Chapter 53: [Bonus Chapter] Will Evelyn Wake Up?

Without medicinal herbs, it was difficult for Warren to stop the blood flow. He felt scared whenever he remembered the prince’s threat.

At this moment, Rex stepped inside the chambers with a few plants in his hands.

He walked to Warren and asked

"Would these be of any use?"

Warren took them from his hands and looked at them carefully. A moment later, he nodded his head and said

"They can also work."

Regan was relieved when he heard this. He looked at Rex silently but the latter only patted his shoulder.

"Martha had once told me that she planted some medicinal herbs in the castle’s garden. I remembered it."

Regan nodded his head and looked towards the entrance of the chambers again.

He was feeling impatient.

When Elias didn’t come even a few moments later, he decided to go out of the castle and look for a doctor on his own. Before this, there was no one by Evelyn’s side and he could not leave her alone.

But now Rex was here so he could go out and look for a good doctor.

However, just when he was at the entrance, Elias appeared there with an old man.

"Your Highness, I brought a doctor. This man is a very good doctor. He will surely treat the girl."

Regan was satisfied when he heard this.

"Your Highness"

The old man bowed his head in front of Regan.

Regan didn’t want to waste his time in all this and brought him inside the chambers.

"Treat her."

The old man looked at Evelyn’s pale face and frowned. He then looked at Warren who was applying a paste on the wound and his frown went deeper.

Warren smiled sheepishly when he saw the old man and said

"Uncle Dan you are here. Please come. As you know I can only treat animals. This is something that you should handle."

Dan nodded his head as he took the seat emptied by Warren.

He removed the paste that Warren had applied from Evelyn’s wound but let the turmeric stay there.

Seeing this, Regan looked at Warren coldly who could only smile sheepishly and say

"They usually work for cows."

Regan didn’t pay attention to him more and looked at Dan who seemed to be looking for something inside his bag and said

"Here take it and grind it."

Dan passed a few herbs to Regan who took them without any hesitation and picked the mortar that had been used by Warren.

Elias had wanted to take this job from his master but Regan did everything on his own.

He did everything very fast and in just a few moments, he had ground all the herbs and went to them with Dan.

Dan looked at him with surprise and hurriedly applied them to the wound.

The bleeding had stopped and Regan’s expression relaxed when he saw this. However, Dan’s face still looked very somber as he checked Evelyn’s eyes and pulse.

A few moments later, he looked at Regan and said

"Your Highness, I have stopped bleeding. However, the blood loss was huge. It is difficult to say anything for now."

Hearing these words, Regan who had just relaxed went blank again before he asked coldly

"What do you mean?"

Dan sighed but said seriously

"We can wait for a day to be passed. If Lady doesn’t open her eyes in that time then I am afraid we have no hope..."

Regan didn’t seem to hear anything after these words.

His red eyes went icy cold as he stepped towards Dan and said

"You are a doctor. Treat her otherwise wait for your death."

Dan was however not scared of hearing these words like Warren. He was a very good doctor and after reaching this age, he had already treated many people in his life. Many of them belonged to very good families and it was normal for him to see the patient’s relatives losing their composure because they couldn’t bear the loss.

However, when he realized that the man standing in front of him was a son of their former princes, his eyes unconsciously softened and he said very calmly

"You are right. I am a doctor. But I am not a god."

Regan was taken aback when he heard this.

Seeing this, Dan’s smile was softer as he continued but this time in a respectful manner.

"Your Highness, It is her will. If she has a strong will then she will live. But if she has already given up...then nothing can stop her from leaving."

Finishing his words, Dan collected his things and said

"I should leave now. If she wakes up then Your Highness can call for me again."

Dan left after saying these words but Regan continued to stand there.

Rex sighed when he saw this.

He looked at Elias silently indicating him to look after Regan before he left the chambers. He still needed to ensure that there was no invader left inside the castle.

Elias felt very upset when he looked at his master.

He knew that his master might be blaming himself because Evelyn got hurt while saving him. However, he respected Evelyn for what she did.

All his doubts regarding Evelyn have vanished and he also felt regret for doubting Evelyn’s loyalty.

That is what they were supposed to do. His master should not feel upset about it. But he wished that Evelyn would wake up soon.

"Your Highness should go and wash up."

Elias said when he saw that his master’s clothes were colored with blood.

"I am here by Evelyn’s side."

He assured when he saw his master not moving at all.

However, Regan’s eyes were fixed on Evelyn.

"Leave."

He said to Elias a moment later but Elias shook his head immediately.

However, when he heard his master’s cold and strict voice the next moment

"Leave Elias."

Elias could only leave the chambers but he still stood outside the chambers to make sure that he would be there if his master needed him.

Inside the chambers, Regan sat down on the bed near Evelyn. His hand went to hold her hand and when he felt that they were very cold, he frowned deeply.

He tucked her other hand inside the blanket and held one with both of his hands as if trying to pass the warmth of his body.

Looking at Evelyn’s pale face, he said firmly

"You will wake up, Evelyn. My Evelyn is the strongest girl I have ever seen. I will stay here so that when you wake up you will not find yourself alone."
