The Masked prince
Chapter 61: Peri Helps Rafael Unintentionally

Chapter 61: Peri Helps Rafael Unintentionally

Rafael left the court amidst ministers’ chattering. His face didn’t look good as he entered the chambers.

"Your Highness"

He heard a voice and raised his head to look at the woman coldly who had been waiting for him inside the chambers.

It was none other than his newest concubine, Peri.

"Who allowed you inside?"

Rafael asked coldly and Peri who had come to his chambers with all his favourite dishes flinched when she heard him.

Actually the guards had tried to stop her outside but she scolded them. She was the prince’s concubine.

What right do they have to stop her outside? And last time, prince had told her on his own that she could enter his chambers whenever she wanted.

Then why did he look so angry now?

"Y...Your Highness."

Peri whispered in a trembling voice when Rafael suddenly strode towards her. His eyes didn’t make her feel secure.

She cried out loud when Rafael suddenly clutched her jaw in such a tight grip that she was sure that it would leave the marks on her face.

Tears slid out of her eyes as she felt the pain after so many days. What happened? The prince was not like this before. He had been so gentle to her.

She must have done something wrong. Peri thought and immediately tried to explain herself

"Y...Your Highness said ...that I could enter..."

It was very difficult to speak and her words came out incoherently.

However, Rafael who understood what she was saying sneered coldly and tightened his grip making Peri cry out loudly.

She really wished that someone would come and save her. However, who would dare to stand against the prince.

Not even a single guard came inside the chambers even though she was sure that they could hear her cries.

"So what if I said? Do you think that you are that capable? ...you are nothing but a disgusting slave I use...when I wish. So I can throw you to dogs as well if I wish to do so."

Peri’s eyes flickered with Panic and fear when she heard these words.

When Rafael removed his hand from her jaw and threw her away to the ground, even then she looked dazed.

Her jaw was throbbing with pain but all she could remember was what Rafael said just now.

As if it was not enough, Rafael continued as he looked down at her with disgust filled eyes.

"I don’t even know now why I bought you. You came out to be just a waste of money. It would have been better if I had bought that another slave. She was more beautiful than you ...and I doubt now if that idea was hers only and you lied to me."

By the end of his words, Rafael’s voice was deathly cold.

It was not this only. His people who were living in Mazic and sending him the news regarding whatever was happening there told him that it was a slave who saved the prince. And Rafael knew that it must be the slave that Regan had bought before leaving the banquet.

His words made Peri tremble in fear.

After all, she knew that Rafael’s suspicions were all true.

No! She couldn’t let the prince think this.

Peri thought as panic filled her heart.

"No....Your Highness. I didn’t lie. Please trust me."

She turned her head and looked at Rafael as she tried to convince him. She wanted him to believe that he didn’t do any mistake by buying her.

Her life was finally better than before.

She didn’t have to do chores all day until her back would scream pain. She didn’t have to be beaten and starved by anyone. In fact, it was now she who ordered the servants under her.

Even though she still had the black band on her wrist which signified that she was a slave, she was prince’s concubine as well.

She finally knew the pleasure of being an owner, she didn’t want to be a slave again.

Peri didn’t want to lose this comfortable life at any cost.

Hence she tried to convince Rafael that it was she who had come up with the idea of opening the door in arena and running out.

The wheels of her mind ran faster and she finally told him

"How could Evelyn know to open that lock....Those locks they are made in Alfaros and Evelyn...she is from Zamorin. How can she know about those locks?"

Peri really wished that Rafael would believe her.

However, Rafael’s attention was caught by something else that Peri had never imagined.

"Zamorin...you say that she is from Zamroin."

Rafael asked as he looked at Peri with narrowed eyes.

Peri immediately nodded her head thinking that he was finally believing her. And the next moment, she saw a smile on his lips.

The smile should have made her feel relieved but Peri didn’t know why she only felt the terror filling her heart when she saw it.

When Rafael suddenly walked to stand in front of her, she wanted to crawl far away from him. But since she didn’t want to anger him, she could only stay put.

"Peri..."

Rafael called out her name gently as he stroked her messed up hair.

He even caressed the marks on her jaw making Peri’s eyes tear up again but she only heard him say

"You don’t even know how big of a problem you have solved for me."

Peri only looked at him in confusion.

Rafael continued to smile as he removed his robe. After he had removed his clothes, he said to Peri gently

"Now, serve me. Later, I will reward you."

Peri was very scared as she knelt before him. Her jaw was hurting. She just wanted to go back to her room. However, she knew better than to refuse him.

So she immediately started her work.

Rafael’s moans and grunts didn’t make her feel proud as they did in the past.

Somewhere inside her heart, Peri wondered if she did a huge mistake by betraying Evelyn that day and choosing to lie only to stay beside Rafael.

However, nothing could be done now.

After all, that was the fate she had chosen.
