The Masked prince -
Chapter 60: King Derrick
Chapter 60: King Derrick
In the grand court of the Royal Palace, the guard announced the arrival of the King. All the ministers stood up from their seats immediately in order to welcome the King.
Their heads were bowed as King entered the court.
King Derrick, the sole ruler of now big Empires, Alfaros and Zamorin entered the court with a cold expression on his face. His aura screamed and demanded authority and submission.
Without raising their heads, the ministers seemed to sense that the king had already entered the court as there was this sudden change in the atmosphere as soon as the King entered.
Derrick walked to the throne and two of his servants who were following him immediately took their place behind the throne.
Sitting on the throne, Derrick looked majestic just as a king should look like.
His blue eyes were cold and indifferent and his beautiful face and masculine body could surprise anyone if they come to know of his age.
Looking at the ministers below who were still standing, he said coldly
"Take your seats"
And the ministers were soon seated.
A few of them were soon discussing regarding who would first step forward and initiate today’s proceeding.
However, Derrick’s cold voice made all of them silent.
"This morning, I received a news that quite shocked me."
There was a cold smile on Derrick’s lips as he looked down at all the ministers who looked at each other in confusion.
Derrick observed each and every one of them very nicely. When he saw the curiosity flickering in their eyes, he asked with the same cold smile.
"Would my subjects like to hear this special news?"
Of Course they wanted to.
The ministers said inside their hearts but on outside they were silent. The king seemed especially angry today. They didn’t know if they were supposed to speak or not speak.
But, in the end, it was better to stay silent.
Derrick smile disappeared as he continued to look at them and a moment later, he opened his mouth again as he informed his subjects about the ’special’ news he was talking about.
"A few men dared to invade inside the castle in City Of Mazic...the place where the fourth prince is living currently."
The ministers looked shocked when they heard these words and Derrick who was observing each and every one of them suddenly had his eyes narrowed.
From what it looked like, none of them was involved in this attack.
It was good for them.
But then suddenly his eyes went to the two seats that were closest to him...the place where the princes were supposed to sit.
When his eyes went to Richard, Derrick took only a moment and knew that he didn’t have his hand in it.
Richard looked completely bored. Derrick knew his second son very well. For all he could predict was that Richard might be thinking of some obstinate things inside his mind.
The concubines in his place were the sole thing he ever cared about.
However, when his eyes went to his third son, Rafael and they were filled with scrutiny.
He noticed Rafael for a few moments but he didn’t find anything wrong with him. In the end, he could only give up and look at his ministers.
There was no doubt that he was angry since the moment he heard that someone dared to invade Mazic’s castle and from what his people told him, the attack was targeted on Regan.
That was the thing that angered Derrick the most.
Who dared to attack his son! Do they think that he was dead and would let them do whatever they wish to do?
He would investigate this matter in depth and would find out who was so courageous.
"I hope that none of you have your hand in it."
Derrick smiled as he told his ministers but his smile made the ministers in the court shiver with fear.
They shook their heads immediately.
"We don’t dare, Your Majesty."
Their voices came in chorus as they ensured the king of their loyalty but Derrick’s cold eyes went to Davies.
Davies was one of the minister in the court and he was the most influential minister. He was also father of his wife, Queen Diana.
But the man looked completely calm under Derrick’s eyes.
Hence, Derrick was unable to find anything.
A moment later, he looked away from Davies and looked at his minister who was in charge of Investigation department.
"Edrick, you are responsible for investigating this matter. I want result in a week."
Edrick was immediately on his feet and said respectfully
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Derrick grunted in acknowledgement and then stood up from the throne.
"The court is adjourned."
He was too angry to hear their chattering anymore. It was only after he left the court that the ministers dared to breath a sigh of relief.
However, inside their hearts they were slightly confused.
The king was so angry because someone dared to attack Prince Regan. Did the King not dislike Prince Regan?
Amidst these people, Rafael was looking coldly towards the entrance from where Derrick had just left.
He should have known it.
His father never disliked Regan. All of it was just a pretence. He must be having his people in Mazic to ensure that his dear son is safe. Otherwise how would he come to know of this news.
Rafael sneered coldly. His father played him for so many years.
The news that all his men was unsuccessful had already had him angry and now this new discovery made him want to destroy everything surrounding him.
He should have ended Regan’s life long ago.
Amidst these thoughts, he suddenly felt a gaze on himself and saw that his grandfather, Davies was looking at him.
Rafael looked at him only for a moment before he looked away.
He knew Davies was asking him silently whether he did it. However, he was not going to tell anyone, not even him.
Rafael knew that he couldn’t trust anyone.
Not even his mother because her ideas were as stupid as her.
