can find out about it for you." He searched through his precious bag and took out the yin and yang book. He flipped through it searching for anything related to this.

But the book only talked about cultivation and how to exorcist using that Yin and yang cultivation method.

Nothing more about ghost possession was explained in it.

Eric glanced at the ghost boy who had hidden in that mirror’s shard. "do you know anything about it?"

The ghost boy appeared in front of him sitting in the leg of the front seat.

That space looked cramped but he was making himself small trying to fit in that spot.

Seeing his pitiful condition Eric scooted a little bit closer to the door giving him a bit of space on his seat. "sit here. tell me what you know of it,"

The ghost boy hesitantly sat down next to him. "ah... ghost...can."

"so, ghosts can possess people?"

The ghost boy nodded.

"Is there any special condition? Can we exorcist a ghost like that?"

the ghost boy nodded and then shook his head.

"Was that nod for the first question?"

Th ghost boy nodded again. "Strong...." He pointed to himself and then at Eric. "weak."

Eric frowned. "I know I’m weak you don’t have to remind me of it again."

the ghost boy panicked and shook his head vigorously. "no! ghost... strong...’ he pointed to himself. "hu...man.... weak,"

"oh, so the ghost has to be strong and the human has to be weak to have their possess right?"

Smiling the ghost boy gave him a thumbs up.

"Heard that brother. Was your friend’s girlfriend weak in any way?"

"In what ways?"

"Physically? or mentally?"

Haolei shook his head. "She is the strongest woman I know of. She escaped from her abusive family, mind you they are fucking rich but she ran away from them and lived with Lai. Eight years, they have been together . They even made plans to get married."

"so what happened now? Is it your friend’s fault?"

"Lai is stupid and sometimes irregular in their meetings. Other than that, he is okay. Even when I spoke to her last time Ruelle seemed to be fine." He looked at Eric with a worried gaze. "did you really think she is possessed?"

"I won’t know for sure unless I look at her face." Because right now he could see ghosts.

Even looking out the window Eric could see a lot of ghosts hanging out with bloody wounds all over their body. Most of them were due to traffic accidents. These ghosts looked so gruesome to look at.

So, Eric just closed his eyes and meditated.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes... no, not all ghosts look pretty."
