The city was put under red alert again. this time in search for Altren.

Aaron went about searching the entire city. All night he flew around searching for traces of his nephew. Even Haze and Blue did not rest.

Nothing.

They found nothing.

A person named Jake did not exist any longer. Even if the students were asked about it, they could not remember a person like that.

This evoked a sense of emergency in Aaron’s heart.

A person capable of controlling so many people’s minds at the same time was out in the open. And that person was the leader of the snakehead gang with a few thousand villains under his control. It was a recipe for disaster.

He received a call from Haze right as he was deep in his thoughts. "Found anything?"

"Nothing yet but we have found that Ruth had deep connections with Jake and the snakehead gang. If we could get something out of him, we can find out their whereabouts,"

Aaron gritted his teeth. "Where is he being held?"

"In the high protection prison up in the north."

"Got it," he swiftly flew towards that direction.

The villain named Ruth was captured right when Kang was rescued. Even though his lover begged him not to hurt that guy, Aaron was still not convinced. He had ordered Haze and Blue to temporarily detain him so that he can learn a lesson not to mess with his lover.

All throughout the capture, Ruth was surprisingly cooperative. He did not fight back.

Aaron could still remember the dull look in his eyes as he was being pulled away. ’Will he answer my questions though....’

He reached the prison walls in no time. Flying from this point was prohibited. So he landed and walked up to the gate. The inconspicuous eye scanner was in the corner. he scanner his eyes and his finger prints and entered the prison.

It led to a long white hallway where there was a secondary check.

Anyone who must enter this place had to go through at least five check points before they could reach the holding cells. That’s what made this pace the safest place to hold dangerous criminals.

But it was also so cumbersome.

It wasted almost twenty minutes of his time.

By the end of all the checks, Aaron was so frustrated. "Just bring Ruth out to the investigation cell," he ordered, massaging his forehead.

Fifteen prison soldiers brought a person bound in chains. The man was barely walking. He was being pushed from behind with a laser gun to the seat.

"Ruth," Aaron called out to him.

The young man glanced up. "You, why are you here? to gloat?"

"No, to ask for your help," he openly admitted it to him.

Ruth sat down with a scoff. "What made you think I would help you?"

Aaron leaned back peering at the man’s attitude. Haze had done research on him and managed to dig up some dirt. This man’s real name was ruthless, a villain of the snakehead gang. No one knew where he came from or how he got in touch with Zhu Kang.

Their investigation did mention that Ruth was particularly close to Zhu Kang during the first years of his college. He had seen photos of them together. But in every picture, Zhu Kang had a cold unfeeling look in his eyes while Ruth had a loving gaze cast upon Kang.

It was obvious that this love Ruth mentioned was completely one-sided.

"Zhu Kang is with me and safe."

Ruth’s eyes showed a hint of interest. "Is he... okay?"

"He is sick. Very sick."

Ruth’s hand started to tremble. "Did you take him to a doctor? I have never seen him get that’s sick before. He had been wounded multiple times, but he had never gotten that hot. Something is definitely weird. Do something. Take him to the hospital!" he screamed.

Aaron calmly gazed at him. Ruthless was not a ruthless person. He genuinely had feelings for Zhu Kang. but that feeling was what exposed his whereabouts. They had been searching for Kang for a long time when a surveillance video in a small pharmacy was brought up. A black hooded man brought fever meds in a hurry and left.

Part of his hood was lowered, but he did not seem to care.. he rushed out of the store with the medicine.

That was how they figured out where Ruth’s house was and saved Kang from him.

This guy was obviously trying to help Zhu Kang but in a destructive way he knew of.

Even so, he respected him. if he was in Ruth’s situation, he too would have become irrational and acted crazy. Because Zhu Kang was worth it. he was a treasure that no one would be willing to lose to another.

"He is asleep now. But what you can tell me can help his situation."

"Why? What do you mean?" Ruth confusedly looked up at him.

"Jake." He whispered his name.

Ruth’s expression did not change much. "What about him?"

"Were you working with Jake? If so, tell me all about his powers and his whereabouts. The sooner you cooperate with us, the faster you can get out of here."

Ruth just leaned back with a confused look on his face. "I don’t understand. Why would I cooperate with that guy? He is just my roommate."

Aaron raised a brow. ’It looks like he didn’t know about Jake’s real identity? or is he lying? Let’s probe him a bit’

"Snakehead gang has targeted Zhu Kang again. they are going after everyone he was close to in college. Including Jake and Altren."

Ruth leaned forward hurriedly. "No that’s not a problem. We had a deal. I made sure he was freed from that place,"

’Freed?’ Aaron did not intervene. He simply listened to him. ’It sounds like Zhu Kang had some kind of connection with snakehead. Was he threatened? Or kidnapped by them before? Shit.. why didn’t Zhu say anything...’

Ruth started to panic. "I can talk to them! I can get them to leave Kang alone! I can! I can’t let him get involved with snakehead again. after all that happened, he can’t get involved..... you, get me out of here. I can help Kang. I can protect him,"

Aaron could feel that there was something this guy hid from him. he decided to throw out a small lie. "They already hurt Kang."

"W-what.... How is he? is he okay? Is he badly wounded? I know a person who can help him. Please let me help! Let me help him!"

"You can help us by telling us everything you know about snakehead gang."

"No... no they promised. They promised not to bother Kang if we gave the money. I paid in full! How... how can they still bother him...

"How much," Aaron casually whispered. But his hand under the table was tightly clenched. ’Zhu... was once a snakehead member,’

"Five hundred thousand dollars." Ruth looked stunted. "You! get Kang far away from here. Don’t let him get involved with HIM again. you can’t let HIM close. You mustn’t,"

"Who?"

"Snakehead gang’s leader. Don’t let him get close to Kang. He had been hurt by that person more times than I could remember..." Ruth started to cry softly. "I don’t want to see him broken again. I can’t bear to see him like that... please.. do something. Get him out of this city. Far, far away. Let him be safe from his tortures."

Aaron stiffed up. "h-how did snakehead leader hurt Kang?"

Ruth suddenly glanced at him with a mocking glare. "You don’t know anything. When he was hurting, I was the one there for him. I was the one who sought out when he needed to sleep. Kang... he can’t sleep well. Do you even know that?"

Aaron’s breath hitched.

Ruth, of course, noticed this and let out a loud laugh. "You don’t know anything. Are you even his lover? Hahahaha it’s so finny. You’re such a funny person,"

Aaron banged on the table hard. "Shut up! Tell me what you know of Jake! everything!"

"I don’t know about him. He is just a poor lad who goes after handsome faces." Ruth continued laughing at him. "You are not that good at changing the subject,"

Aaron scoffed and sat back down. "so, you don’t know everything either,"

The man stopped his gleeful laughter and sat up straight. "I know more than you,"

"You don’t know who the leader of the snakehead gang is, right?"

Ruth stiffened up. "no one meets him without permission. Only ten people in this world know who he is,"

"I know who he is,"

Ruth’s expression went malevolent. "Who?! Tell me who that bastard is!!"

"Why should I tell you?"

Ruth gritted his teeth. "If you tell me his identity, I will tell you all about Kang. don’t you want to know?"

Aaron was tempted. "Deal. You go first,"

Ruth slowly explained everything from the start to the end. Throughout this, Aaron felt uncontrollable rage fill up his being, listening to his lover’s gruesome past. He couldn’t sit still. he just wanted to run back home and hug Kang tight to his body.

By the end of it, he was left so sad that he laid his head on the table crying silently. ’Jake! I will tear him limb to limb. How dare he! I will kill him! I will kill him!!!!’

"Who is he? The leader. Tell me now,"

Aaron wiped his tears off and looked up. "Jake. Its Jake," saying this he left the investigation room.

Ruth sat there frozen. He was mumblings something under his breath. "Wait! You aren’t lying! How can he... how can he do that? he... he didn’t seem like that ruthless person."

Aaron glanced back. "He is a devil with a child’s face. and will tear his face for sure," growling he walked out.
