Chapter 49: The Invasion(1)

Regan first went to the room that was just beside his chambers. One knock was enough to wake Elias.

Just a moment later, Elias was standing ready at the door when he opened it and looked at his master with a serious expression on his face.

Years of training while leaving on the border where the enemy could attack at any time was enough for Elias to be so quick-responsive.

"There is an invasion."

Elias’s face went more somber when he heard this and his eyes were cold.

He nodded his head and said

"Your Highness, I will go and tell Prince Rex."

Regan didn’t say anything and just left from there.

The sound of his sword terrorized the air surrounding him as he took it out of the sheath and walked across the corridors.

His body excluded nothing but ruthlessness.

Just in a moment, he reached the corridors where he had seen the invaders.

His cold red eyes looked across the empty corridors as he stood there at the same spot.

And then a moment later he strode in a direction with certainty predicting that he would find them here.

The battlefield where Regan had fought since the age of twelve had taught him how to read the next move of the enemy.

And sure enough, it was just a matter of a few moments before he came across one of them.

A man in black clothes with a sword in his hand was standing in front of Regan. One glance at his face and Regan knew that he was not one of the guards in the castle.

The invader looked at Regan only for a moment before he lunged at him with his sword.

Regan didn’t need an invitation. His sword immediately blocked the sword of the invader.

Clang!

The sound of the swords colliding with each other was very clear in the silent corridor.

The other invaders must have been nearby as they soon came there to help the invader fighting with Regan when they noticed that he was being at loss.

However, in one swift moment, Regan stabbed the sword in the invader’s shoulder and the man could not fight any longer as his sword fell down from his hands.

His cold red eyes then went to the invaders that were still alive.

They were almost fifteen invaders.

It was surprising that so many of them could enter the castle so secretly. However, this was something that needed to be investigated later on.

For now, the most important thing was to show them the consequences of their daring act.

Regan’s eyes shone with coldness as he fearlessly strode towards them and his sword never stopped its work.

On the other hand, Elias was also quick in his work.

He had already informed Rex who asked him to gather the maids and servants at a safe place.

Elias was anxious to go and help his master. But seeing Prince Rex going to help his master, he was relieved.

And the task assigned by Prince Rex also needed to be done.

He was on his way to the chambers of maids and servants when he came across Evelyn who seemed to be going towards the kitchen to bring some water.

Evelyn had felt thirsty suddenly. Seeing the water jug empty, she walked out of her room to bring some water.

But she had not expected to see Elias.

Her eyes flickered with surprise and confusion when she saw the bare sword in his hand.

"Elias, what happened?"

Elias stopped walking on hearing his voice.

As if he wanted to test her, he told her honestly

"There are invaders inside the castle. His Highness is fighting with them."

Evelyn’s green eyes went wide with shock when she heard this. Her face went pale. She had seen almost every kind of torture in her life as a slave.

However, she had never come across such a thing.

Especially when she realized that this thing concerned her master’s well-being, she felt very afraid. Looking at Elias, she couldn’t stop but say exasperatedly.

"Then what are you doing here? You should be helping His Highness."

Elias’s eyes narrowed when he didn’t get the type of reaction from her he had been waiting to see.

But in response to her question, he continued walking forward as he said

"I need to go and bring the maids and servants to some safe place."

However, he had taken a few steps only when Evelyn suddenly blocked his way and said

"I will do it. You go and help His Highness, Elias."

Evelyn’s voice was slightly firm and she was looking at him as if she was ordering him.

Her behavior surprised Elias. Perhaps Evelyn also seemed to realize this so she softened her voice and said

"You should go and help His Highness. You are most needed there. This work...I can also do this. I will bring all of them to my room."

Her room was inside the corridors that were far away from the open grounds. It was also near another exit of the castle.

So if something happened, the people would be able to leave the castle immediately.

That’s why Evelyn suggested this.

But when she saw Elias looking at herself silently, her eyes suddenly flashed with anger and helplessness.

"You don’t trust me."

She said in almost a certain voice. Otherwise, why was he hesitating so much to give this job in her hands?

Evelyn felt upset inside her heart. In the past few days, she had been seen with dubious eyes many times. However, every time she told herself that it was not anyone’s fault.

It was their right to stay wary of her. After all, she was from Zamorin.

But at this moment, she couldn’t help but feel angry.

Her eyes shone with coldness as she held Elias’s hand and said firmly

"Then give me your sword. I will go and fight by His Highness’s side."

Elias immediately moved his hand away from her hold. He was still looking at Evelyn’s suspicion.

Evelyn sighed and was about to leave his way when she suddenly heard him say

"Alright."

"Go and bring them to a safe place."

And then Elias strode away from there.

Looking at his back, Evelyn’s chin wobbled slightly but she soon composed herself. She was given a job.

And she was not allowed to fall weak at this moment.
