The Masked prince
Chapter 94: Going Back

Chapter 94: Going Back

Since it was night, the cold winds were very moving fast across the sky. Regan was worried about Evelyn as Dan had said that her wounds could become grave if exposed to the cold winds. Although she had recovered to a great extent, he didn’t wish to take any risk.

So Regan decided that they should stay in Zamorin only for this night. They could book a room in an inn while Lavo could stay here in the forests.

Lavo didn’t have any problem with this arrangement. He was not affected by the cold winds. What he wanted was prey which he could find easily in the forests. However, Evelyn immediately shook her head in ’no’ when she heard the prince’s decision.

"No! We should return."

Regan frowned as he looked at her in confusion wondering why she looked so pale suddenly.

Perhaps Evelyn realized that she had been too hurried so she said to cover herself up.

"Elias will be worried, Your Highness. We have been out for the whole day and he didn’t even know where we were going."

Regan’s eyes were still filled with suspicion as he looked at her. At the same time, he replied to her words.

"There is no such thing. Elias is intelligent enough not to worry about us."

It was true. Knowing how capable his master was, Elias would never worry about his master if he couldn’t find him for only a day.

Evelyn went silent at these words. She lowered her head and suddenly spoke after a few moments of silence.

"Your Highness, can we not stay here?"

Seeing her lowered head, hearing her soft voice, Regan sighed in helplessness. When Evelyn didn’t hear any response, she raised her head and looked at him with request-filled eyes.

"Please, Your Highness."

How could Regan say no when she looked so cute! At that moment, even if she had asked him for his life then he would have given him that as well foolishly!

Regan cleared his throat when he realized that his mind was going in some other direction. Looking away from Evelyn’s cute expression, he put his fist in front of his mouth as he coughed awkwardly and said in a slightly stiff voice.

"Alright."

Evelyn was relieved as soon as she heard him say that.

However, Regan couldn’t just depart like that. He removed the fur coat he was wearing and walked towards Evelyn.

Evelyn looked at him in confusion.

It was only when he had thrown the coat over her shoulder did she realize that he had wanted her to wear it.

The fur coat had his scent which immediately filled her nostrils. Evelyn felt her ears going hot.

"Your Highness..."

She whispered as she looked at him with a stupid expression on her face.

Regan’s lips were threatening to form a smile seeing how petite she looked in his large coat. He was taller than Evelyn, so naturally his coat was too big for her.

But it was good. It would protect her from the cold very well.

Evelyn, however, was worried about the prince. She tried to remove the coat but Regan held her hand before she could do so.

"Don’t remove it."

He said strictly.

Evelyn frowned at the words as she said

"Your Highness, you should wear it. Otherwise, you will get cold."

"I won’t."

Regan was quite sure when he said that but Evelyn couldn’t trust him. Seeing this, Regan sighed and said seriously

"Believe me. Even without this coat, I won’t feel cold. Have I ever lied to you?"

This was also true. Hence, Evelyn could only believe him.

Seeing that she no longer removed the coat, Regan smiled gently but didn’t leave her hand.

Holding her hand, he walked to Lavo and helped her sit on his back.

A few moments later, they were flying high in the sky.

Evelyn was well protected by the coat so she couldn’t feel the cold winds. However, she was surprised when she realized that she was still holding the prince’s hands. Both of their hands were placed in front of her.

Unconsciously, she started to compare the sizes of their hands. The prince’s hand was too large while her hands were small. What surprised her was the prince’s hand was completely warm even though so cold winds were blowing and they were not covered with anything. She could feel the warmth of his hand warming her own hand.

But then she suddenly wondered if the prince found her hands rough.

Though she had not been working for the past few days, she had noticed her hands were rougher than Hannah’s hands.

As she lost herself in her own worries, she suddenly heard the prince’s asking her.

"Evelyn, don’t kneel in front of anyone again...not even me."

Evelyn was silent at the words for some time. She didn’t know if she could really agree to what he said.

But Regan continued

"You are no longer a slave, Evelyn. You are now a free person who can make her own decisions. If someone tries to conspire against you again, you have the right as an ordinary person to demand a chance to explain your own side. Unless it had been proven that you are really at fault, no one can lay their hand on you, Evelyn."

The words were slightly surreal to Evelyn. She, of course, understood who the prince was exactly talking about. He meant to say that if something like what happened in Royal Palace happens again then she had the full right to stand against anyone even if that is a Royal Prince.

The slaves didn’t have rights as they were tradable just like some non-living things or living animals but she was now an ordinary person so she possessed those rights to take a stand for herself and not to be punished unless found guilty of some offense.

Was that why the prince decided to free her? Evelyn felt as if her throat was clogged. She had never expected that the prince would think so much about this incident.

Though she was stunned, she nodded her head knowing the prince was waiting for her answer.

"Yes, Your Highness."

After this, there was a long silence between them. The silence was however comforting and peaceful until Regan spoke up again.

"Do you not like Zamorin?"
