Chapter 184: Chapter 184 - The killer
Eric enjoyed the hug with a huge grin on his face.
Bai shyly pushed him away. "Wait you are only fifteen?!"
"Yeah, my body is only fifteen. I’m pretty sure my soul is at least forty years old. Not bad for being in my forties ah," Eric cheerfully smiled up at him.
Bai Yuri just blinked. "Everything about you is weird."
Eric just shrugged and continued probing about his life. Bai was usually quite closed off. he would not share anything about himself. but as days went on, he started to open up.
It was the first time Bai actually responded well to him. He asked questions and even talked a bit about himself. From what he told; Bai Yuri seems like a well-off kid.
Eric could notice a pattern here.
His lover was rich in both of his life.
’Maybe it’s because he is lucky....’ He gently pinched Bai’s face.
"it’s getting late, go back," Bai pushed his hand away.
Eric hurriedly grabbed his retreating hand. "can’t I stay here for a while?"
"No... I don’t think it’s good to stay here for long. So, go. Find out as much as you can about your surroundings. I’ll help you escape."
"Aww thanks, darling," he took this chance to lean forward and kiss the side of his face.
Bai blushingly glared at him. "I give you an inch you take a mile!"
"What can I say, I learned that all from you. You are the bad influence here buddy," grinning Eric disappeared from the white world.
He sat up in the small room with a big grin on his face. "yes~ let’s start our escape plan. System, go and start searching for anything that can break the barrier."
{starting the search.....’}
"yeah, yeah take your fun time doing it." He stood up and stretched his back.
Three days of continuous cultivation really refreshed his mind and body. He felt very energized at all times. Initially, he had been skeptical about his one-meal-per-day diet but after a while he got used to it.
Because he did not feel hungry at all.
His body was able to adjust itself with the intake of energy.
Energized Eric walked out of his room. Before that monk could even come to pick him up, he directly went to the kitchen where that man was cutting his daily dosage of fruits.
"you’re up early,"
Smiling Eric walked up to him.
The monk gave him a small leaf plate filled with papaya and apple slices.
He ate it with relish. While doing so he observed the monk. He rarely ate anything. Even the fruits he cut for him were for him alone. The Taoist monk never ate much.
’This is a mysterious world .... But this only means that I need to prepare myself for the worst. Who knows how shitty this pace is...’
He silently glanced up at the monk. "master, what if I can’t achieve the third level before my birthday..... what will happen?"
The monk’s expression distorted for a second. He glared at him. "Why? You can’t reach it before that! You only have two days until your birthday! You better focus on cultivating!"
Eric lowered his head and nodded.
Every time he would breach the topic of his fifteenth birthday, the monk would get icky. He would start to scream and even threaten to throw him back into that ice room.
Eric started to get suspicious about his so-called birthday.
’this monk mentioned that it’s a special day for something..... I need to stay extra cautious’ he finished his breakfast and started to cultivate as usual.
That night when he was sent to his room, the system gave him a notification that the search result has been found.
Sitting down on his tatami mat Eric started to browse through the options.
{’the search result is here~
1: Rakshasa blade:
Can cut through anything like butter.
Cost: 50 coins
Number of uses: 5
2. Destruction array:
This array, when applied on a surface can destroy anything in its path
Cost: 150 coins
Number of uses: 1’}
{’only these two opinions seem to be appropriate for your escape host. Please choose wisely’}
Eric thoughtfully looked at them both. "That knife, can it cut through that barrier?"
{’it can. But I am not hundred percent sure.’}
"Tsk, what a waste. You can’t even be sure of what your products are used for?"
{’host we have an infinite number of products. I can’t keep in mind what all those products use is, can I?’}
Eric scoffed. when he was a system, he knew most of the products available. But to be honest his host only had about a hundred products or so available in his market place.
"That is literally your job buddy." Sighing, Eric reluctantly chose the blade. It had five uses and was cost-effective.
That array sounds awesome though but it wasn’t worth 150 coins since its one time use only.
As soon as he made him choose a bald dagger appeared out of nowhere and landed o his lap.
The dagger did not even have a sheath, it was only covered with a dirty blood-stained cloth.
With a frown, he slowly opened it. The blade’s body was rusted and stained with crusty blood.
"Fuck are you giving me a used product? Ew, I want a refund....."
{’host that blood is what makes this product very powerful. do not underestimate it.’}
"Yeah right. I bet it is just your reason to give me a used and probably deteriorating product," he placed the dagger on his side and wiped away the rust off his hand.
The ghost boy appeared all of a sudden and looked at it curiously.
"You like it?"
The ghost boy nodded and reached forward to touch t.
Eric took it in his hand and smiled at him. "You can touch It if you answer my question. No running away allowed got it?"
The ghost boy looked hesitantly. His whole form trembled slightly.
"I know you are shy, but you have to answer me. Why do you want me to run?"
The ghost boy once again looked at his mirror shard.
Eric instantly picked it up and hugged it in his lap. "No! not allowed. You have to answer me. After that, you can run back inside."
The ghost boy plopped down on the mat with his head lowered.
Taking this chance, Eric softly whispered, "is that monk dangerous to me?"
The ghost boy’s head snapped up. he nodded violently.
Ominous-looking black spots started to emit out of his small figure.
Eric’s heart started to pound loudly as he whispered the next question. "Did that monk kill you?"
The ghost boy nodded slowly.
"Fuck...." Eric was in shock. He knew something was wrong with that monk but he didn’t expect that man to be a murderer!
Taking a deep breath, he maintained his calm. "Why did he kill you?"
"Yin," the ghost boy whispered softly.
"Yin? Like yin energy? Did he kill you for your yin energy!"
The boy nodded.
"Fucking hell.... This is bad. He is making me cultivate my yin energy too. Won’t he try to kill me as well?"
The ghost boy scooted closer and nodded.
"Is he trying to kill me?"
The boy nodded.
"Shit..." Eric was in total disbelief.
He sat on the mat thinking about how to escape.
The Taoist monk knew a bit of magic. Even though he was teaching him cultivation, he never taught him any of the spells like that barrier and stuff.
He was on the weaker side.
he had nothing to protect himself from him as he was living under his roof and eating the food he was preparing.
It was so easy for that monk to kill him.
One poison pill in his fruits and the next morning he would be a ghost boy without even realizing it.
Just thinking about it made his whole body cool down instantly. He buried his head in the blanket.
"Wait!"
Sitting up, he glanced at the ghost boy. "Fifteenth birthday! He said it was a special day! Is.. is he trying to kill me that day?"
The ghost boy moved closer to his ears. "Run,"
Eric’s heart almost stopped at that moment
He took a deep breath calming himself. "Easy for you to say. He has blocked all paths’ I do have this dagger now. I can try to escape out of here. But if I get caught, I will be killed instantly."
Biting his lips, he glanced at the ghost boy. "Do you know of any other way out of here?"
The ghost boy thought about it for a moment and nodded.
"You do?"
"hmm...." He stood up and walked over to the door. "Out."
Eric followed after him with that blood-stained dagger. "Only got five chances to use this dagger, okay? you better not be bluffing with me,"
The door to his room was a double door that had a latch on the outside. He slowly slid his dagger through that small gap and lifted up that latch.
With ease, he was able to open his door.
"Why haven’t I tried it sooner?" he thought slightly proud of his achievement.
But previously he did not have any longer and thinner objects like this dagger.
Eric looked at the dagger for a second. ’How many uses do I have now?’
{’five.’}
’So, picking a latch is not its use huh? How can I use it then?’
{’all you have to do is slash things with it.’}
"Great,’
