Chapter 202: Chapter 202 - Confess part 2
"Who burned him?" Eric repeated the question. For he too was confused by this. The time he left that house there was a whole corpse on the ground and now t was all turned into a bit of ash and bones.
’is this a hard-core fantasy setting? A cultivator’s body turns to ashes?’ he looked at the ghost boy. "Do you have any clue about this?"
The ghost boy shook his head.
Haolei looked at him and then at the empty space next to him. "w-who are you talking to?"
Eric froze. "Brother.... I’m going to be honest with you. Do you trust me? Can I trust you not to throw me into a loony bin?"
Haolei frowned. "I’ll never throw you into the loony bin. Why would you think that? Even if you have something wrong with you, we shall... try to solve it." he looked at him directly in the eyes and smiled. "so, trust me with anything."
Eric was slightly on the fence about revealing his secret. But since Haolei trusts him, he was ready to break his silence. He licked his dry lips and peered up at him. "I...."
"yes go on," Haolei held up his palm. "Do you wish to hold hands?"
"no, its okay..." Eric sat back again, closing his eyes. ’Why is it hard to admit I can see ghost. Darn, I just admitted to him that I killed someone. It’s not that hard...’ he looked up at Haolei. ’What if he thinks I’m a freak....’
Without his permission, Haolei held his hand. "I will trust you completely. You can tell me anything."
Eric took a deep breath. "Phew here it goes... I... I can... I can actually see ghosts." He said and closed his eyes tightly.
The grip on his hand slightly tightened.
Haolei gently touched the top of his head. "You can see ghosts?"
Eric nodded his head. "I can see them only recently. Until now I was only able to see the shadow of the ghosts but now, I can see everything clearly. Actually, there is a ghost right next to us," he urgently added.
Haolei looked around them. He did not see anyone or even a small trace of a ghost. But he had a feeling that Jung was not kidding about this. "I see... can you open your eyes and tell me more about it?"
Eric slightly peaked through one of his eyes. He gauged his brother’s reaction. Haolei did not look panicked or shocked. "do you not believe me?"
"I believe you." Haolei whispered with a soft smile.
"Then..... aren’t you scared? There is an actual ghost in your house and I bought it here. if it was anyone normal, they would definitely act different," he looked at him with a frown.
Haolei just frowned. "I know that there is life after death. So, the existence of ghosts is quite normal. Even though I have never seen one, I believe you."
Eric was flabbergasted. "you’re really not scared...... the first time I saw him I was so sacred that I almost shit my pants," he whispered with a small laugh.
"Is he that scary?""
"Nah like I said until recently he was just a dark shadow. Imagine seeing that dark shadow by the foot of your tatami mat late at night," he shuddered just thinking of their first meeting.
The ghost boy looked at him apologetically. "Sorry..." he said hoarsely.
"its okay I don’t fault you, actually. Without you I would have been trapped in that place and been another set of bones in there," he gave him an assuring smile.
The young boy’s face lit up with a dazzling smile. He actually looked quite beautiful. ’how did that monk even have the heart to kill such a beautiful child? That freak he has a simple death. I should have gouged his eyes out.’
Haolei watched him converse with the ghost boy curiously. He gazed at the general direction of the ghost boy and bowed slightly. "Thank you for saving my brother."
The ghost boy looked flustered by the sudden attention. He waved his hand shyly at him.
"He said it was alright." Eric translated it for him.
Even so Haolei bowed again. "If not for you I would not have met my brother in my life. Thank you for that too... and I’m sorry you died in there."
Eric sighed. "His bones were under that apple tree close to the walls. Die you guys retrieve it?"
"yes, we found a lot of information because of his... body. The kidnaped had actually laced the fruits with a strong sleeping medicine. Your friend died sleeping. At least it was not a painful death,"
Eric gaped up at him. "oh, that fucking monk! he actually tried to feed me those fruits early that morning. I secretly stashed it in my pants. Thank god for that. Or else I would have died without even realizing it." he felt a chill on his back.
Looking back, he gazed at the direction of the house. ’Fucking hell, his ghost is strong. I can feel it even form here...’
Haolei frowned slightly. "Grandma cleaned up your body so we did not find the fruits. Ill send in new information to the precinct. Don’t worry I will not involve you." On his way to his room, he paused. "Umm can you ask your friend his name? we are still unable to identify the corpses."
Eric raised a brow at him. "What is your name? sorry I never asked."
He silently shook his head. Hesitantly he looked at his hands and ped his mouth without speaking anything.
"You don’t know?"
The ghost boy nodded.
"He says he doesn’t remember anything. I think he has been dead for quite a while and forgotten all about his life..." Eric said with a small sigh. He dearly wished to hug the ghost boy but their different identities stopped them from even touching. "don’t you guys do a DNA testing and match it with the missing people list?"
"We do.... But most of the corpses were completely decomposed because they have been under a tree for so long......Only his corpse was left slightly intact. We can try to find something but the DNA testing was useless..." Haolei sadly looked his way. "Tell your friend I will find his identity soon."
"Thanks brother," Eric smiled back at him.
After Haolei disappeared into his room Eric looked at the ghost boy. "After we find your family you would leave this world?"’
Ghost boy nodded. "say... byebye..."
