Chapter 50: The Invasion(2)

After Regan and Rex had started to train men in the castle, more maids and servants were needed in the castle and that’s what Martha had been doing these days.

Most of the maids and servants hired by Martha were orphans and homeless people of Mazic.

Hannah had once told her and Evelyn had a sense of respect for Martha after knowing this.

Not only Martha helped these people in getting a source of income, but she also provided them with shelter in the castle.

The rooms that were in the back area of the castle were usually occupied by these maids and servants.

Evelyn had never been inside the area as her room was separate but she had visited the place from outside only with Hannah, Miri, and Ami only a day ago. Using her memory, she easily reached the place.

Evelyn saw two guards guarding the doors of the building. When she reached them, she immediately told them about the orders and the guards looked shocked.

"I will go to the other building and gather the male servants."

One of the guards said and Evelyn was relieved to hear him. She nodded her head and went inside the building.

When she stepped inside, she could see from the barely lit lamps that everyone was sleeping after a long and tiring day.

Evelyn immediately knocked on the first room and the people inside opened the door in a few moments.

Almost two to three maids lived in a room. When Evelyn told them that there were invaders inside the castle, the three maids immediately helped her in gathering others.

It took almost fifteen minutes in gathering everyone then under the protection of the two same guards Evelyn took these people to her room.

There were almost twenty people as Martha had just started hiring these people. Hence, they could be kept inside her room.

After she had done the job, Evelyn looked at all the maids and servants and said firmly

"If any of you feel that their life is in danger or the situation inside the castle is getting worse then they are free to leave through the exit of the castle which is very close to this room."

The maids and servants looked conflicted and scared but they nodded their heads a moment later.

Then she looked at the two guards and said

"Though His Highness is not here at this moment, I am sure that they would want two of you to protect them."

The two guards nodded their heads without any hesitation and said

"Lady doesn’t need to worry."

Then Evelyn finally decided to leave them under the protection of the two guards.

She first went to Regan’s chambers where she knew that Elias had kept some swords he sharpened every day.

Once inside, Evelyn picked a sharp sword and then walked through the corridors of the castle carefully. She was not aware of where the fight was going on.

It was almost ten minutes later that her feet halted suddenly when she heard the sounds of metal colliding with each other across a corridor.

Clang!

The sound increased as she took a few steps forward. Then she finally reached the end of the corridor and witnessed people fighting each other using their swords.

Her eyes widened when she saw so many of them.

This...how did they enter the castle! Evelyn wondered as her eyes found Prince Rex and Elias fighting with the men. But where was her master?

She saw the guards from the castle walking to help the princes in the fight. She was relieved to see them. Because their side looked less in strength clearly if compared.

Evelyn’s searched amidst the crowd of men for a few moments. Her eyes were filled with frustration when she couldn’t find him. Her grip around the sword tightened as she wondered if she should go and look for him amidst these fighting men.

But she was not good at it!

What if she messed up? Evelyn was wondering and suddenly her eyes found Regan.

Her eyes widened when she noticed him fighting with so many men at the same time.

Not it seemed as if all those men were bent on fighting with her master only.

Her heart almost came to her throat when she saw another person attacking the prince when he was already fighting with one.

She was about to step forward and help him when she saw the prince handling kicking the man away using his leg.

Her heart finally fell back in its place.

So Evelyn stayed at the same spot, hiding behind the wall.

She decided to look out for her master but as she watched her anger couldn’t help but increased seeing how the men were attacking the prince one after another giving him no rest.

It almost seemed as if they were here to fight him or perhaps to kill him. Her eyes went cold when she thought so.

But she could do nothing to help him as she didn’t know how to use her sword. She could only stand there and ensure that her master would not be hurt by them.

On the other hand, Regan was fighting with the men very nicely.

There was a deep frown on his forehead and his red eyes were cold and merciless as he killed one man after another.

Before, he had thought that they were only twenty of them. However, he had been wrong. Because as he fought the invaders kept increasing with time.

This was a very well-planned attack.

Regan’s body excluded ruthlessness as he fought. Within a few moments, half of the men who half been fighting him were lying on the ground.

A long time had passed already but he didn’t look exhausted at all as he continued to fight. The battlefield had trained him enough.

However, when a man suddenly tried to cut the thread of his mask, Regan’s eyes went colder if it was even possible. With one swift move, he stabbed the man’s stomach with his sword and then looked at him with cruelty as he lost his breath.

His grip on his sword was tight as he raised it again to kill another. But this time, the four people attacked him together.

Regan fought well.

He could even sense that someone was about to attack him from behind. To handle the man behind him, he needed to first fight the men in the front.

Regan kicked the men in the front but two were still attacking him. There was still no trace of fear in his eyes as he stabbed one of them and was about to do the same with another when he suddenly heard a shout.

"Your Highness! Be careful."
