Chapter 203: Chapter 203 - Planning his departure
By that night Eric heard a car roll into the front yard. He curiously poked his head to the side to take a look out the window.
"Grandpa is back," Haolei excitedly shot up and went to the door and so did his grandmother.
Eric just sat there awkwardly not knowing what to do.
Soon a middle-aged man with a pot belly walked in with two of them fussing him beside him. The grandma pulled off her husband’s coat and his grandson helped remove his hat, revealing his slightly balding head. His hair had already turned snow white with only a few specks of black hairs splashed here and there.
Eric eyes met his.
The grandpa froze. "who is this young lad?"
"Our new family member," Haolei added, massaging his grandad’s shoulders. "I Decided to adopt him as my brother. He is your new grandson now. Jung, come here, meet your grandad."
Eric was complexly shocked. He had only discussed about being his family with Haolei even his grandma had clue about it. he suddenly bluntly instructed him as a grandson. He did not know how to act in front of the old man.
’my dear darling brother, even in this birth you are silly sweet....’
He stepped up to him with an award smile. "h-hello. I’m Jung Shi...."
The grandpa looked him up and down. Suddenly his frowning lips turned up. "ah I knew he looked familiar he looks an awful lot like our Haolei!"
"I know right honey? He looks exactly like our young hao." Grandma chimed in.
Eric just awkwardly smiled at them. ’Am I really that similar to Haolei. his brother in this life, was a tall man with a slight bit of muscles on his body while he was a short boy with no muscles whatsoever.
’Maybe its is a curse. in my last life as well Gwyn was big and strong while I looked like a weakling...’
The grandpa hobbled up to him and patted his shoulders. "Where did you kidnap this child huh Haolei? from the market? He looks like a child who would follow others for candy. Hahaha." The man laughed at his own joke and plopped on the small dining table chair...
Eric laughed along with him. ’But that did happen.... But I wonder how that monk got a hold of the original owner? Dead system any ideas?’
{’no,’}
’Dude you are weirdly silent nowadays. It worries me. Are you screaming and plotting my death all these days.’
{’I thought of giving you a small break after you went through depression. Well looks like my host is very set on overworking. Do you wish for me to retrieve tasks of you, host?’
Eric started to sweat. ’No! please let me have my vacation!’
{then shut up and don’t disturb me... I’m doing something very important right now. I’ll get back to you when you actually meet Bai. Only then would I be able to retrieve target tasks for you from the main system.’}
’Great, go on then. Leave~" Eric sent him off before the trashy system gave him a trashy task.
{’oh before I leave I want to remind you something. That yin yang book read it. it will be very useful in the coming days. If you don’t, you might lose your life and I might lose my promotion. Go read it like a diligent little student you are,’}
Eric gritted his teeth silently. ’Promotion is all you care about, you bozo!’
But he did have peace of mind when the system did not give him random life-threatening tasks.
They all sat on the dining chair to eat dinner. The grandpa cheerfully talked to them all about his experience in the nearby village. Haolei had previously mentioned that he had left to sell some of their harvests and seemed like grandpa had made a great sale.
Hearing their genuinely heartwarming conversation Eric smiled softly.
Grandpa suddenly looks his way. "What do you do young lad? What grade are you?"
"I’m fifteen.... I... I don’t go to school." He shrugged.
"You don’t go to school?! What an atrocity! You must go to school! Don’t think you can live our lives, boy, it’s harder for a farmer to make money. You have to get a good education and earn a lot more as a computer person..." the old man exaggeratedly sighed.
"Grandad.... he has special conditions. Please don’t ask him more," Haolei chipped in.
"don’t tell me what to do. I’m just lecturing the lad. I’m not scolding him."
"I do wish to go to school," Eric whispered softly. "I wish to go to the city and stay with brother."
Both grandpa and grandma look his way. "There is a good school here," grandma offered,
But Eric shook his head adamantly. Bai was in the city. he was sure of that. Now if he could leave this village along with Haolei he could take some time to search for his lover. "I have someone I need to find in the city."
"Bai Yuri?" Haolei frowned slightly.
"Hmm... he is very important to me. He is currently very sick right now and I have the medicine to cure him. All I have to d is meet him. Just for a minute... one minute is all I need to wake him up from his coma... so brother, can you talk to the Bai’s again. Tell him something... anything. I just want to meet him," he blinked his eyes pitifully at him.
"t-this..." Haolei hesitantly looked at his grandmother.
She in turn slightly slapped his arm. "He only wants to go and meet his friend. What is wrong with that? Set up a meeting..." she leaned slightly close to Haolei and whispered. "He might feel sad meeting his dying friend stay close to him, okay?"
Haolei had to give in.
They all had their dinner and set off to sleep.
Haolei’s vacation leaves only extended for five days. Four of which he spent on the new murder case. After another day with his grandparents, he was prepared to leave to the city.
This time Jung would be coming along with him.
Laying on the bed he started to think of which school to join him. It was the middle of the term he was not sure of the schools even accepted admissions.
"Hey... didn’t that guy boast about being a teacher. Maybe he can get Jung into his school." He smirked widely when the plan came together.
He set his mind on calling his school friends to find out about admissions and went to sleep.
