Chapter 52: A Doctor For Evelyn

Under the starry night, the melodious sound of the flute could be heard.

When Regan heard the flap of wings, he opened his eyes immediately and stopped playing the flute.

He watched as Lavo flew towards him and landed inside his balcony. Stepping towards the huge creature, he stroked his wings.

Surprisingly, even Lavo’s eyes didn’t carry their usual brightness and indifference. They were dim just like Regan’s and a trace of anger could be seen in them.

"Lavo..."

Regan’s voice was slightly hoarse and behind his mask, there was a sheen of moisture in his red eyes as he whispered his pet’s name.

He exposed his vulnerability in front of Lavo fearlessly and said

"She needs a doctor, Lavo. She is injured...bleeding."

Lavo growled softly in response. He took a step forward as his wings embraced Regan’s body. He couldn’t speak human language but he tried to comfort his master in his own way.

The comfort lasted only for a moment because soon Lavo flew away. As he looked at the sky, Regan knew that Lavo was flying at the fastest speed he could.

He exhaled sharply as he stood there and looked at the sky until Lavo disappeared.

When he stepped inside the room and looked at Evelyn again, his heart that was already full of panic sank more. The blood was flowing continuously.

Regan could not sit just like this.

He searched for a cloth and then tied it around the wound tightly.

Looking at the frown on Evelyn’s forehead because of his actions, he felt relieved as well as regretful.

Regretful because he knew that the tight hold of cloth on wound was hurting her and relieved because she had at least that much of consciousness.

"I wouldn’t let anything happen to you, Evelyn."

He whispered as he stroked her cheek softly.

"Regan!"

Regan removed his hand away from Evelyn’s face and looked towards the door only to see Rex and Elias walking inside the chambers.

"The invaders have been managed for now. But we need to look around inside the castle once in case any of them is still inside and hiding."

Rex told his brother but Regan didn’t seem to care. He merely nodded his head and looked at Evelyn.

It was only then Rex and Elias looked at Evelyn.

Both looked equally worried as they glanced at the unconscious Evelyn on the bed.

"She needs a doctor."

Rex whispered and Elias immediately said

"Your Highness, I will go and bring one immediately."

Elias was about to turn around where a growl was heard from the balcony.

Regan who had been sitting silently was immediately on his feet and walking to the balcony.

"Regan!"

Rex called out but Regan didn’t stop.

In the end, Rex and Elias could only follow him.

Inside the balcony, as Regan had expected, Lavo was standing. However, this time he was not alone.

Regan looked at the man who was terrified out of his wits and was dumped on ground by Lavo.

He walked to the man without delaying a second and asked

"Are you a doctor?"

The middle aged man brought by Lavo looked at Regan and immediately knew that he was the prince.

"Greetings, Your Highness."

He greeted Regan respectfully then as if afraid he started to blabber.

"I didn’t invade. I was brought here by this creature...."

Lavo growled at the man impatiently and Regan looked equally impatient as he asked again.

"Just answer my question. Are you a doctor?"

The middle aged man was more terrified when he saw the prince’s cold voice combined with how the giant creature was growling at him and nodded his head vigorously.

"Y...Yes, I am. But..."

Regan interrupted the middle aged man and said

"Follow me."

The middle aged man couldn’t disobey the prince and followed Regan inside the chambers.

Regan took him near the bed and said

"Treat her."

The middle aged man looked at the girl lying on the bed and his expression became serious as he walked to the bed and looked at the wound.

Then he looked back at Regan and said

"Your Highness, the wound is very serious."

Regan clicked his tongue in impatience when he heard this and said coldly

"I know that. Treat her. Don’t delay the treatment. If something happens to her then you won’t be able to get out of this castle alive."

The middle aged man looked at the prince with a somewhat dumbfounded expression.

Who threatens a doctor like this before he is going to treat a person! What if he got so scared that he couldn’t even think properly and treat the person!

However, he could only hide his grievances inside his heart and say respectfully

"Your Highness, My name is Warren."

Seeing the prince’s eyes going colder, Warren shivered and hurriedly continued

"I am actually a doctor who treats animals not humans."

Regan’s expression went blank when he heard this. His eyes went towards the balcony and he heard a growl immediately as if in response.

When he looked back at Warren, the latter cried without shedding tears.

"Your Highness, I can try to stop the bleeding but I need a few things for that. Till then, Your Highness can look for some good doctor."

Regan nodded his head and looked at Elias.

Elias left immediately to look for some doctor while Regan looked at Warren again and asked

"What all do you need? Tell me."

Warren spoke about a few things. He also told Regan that he needed some medicinal herbs if they were available inside the castle.

Regan only nodded his head before he left the chambers. Rex looked at his back and sighed softly.

A moment later, he left the chambers as well.

When Regan came back, he had a big tub of warm water in his hand. He even brought a clean cloth with himself. He brought turmeric as Warren had asked for.

"The medicinal herbs...I couldn’t find them."

Regan frowned deeply as he said this. His eyes went to Evelyn again and his heart was full of guilt.

"Where is Elias?"

He gritted his teeth as he asked coldly.

Warren was scared and immediately took the things from him as he started his work.

When he removed the already tied cloth from the wound, a lot of blood gushed out making Regan go blank.

"This is not good."

He heard Warren whisper and his hand went to his sword again.

Once Evelyn gets well, he will dig the person out behind the attack and would make his life hell!
