Chapter 62: Evelyn Is Confused About Her Feelings

It was afternoon.

Evelyn was seated on the bed and looking out of the window from which she could see only a little bit as the window was quite far from the bed. It, however, allowed her to look at the sky outside and know when exactly was morning and afternoon, and night.

Today, a whole two days have passed since she had been staying inside the prince’s chambers. Her wound was healing.

Dan comes every day to change the clothing on the wound.

And she ...she was doing nothing except eating and sleeping. It was not the only thing that made Evelyn uncomfortable there were many other things as well.

The prince was taking care of her every need. The most embarrassing moments were for her when she had to use the bathroom. However, the prince would look calm as he would pick her in his arms and then drop inside the bathroom.

Then he would patiently wait outside for her.

After she would be finished, he would come inside and then take back her to the bed. After these two days, she should have been used to of it. However, Evelyn just couldn’t get used to of this thing.

Every time, the prince would come close to her, she would feel like running away or hiding somewhere because her heart inside her chest would drum so loudly that she feared that it would come out.

It was a newfound discovery for Evelyn which scared her...because she had never felt like this before...and she didn’t even have any explanation regarding why it was happening.

"What are you thinking so deeply?"

The deep voice made Evelyn blink once before she immediately composed herself. She feels afraid sometimes that the prince would get to know about her strange behavior around him.

Not even daring to look at him, she replied

"Nothing, Your Highness."

Since her head was lowered, she couldn’t see the disappointment lurking in Regan’s eyes. How he wished to know every little thing going inside her mind!

How could Regan not see that Evelyn was uncomfortable with living in his chambers and she was even more uncomfortable with him serving her? He knew everything and it disappointed him.

Because he didn’t want that Evelyn would find his presence a source of discomfort.

At the same time, he felt frustrated. Because he didn’t know what to do.

This was the sole reason he called the men today and trained them. He could see the relief in Evelyn’s eyes when he had told him that he would not be around in the morning.

And he had felt as if someone had just punched him in the gut. No wound he ever received hurt this much as Evelyn’s reluctance to be around him hurt him.

As if it was not enough, he heard her say the next moment

"Your Highness, How about I move to my room now? I am able to move now and walk slowly."

And this time, Regan couldn’t control the anger, hurt, and bitterness that spread inside his heart to show outside.

"Why? Do you find my presence so intolerable?"

Evelyn’s eyes went wide when she heard this.

She didn’t mean it that way. Looking at the prince’s expressionless face she felt very scared. Did she offend him?

She was at the lack of what to say for a few moments and could only say

"I...didn’t ..."

Then she shut her mouth and gave herself the time to compose her thoughts. However, Regan’s face went colder when he saw this.

But somewhere inside his heart, he couldn’t help but think if there was something really wrong with him.

Could it be that Evelyn found him very boring? It must be. But he had never talked much and he didn’t how he could make her laugh.

He was such a disappointment.

For the first time in his life, he felt that he had so many shortcomings. Disappointed, he turned around to leave only to hear Evelyn’s panic-filled voice.

"My words didn’t carry that meaning, Your Highness."

Regan stopped but he didn’t turn around to look at Evelyn because he thought that she was just trying to comfort him.

And Evelyn felt more panicked when she saw this.

"I ...I am just afraid to trouble Your Highness. Your Highness has to sleep on the couch which is clearly very small for Your Highness. Your Highness also has to feed me and then carry me to the ...bathroom"

Evelyn’s face went red when she said the last few words but she decided to be honest. No one had ever done so much for her.

And suddenly Regan, who was her master and also a prince was doing all this for her...how could it not make her uncomfortable?

Perhaps Regan also understood this as he soon turned around and looked at her with the same expressionless face. However, his red eyes were silently scrutinizing her as if he was trying to find whether whatever she said was really true or not.

A few moments later, his stiff body relaxed suddenly and he looked relieved.

He looked at Evelyn’s nervous expression and suddenly walked towards the bed. Folding his hands behind his cape, he leaned closer to Evelyn while standing and asked her in a low voice.

"Do you think that I would keep you here if I found you a trouble?"

Evelyn didn’t have anything to say. She could only stare at the prince’s red eyes in a daze and again feel her heart drumming against her chest.

’This...there must be something really wrong with my heart.’

She thought.

It was only when Regan straightened that Evelyn finally found some relief. However, Regan was still waiting for her answer and this made her remember a few incidents which Elias had told her about.

In the past two days, Evelyn had also got closer to Elias. Elias no longer doubted her. She could feel it because he was willing to accompany her whenever the prince would have to leave for work.

She remembered that Elias had told her how the prince had thrown out a maid who had tried to seduce him, he had almost fed a general to Lavo when one of the commanders had constantly tried to curry favor with him in hopes of getting promoted.

The man about whom Elias told Evelyn was completely moody and could do anything if someone made him angry.

At that time, she couldn’t believe at all that her master and that man were the same.

When she didn’t speak for so long, Regan clicked his tongue again and said

"Don’t think so much. You are not trouble at all."

Or maybe she is.

She is a trouble for his heart.

Regan smiled as he turned around while shaking his head helplessly.
