Chapter 191: Chapter 191 - Mysterious house

Overnight they took the young boy to the hospital next town and got him admitted. His body was wounded in a very bad state. The doctor informed them that one of his lungs had collapsed when the broken rib punctured it.

So they had to operate on him.

Without a second hesitation, Joo Haolei agreed to proceed with it.

"Does the boy have any preexisting condition?"

"I... I don’t know. We just found him in front of our house.

The doctor gave him a complicated look. "He looks underage and there are signs of abuse. We might have to call the cops on this. Just let them know whatever info you guys have on him."

"I’m a cop." Joo Haolei added. He touched his aching heart and took a deep breath to calm down. "Abuse? Sexually?"

"No. just physically. His body does not have traces of sexual abuse. If you want, I can get a rape kit for him." The doctor added.

"Please do. I want you to be through. We need all the clues we can get." Joo Haolei looked in through the surgery room at the young boy who was pale as a sheet of paper. His heart started to pound so loudly. It felt like he was having a heart attack just looking at his pitiful state. "I’ll try to find out who abused him. Just... just take care of his health. Don’t let anything happen to him."

"Got it," the doctor gave him a lasting look before he entered the operation room.

Joo Haolei glanced at his grandma who was sitting in the waiting room. He handed her his credit card. "Use this to pay for his surgery. I’ll have to make a small trip back home to find out something. Will you be okay here, grandma?"

"I’ll be fine. But what about the child? Is he okay now?"

"He is having a small surgery. He will be fine. I’ll find out more info about him. Just stay put with uncle chao got it?" he gave a look at his middle-aged neighbor.

Their families had been friends and helping each other out since a young age, so he was much more comfortable with leaving his grandma with the man.

"Go on boy, I’ll take care of things here. go and find out who did that to that boy."

"hmm..."

With a deep frown, he headed back home.

The first thing he needed to find out is where the child came from. The boy had a very severe injury on his legs so it was not possible for him to have walked very far. The place he must have been kept or dumped must be close.

He just needed to find that to get some clues.

He stood by the gate looking at the blood stains. Even though his grandma had washed away the blood traces by accident he could still see a bit of dried blood on the muddy ground.

He glanced back. the boy had left a trail behind.

He followed the blood droplets back to an abandoned road.

This was one of the old muddy roads of the past. Many people used to go through this way to get to the nearby village but after the new commercial roads were built this path was completely left behind. And since the land nearby was not that great for cultivation it was completely abandoned.

He walked until the trail ended.

The blood droplet came to a stop close to a wall.

It was about seven-foot tall, built with huge boulders with cement wedged in between. It looked like it was an old house.

He started to walk around searching for an entrance but he couldn’t spot any.

Stunned, he looked at the wall. "Why is there a house with no entrance in this place? What’s going on?"

He could see a huge canopy of an apple tree hanging in the sides of the walls. A few red apples hung low.

Joo Haolei frowned even more. It was not the season for apples and the soil nearby was completely fucked. There was no possibility of growing apple trees here.

Suspicion grew in his heart.

Without a second delay, he swiftly climbed over the wall and jumped in.

Inside the walls, there were so many fruit trees. Appels, oranges papaya.... Tropical and other sessional fruits were flourishing in here.

At the gardens, exit was a moon gate. he noticed that there were a few footprints on the ground. Hurriedly wearing his gloves, he started to search through the clues.

The size of the print was that of a young child. probably it was the child they rescued.

He just needed to confirm that.

"Who lives in here..." he whispered, walking toward the moon gate.

He had spent all his younger age in this village but he had never seen or heard of a house like this before. If he hadn’t followed the bloody trail, he would have definitely missed it.

It was weird...

Their village was small. Everyone knew everyone.

It was impossible to live in here without having contact with others,

So having a secluded house in this small village was a weird occurrence. That too without a door. It was totally freaky.

He stepped in. "is anyone home? hello!"

Inside the house were a small pond and a few rooms were scattered around on the sides of the hallway.

He entered the first room close to the pond. It was small like a storeroom. But he spotted a tatami mat that looked well used.

"Someone lived in here..." he closed the door behind him and checked the back of the door. There was a lock on the outside but on the inside, there was no latch.

It would have been so easy to keep a person locked up in here.

Joo Haolei stepped up the matt and checked the through the small cloth bag.

Inside, he only saw a small book and other miscellaneous things. He then opened the book up and flipped through it.

On the first page was the child’s name written in a beautiful handwriting

Jung Shi.

"His name is Jung." He immediately made a call to his colleague who worked in the nearby precinct. "Search up Jung Shi for me. I need you to get all the information you can."

placing the book in the bag he then proceeded to walk into the other rooms. the house did not have a kitchen but it did have a large spacious room that looked like a meditation room. On the wall hung two huge swords with red tassels tied to the end.

He had seen them before. It was the ones exorcists use.

He took a picture of it and then moved on to the other rooms.

The other room was quite plain with only one trunk in the corner.

He opened it and checked through the clothes. Under it he saw something black and shiny

He tossed all the clothes out. at the bottom of the trunk there were four shiny blades in there.

"fuck...." He picked them up. they looked like a weird stone of some kind and had a jagged end. He placed the back in the trunk and walked around the house.

There were traces of two people living in there. One was obviously the boy and the other was the abuser.

That person was nowhere to be seen.

After searching for a while Joo Haolei walked out to the garden.

Right then he spotted something on the ground.

It was a dagger by the apple tree.

He ran to it and carefully picked it up. there was fresh blood on it. And there were also traces of crusty blood on it. he sniffed it

Joo Haolei made another call to his friend. "Send in an investigation team."

"Why man? you were supposed to be on a break. why are you meddling around?"

"Shithead, listen to me. I think there is something weird going on in the house. I found a blood-stained knife!"

"You live in the village buddy. Everyone uses knives to kill chickens and chickens have blood!!!" his friend said in frustration.

"I know how to differentiate human blood and animal blood darn it!" Joo Haolei took a deep breath. "If you don’t sent in an investigation team right now, I’ll call your superiors got it?"

"Fine meanie..." his friend cut the call.

Joo Haolei looked at the dagger carefully. It had a bit of flesh stuck to it. "What the hell happened in this house?"

He bagged it up as well.

Since finding the dagger he became much more cautious so he walked around again in the garden to every corner.

Just behind that apple tree, he found something weird. It was a piece of blue wrap up robe.

He carefully picked it up.

And under it was a pile of ashes and bones.

those bones were definitely human.

A simple investigation of domestic abuse became a murder case.

he was quite stunned by this.

Sighing, he called his friend again. "Send it a sniff dogs as well."

"Dude! Why?"

"I found human bones and don’t you dare say I can’t identify them. I’ve seen a lot of human bones in my life, your stupid bozo. Now send in a force.! This place must be searched thoroughly every nook and cranny,"
