Chapter 48: No One Can Take You Away From Me

Chapter 48: No One Can Take You Away From Me

Evelyn was startled by the sudden touch. She wanted to free her wrist. However the grip on her wrist was firm. At the same time, it was careful enough not to hurt her.

She couldn’t help but turn around to look at the person and a gasp escaped her lips when she saw a pair of red eyes in front of her eyes immediately.

Those eyes were fixed at her solely as if ignoring everything else.

"Your Highness..."

Her voice came out in a whisper. She was shocked and surprise to see Regan there.

Did the prince follow her?

Evelyn wondered.

Regan didn’t say anything as he pulled Evelyn’s arm in front of himself and then took the bowl from her hand.

She watched in a daze as the prince walked to the kitchen slab and picked a spoon from the collections of utensils.

And then he stood there as he silently started to eat the dish.

After the first bite, he nodded his head as if he was indicating that it was just according to his taste and then he continued to have more, ignoring her completely unlike how she was the sole owner of his attention just a few moments ago.

She walked towards the prince in the same daze and stopped a step away from him.

It was only then Regan glanced at her.

Seeing her staring at him, Regan looked calm as he asked

"What? Do you also want to have it?"

Evelyn only blinked as if she didn’t understand what he was saying. But the prince had already brought the spoon near to her lips.

Her eyes widened with shock.

It was the same spoon. How could she eat with this!

However, just as she had opened her mouth to refuse, the prince stuffed the spoon inside her mouth and the sweet taste of the dish filled her mouth.

Evelyn was still in shock when the spoon left her mouth, she heard a strict voice.

"Chew."

And she obediently did so.

However, when she saw the prince eating the next bite from the same spoon, she felt her face going hot.

This...was this alright? How could they eat from the same spoon?

However the prince looked so calm that Evelyn thought it was she who was so indecent.

She didn’t even know what to say.

Just as Evelyn was trying to compose herself, she heard the prince ask

"You lied."

Evelyn’s head couldn’t help but lower in guilt. Yes, she lied.

"Do you think that I would not know?"

Regan said calmly as he put the empty bowl on the kitchen slab and stepped near her. His cape slightly blew because of the wind from the window as he stood in front of her blocking the cold wind that was making her shiver.

When he saw that her head was still lowered, he said in his deep voice

"Raise your head, Evelyn."

Evelyn did so a moment later.

Regan’s eyes narrowed slightly behind his mask when he saw how her green eyes had the trace of fear.

Why was she scared? He thought for a moment before he realized something.

"Ignore Rex."

He said calmly while Evelyn blinked never expecting him to say something like this.

But Regan continued

"Evelyn, all that should matter to you is whether I trust you or not. And I trust you. As long as I trust you, no one can take you away from me. Do you understand?"

Evelyn stared at the prince in daze.

Those words somehow made her heartbeat fast. At the same time, her fear lessened.

Regan was satisfied when he saw that her eyes didn’t have any fear now.

"Go and sleep."

He said calmly and Evelyn nodded her head. Before she left the kitchen. She wished him night and then went to her room.

While Regan stood there for a long time looking in the same direction where Evelyn had left.

No one knew what was going on inside his mind.

.

.

.

It was midnight.

The castle was lit with only a few candles. The guards were guarding the corridors and entrance of the castle.

Regan was asleep inside his chambers. But, suddenly he opened his eyes and looked towards the balcony.

The next moment he was climbing down from the bed and walking towards the balcony.

The familiar sound fell in his ears and he calmly stepped inside the balcony.

Lavo who was standing in the balcony and growling loudly to call his master went silent when he saw him finally stepping out of the chambers.

Regan walked towards the creature and patted him as he asked

"Did you give the letter to them?"

Lavo growled in response and Regan understood that he did.

Satisfied, Regan patted his pet again. However, his pet was not satisfied with his pets.

Lavo nudged his master’s arm lightly but Regan pretended as if he didn’t understand.

The creature growled loudly at this and Regan immediately looked at him strictly and said

"She is sleeping. Do you want to wake her up by growling so loudly?"

As if he understood Regan’s words, Lavo mewled softly like a cat and rubbed against his master’s arm.

Seeing his behavior, Regan’s lips twitched and he said

"Come in the morning. She will be here then."

Lavo finally stopped mewling and raised himself to stand properly. A few moments later, he flew away.

Regan looked at the sky with his hands behind his back until Lavo disappeared.

He was about to go inside the chambers when his eyes suddenly fell on a few figures walking across the corridors he could see from the balcony.

The balcony of Regan’s room was such that he could see almost the whole castle from there.

His eyes narrowed as he saw the figures walking carefully across the ground. The way they were walking, they didn’t seem to be guards.

Seeing the shining swords in their hands, Regan’s red eyes went cold.

The next moment, he walked inside his chambers in long strides. After taking his sword from the bedside, he left the chambers.
