Chapter 185: Chapter 185 - The fruit trees
The ghost boy seemed very excited about leading him somewhere.
Eric snuck out of his room and walked over to the hallways heading to the moon gate that led to the garden.
As they neared the moon gate, the ghost boy easily passed through the barrier while Eric was stuck unable to break the barrier. He stood there hesitantly looking at the dagger.
If he broke the seal right now it is highly possible that the monk will learn of his escape attempt. He did not know if it was the right thing to do.
Standing by the moon gate, he glanced at the ghost boy. "Can you just show me where the way is?"
The ghost boy looked at him hesitantly.
"Just show me. I don’t wish to waste one of the uses of this thing," he whispered softly.
The ghost boy nodded and energetically started to flow over to a corner of the wall.
But all of a sudden, he paused close to an apple tree.
"Is the exit there? By the tree?"
Eric looked at the tree curiously. Its branches were quite high, passing above the walls.
"Why didn’t I think of this! I could have climbed out by scaling a tree! Ghost boy you are a genius!!" he cheerfully shouted.
The ghost boy looked quite distracted.
His eyes fell on the tree’s root. He noticed a bit of that familiar black speck float out it.
Black specks of that energy started to flit out of the ghost as well. his black face had two red lines of tears flowing down.
Eric paused. "What is it?"
Every time he asked the ghost boy about his death, he would emit those particles.
’What is he looking at?’
Eric keenly looked at the tree’s root. He could see a cloth sticking out of from the ground. ’What is that?’ he narrowed his eyes and took a look.
under the moonlight, he spotted a bony hand sticking out from under the clothes.
"Fuck... a-are you buried there?"
The ghost boy glanced at him and nodded.
"Shit...." Eric looked at the other trees. All of the fruit tress had a few black specks flying out of it. The whole garden looked eerie. "a-are there corpses all over this garden?"
The ghost boy moved closer to him and nodded. "Run..." he whispered to him.
"Yeah... that’s what I’m trying to do."
"Run!" he said and dissipated.
"Why...."
"Jung? What are you doing out there?"
Hearing that voice Eric froze up completely. He hurriedly shoved the dagger into his pants hoping and praying it won’t cut into his genitals. Subtly he spat out a bit of saliva and smeared it on his pants.
Turning over he placed his hands on his genitals. "Master...." He shyly whispered.
"What are you doing? Out here, Jung? Are you trying to leave?"
The Taoist monk’s eyes became dangerous. That weird black speck started to fly out of him.
For the first time in his life, Eric feared someone so much. He moved back, stuttering. "This... I...master."
"If you don’t give me an explanation, I will shut you up in the ice room!"
"I peed myself!!!" he removed his hand and showed him that wet spot.
The dangerous aura around that monk disappeared. "What?"
"I peed myself and wet my pants. I was... embarrassed to call for you master..... so I came out to wash up. I’m so sorry for breaking the rules master. I only wanted to wash my pants that’s all."
The monk walked up to him.
Eric backed up leaning against the barrier. His heart was pounding in his chest. ’Come on believe that lie. don’t want you to put up even more barriers..."
"Why did you pee? You don’t have a habit of bed wetting," with his eyes narrowed the monk peered down at him.
"I.. I drank a bit of well water before heading to sleep. I wanted to pee... but I know the door was locked for my safety so I.... I’m so sorry master. I will clean up after myself. I’m so sorry," he lowered his head.
A fine layer of sweat covered his forehead.
he anxiously glanced at the monk’s foot. ’don’t kill me, don’t kill me...’ he mentally prayed.
The monk only placed a hand on the back of his neck. He lifted his head up. "The door wasn’t locked?"
"It wasn’t locked, master. If I had known I would have gone to the bathroom to relieve myself. I’m so sorry."
The monk looked at him skeptically for a moment and then smiled. "it’s just a small issue.... Come let’s go in, its cold out here,"
Eric trembled as he placed a hand on his back.
Slowly the monk led him back to his room.
Eric felt a sense of relief knowing that he wasn’t punched back into that ice cave.
The Taoist monk paused by his door. "There is a perfectly beautiful pond in front of your room, why did you go out?" he asked with a strange smile on his face.
Eric was unfazed. "My pee would contaminate that water and kill the lotuses." He whispered with a small pout. "Am I allowed to bathe in it master?"
"No, you are not." The monk said and gestured for him to go in. "sleep well. You only have two days until your birthday. Work hard Jung~" he closed the door after him.
Eric obediently went back to his tatami mat and laid down. His heart rate was still high until now he was unable to calm down.
In his last world, he had seen a lot of criminals but he had never seen dead bodies and he had never met a murderer before!!!
The monk acted as kind in front of him but this guy committed such a heinous crime.
Every tree had that black specks floating above it. That could only mean that there was a dead body under each tree!!!!
there were almost twenty fruit trees in the garden!!!!!!
’Wait.... Those fruit! I have been eating these fruits all along!!!!!!! Fucking hell!!!!!’ Eric shot up.
The urge to puke came up, but he had nothing in his stomach. All the fruits he had eaten in the morning had already been digested.
’how many did he kill... fucking hell this is scary as fuck!’ he took a deep breath.
The ghost boy said that the monk killed him for his yin energy.
’That bloody monk is waiting for my fifteenth birthday day so anxiously... fuck I’m so screwed...’
His situation is similar to that of Hansell and Gretel. He was stuck in a witch’s cave and fed until he was plumbed up.
But in his case, he was made to cultivate until he was full of yin energy for that guy to consume him.
Eric patted his chest. "I have to calm myself. Panicking will only make it worse...lest change the initial plan. I have to escape tomorrow.’
There were three days until his birthday!!
The monk was anxiously waiting for that day. It was likely that monk will be fully vigilant and will not give him any leeway for him to escape.
A sense of urgency filled him.
He was unable to calm himself down.
"System connect with Bai...." He closed his eyes.
The next second he appeared in that familiar white space.
Unlike usual Bai came to him and glanced at him from top to bottom. "You are not hurt... but why do you look like you saw a ghost?"
"I saw a ghost alright. I saw twenty bodies!! That monk has killed so many people! They are all buried under the trees!!! Bai I’m so fucked!" he hugged him tightly.
Only after feeling his love’s warmth was, he able to calm down.
Bai gently caressed the top of his head. "Tell me what you know. We can find a way out,"
"hmm..."
Eric sat down on the ground and started to draw the floor map of that monk’s house and explained everything to him.
"This moon gate is closed?"
"yes, sealed with an invisible barrier. I was not able to go through it. But that ghost boy could. He showed me a tree. It is taller than the walls. if I try to climb over the walls I can escape out of there."
"it’s too risky. Ave you climbed a tree before?"
"Yeah, the apple tree had low-hanging branches, so I think I will do okay,"
Bai looked at him with a frown. "What about that monk? He was able to track you today. what if he will do that later on?"
"I hope he doesn’t wake up. I guess I can leave the ghost boy close to him."
"Idiot! That guy is an exoticist remember? You said so."
Eric pouted. He had completely forgotten that the monk was capable of killing ghosts. "Then why did he not kill the ghost boy? He is a powerful exorcist. If he could he would have killed off any ghost in his house."
After saying that only Eric realized something.
He did not see any other ghosts in that house because the monk did exoticist them.
As for the ghost boy, he must have hidden in that mirror shard and in his room away from that monk.
"Shit... we need to plan it out thoroughly. Or else things could go haywire."
Bai suddenly held his hand. "We will plan everything. Don’t be scared...."
Eric jumped on him and hugged him tightly. "What will I do without you?"
"s-silly... I am only giving you advice."
"Yeah, that’s all I wanted. Emotional support. Aaron, no Bai I really can’t do anything without you... I think you have cast some dark spell on me."
