Chapter 315: Chapter 315 Making Pastries (3)_1

"If you want to go, then go, but don’t regret it later," Xiao Muli said as he reached out and pinched Situ Xin’s nose.

"Ouch, why are you pinching my nose? You’re going to make it all flat," Situ Xin pouted and glared at Xiao Muli. His glare sent a tickle through Xiao Muli’s heart, especially when he saw those cherry lips of hers, which made him want to give her a kiss. But he still had some sense left and knew it wasn’t the right time.

When Xiao Muli’s subordinates, and especially his secretary, heard that he had agreed to attend the banquet prepared by the Xiao family, they all breathed a sigh of relief. Originally, they had been wondering how to convince Xiao Muli to attend. They thought that even if it was just to make an appearance, they had to go.

But unexpectedly, Situ Xin had solved such a big problem for them. The way they looked at Situ Xin was filled with gratitude.

"Here, Brother Muli, these are the pastries I made myself. Try them." Now that she had achieved her goal, Situ Xin shifted her focus to the pastries she had made herself.

"Xiao Xin made these herself?" Xiao Muli was already delighted that Situ Xin had personally delivered pastries to him. Now that he knew she had made them herself, his heart was even sweeter. He had always heard Situ Jin bragging to him and Yu Qihao about how delicious Situ Xin’s cooking was. Yet, they never had the chance to taste her culinary skills.

This time, Xiao Muli felt like he had truly hit the jackpot. He eagerly took a pastry and gently bit into it. It was the savory kind he liked. "Mmm, this is really tasty. Xiao Xin is so talented; you learned so quickly. And they taste even better than those made by professional pastry chefs."

Seeing her handiwork praised, Situ Xin was so happy that her eyes squinted into a line. Though Situ Xin was reborn, the fact that others liked and affirmed what she made filled her with genuine joy from the bottom of her heart.

It was also because, in her previous life, Situ Xin had always been alone; no matter what she did, there was nobody to share her experiences with.

Realizing she had been there quite a while, Situ Xin thought about the fact that Xiao Muli still had work to do. "Brother Muli, I’ll leave now. Continue with your work; I’ll go back and talk to Grandpa Xiao about attending the banquet," she said, playfully winking at Xiao Muli as she spoke.

Sitting in front of the dressing table, looking at her reflection in the mirror, and watching the hairdresser and his assistant busy at work behind her, Situ Xin felt profound regret for her earlier suggestion to attend the banquet. She had this persistent feeling that she had brought trouble on herself by moving a rock only to drop it on her own feet.

Thinking this, Situ Xin turned and glaring fiercely at Xiao Muli, who was dressed formally and looking at documents. Internally she complained, "It’s all Xiao Muli’s fault. What’s the point of having a makeup artist and hairdresser?" In her heart, she was relieved that she had managed to send the makeup artist away after her insistent demands, unable to accept them plastering her face with their creams and powders.

Xiao Muli was unaware of Situ Xin’s internal complaints. He had been thinking about Situ Xin attending the banquet, considering that despite being the little princess of the Situ and Loo families, she rarely went to such functions since she didn’t like the fuss, and both families cherished her too much to parade her around. Hence, the number of banquets Situ Xin attended was few.

Xiao Muli thought that Situ Xin must be unfamiliar with the goings-on at such events, and although he often attended them himself, being a man, he had no idea about what women should pay attention to or prepare for these occasions.

To avoid any negligence on his part that might lead to Situ Xin being talked about at the banquet, he specially took time to inquire about the things women should be mindful of at banquets.

After getting all the necessary information, he had the best makeup artist and hairstylist brought in. As for Situ Xin’s gown, Xiao Muli had specifically called her aunt Lu Juan to sort it out.

That leads to the current scene.

Finally, when Situ Xin was almost dozing off, the hairstylist finished his work. "Miss Situ, your hair is done. Take a look and let me know if there’s anything you’re not satisfied with, I’ll adjust it for you," he said.

Now that it was finally over, Situ Xin had no desire to nitpick her hairstyle. Normally, whether her hair was down or tied back in a ponytail, she thought it looked good. "Nice, very nice. Let’s leave it at that," she said without even looking, and spoke up directly.

It was Xiao Muli who upon hearing that the hairstyling was done, looked up from his paperwork at Situ Xin. His first glance at the dressed-up Situ Xin took his breath away. Normally, Situ Xin wore T-shirts and jeans, and she was already quite pretty back then. But now, just with a little dressing up, Situ Xin shone even brighter.

Dressed in a pink, Korean-style strapless lace evening gown that accentuated her loveliness, that cuteness was laced with a bit of feminine charm. The hairstylist hadn’t given her a typical evening hairstyle, but instead had styled her hair in a princess cut, adding to it with the diamond-studded platinum tiara atop her head – she was every bit the little princess.

Situ Xin, feeling somewhat shy under Xiao Muli’s intense gaze, pulled at her dress and looked up at him tentatively, "Brother Muli, is there something not right?"

"Ah," Xiao Muli uttered as he was brought back to reality by her words. He quickly replied, "No, nothing’s wrong. Xiao Xin, you look very pretty today."

Seeing Xiao Muli’s hurried attempt to explain, Situ Xin teased him, "So you’re saying that I’m not pretty on usual days."

"That’s not what I meant. I meant that you look particularly pretty today," Xiao Muli explained anxiously, worried that Situ Xin might misunderstand his words and get angry. But as he said the last word, he saw the uncontrollable smile in Situ Xin’s eyes and realized she was just teasing him.
