Chapter 262: The Fall Of The Raven Court (1)
The Raven Court
Isadora walked the pavement, her footsteps were silent. Debris on every corner, craters on the ground, and the structures completely turned over.
Her pale ambers reflected the fires breaking out, the division of mountain surfaces, the buildings collapsing, and the chaos in every corner as hell unleashed.
The stone bridge, once refined and decorated with lanterns, creating several channels, was now in ruins. Everything was burning.
Echoes of her name being called streamed through. But her ears muffled them all. She was deeply devastated by the sight that shattered her heart to pieces.
"Isadora!"
Isadora’s breathing hitched, the sound of the voice pulling her from the depths of her grief.
Her head turned, and right at the corner of her eyes, she saw a blade coming for her head.
Isadora’s bloodied fist clenched tightly around her twin daggers as she reacted quickly, blocking the force of the attack.
Isadora came face to face with a towering Fae clad in silver armor from head to toe.
The silver suit was sculpted with saw-toothed plates and ridged lines, like a beast wrapped in metal. Helmet tall with spikes, hiding their identity behind a narrow visor.
Hands covered in clawed gauntlet with sharp fingers that could rip open flesh with just a touch.
This terrifying force was called the "Riddari", an elite of warriors and guardians of the realm, loyal to the Five Courts.
Isadora growled as she parted away, but that didn’t stop the Riddari from swinging her sword like a masterful swordswoman, with a force that could split the earth.
With a clawed hand stretched out, the earth ripped apart, with the sole purpose of burying Isadora alive.
However, Isadora was quick on her feet, leaping off the crater to another position, rotating her body through the clash of debris sent her way in menacing force.
Isadora ignored how her body screamed in excretion, wielding her blade effortfully and clashing weapons with the Riddari.
The sound of ringing steel echoed around them as Isadora stopped every attack aimed at slicing her into two.
But it was a one-sided battle. Isadora tried to hold on as best as she could, overcoming the force of each attack as her body screamed at her to collapse, but she was relentless, determined to overpower, fighting like an unhinged beast that didn’t fear death.
The Riddari became distressed, conjuring more splits to hinder Isadora’s movement.
It worked, but the warrior’s victory was short-lived because dark weaves snaked their way through, wrapping around the Riddari’s hands, legs, neck, and head.
The grinding screech echoed as the armor strained by the sheer pressure, the Riddari fought, ripped what she had to, swung her blade with silent precision but there was no escaping the darkness.
Hands bent at an unnatural angle, as well as legs, causing the Riddari’s knees to buckle.
Isadora used that opportunity; her blade sliced smoothly through the skin, and the head dropped with a loud clunk.
Isadora’s chest heaved out of control, eyes gazing on the bloodied mess with not a hint of remorse. She wanted to destroy them all, for what they did, for the lives of the ravenite they took.
After the message from the Silknis, Kraven used his shadows to bring them back to the court.
When they arrived, it was just as they feared. They were too late, bodies everywhere with survivors trying to hold the Riddaris’ off, proving themselves with their resilience. If it weren’t for them, the mountain would have been reduced to nothing.
The rest was blurred for Isadora as they were thrust into the heat of the battle, trying to find survivors and somehow get them out before the entire mountain collapsed.
Isadora lifted her gaze, but they softened when she saw Kraven walking toward her, with a battered look like she had.
An explosion happened, grasping their attention, as more of the building’s fell apart.
"How did they find the Court?" Isadora asked, devastated.
Was this the end? The Riddari was a terrifying force because all of them were weavers and masters of the element. And the numbers were greatly against them.
"I don’t know," Kraven replied, his dark weaves responding to his rage, pulsing around him and slipping into every corner.
No matter how much he fought, it won’t end this. They were too late.
Isadora took his hand and gripped it tightly.
"We have to try," she pleaded.
"There’s nothing to try," Kraven said with irritation. The sight of everything created a tightening sensation in his chest, he didn’t know what burned more, rage or pain.
"Some of them have made it to the escape tunnel; more can be saved," Isadora said, hopeful.
"From this?" Kraven questioned. "I’ve never felt more useless in my entire life. Once again, I’m kept in a position where I have to watch my entire world burn down."
"Kraven," Isadora said softly.
Kraven clenched her hand too tightly; it felt like he would crush it, but Isadora didn’t care.
"I always thought I would be the one to destroy everything when I lost control of my powers. When I pictured it every day—I felt nothing." His jaw tightened. "But now watching it all burn—I feel like I’ve failed them."
Isadora shook her head. "No, you haven’t. When we came back, they were fighting. They were trained for this, all of them, and if it wasn’t for their faith, they would have yielded, and we would have come back to nothing."
"They fought for nothing, all of them!" he said in rage. "The Raven Court has fallen, and there’s no going back from this!"

"Cai!" Logi called, trying to navigate the chaos. "Cai! Where are you?"
An explosion happened, debris flying around, and he drew back to avoid the danger.
He crouched in a corner as everything split apart. In the distance, haunting sounds of metal clanking as the Riddari marched filtered through.
Logi gulped, looking up at the top bridge that remained intact, and found about a hundred of them or more marching in coordination with their swords pointing upright. It was a scene straight out of a nightmare.
