Chapter 44: "She Loves You So Much That She Can’t Find Words"

Rex was surprised...No! He was actually shocked when he saw his younger brother coming to see him inside his chambers.

"You...are you really here, Regan?"

Regan only glanced at him coldly, silently indicating to him not to be too playful. Seeing his serious expression, Rex also got serious as he thought that something was the matter.

It had to be. Otherwise, why would Regan come to his chambers!

"Did something happen? Is it related to Rafael? Did those traders do something?"

He counted all the possibility that would make Regan come to his chambers.

But Regan didn’t answer him. He only walked to the bed and sat on it while staring at the ground coldly as if its mere existence made him irritated.

Rex raised his eyebrows in surprise and was now more curious to know what exactly the matter was.

He also walked to bed and sat beside him brother, waiting for him to speak eventually.

He didn’t want to tease Regan as he knew that if he overdid then Regan would get annoyed and might leave even without telling what was troubling him.

And sure enough, Regan opened his mouth a few moments later. But the question left Rex speechless.

"What does it mean when a girl writes a letter to a man but the letter is blank?"

Rex saw a deep frown on half of his brother’s face which indicated how much the trouble the question have brought him.

A smile threatened to come across his lips but he hid it. Did Evelyn already write a letter to his brother?

That was fast.

He had thought that he needed to work on Regan’s side to make him pursue Evelyn but it seemed that Evelyn would do his work and he didn’t need to do anything.

No...actually he needed to help Evelyn. Otherwise, his dumb brother could spoil everything.

But why would Evelyn give a blank letter to Regan.

Rex thought for a moment before he smiled and said

"You don’t know! It is so simple. The letter is blank because she can’t explain her love for you in words. Her love for that man had made her so speechless that she can’t find any words to describe it."

By the time, he had finished, Rex had a wide grin on his lips as if he was satisfied with what he had just said.

However, when he turned to look at Regan he was confused to see his cold face.

Rex frowned as he looked at his brother’s cold face.

Could he not abandon it for a few moments? It was so difficult to understand him sometimes ...even for him!

Just when he was about to ask Regan what was wrong, Regan raised his head and asked him

"How to make her dislike this man?"

"What? Why would you want that?"

Rex asked as a deeper frown marred his forehead. He was almost ready to hold his forehead and ask his brother what exactly he was thinking inside his brain!

Why would he want Evelyn to dislike him!

Did he not like Evelyn? Had he been wrong all along?

He had not been. Rex was sure. He had never seen Regan like that for any other person.

As he tried to sort out his confused thoughts, Regan asked him again

"Do you know or not?"

"But why do you want that?"

In response, Regan only looked at Rex as if he was annoyed to his bottom line. The next moment, he stood up from the bed and said coldly

"I will find it out on my own."

And then he left the chambers leaving Rex to ponder how exactly he should bring his brother’s mind on the right track.

It was during lunch that Evelyn stepped inside the chambers with the tray in her hands.

She was surprised to see that her master was not seated on the bed just like any other day and looking through the documents.

Her eyes found Elias who seemed to be sharpening another sword today. Evelyn remembered Elias telling her that he had been preparing the swords for the men who had been practicing in the castle these days. It was something that His Highness preferred his people to do on their own rather than some outsider.

So every day he would be sharpening a different sword.

With the tray in her hands, Evelyn walked to Elias and asked

"Elias, where is His Highness?"

Elias raised his head and looked at her in confusion and then he looked towards the bed. His eyes were filled with surprise when he realized that his master was not there.

Had he been so lost in the work that he didn’t realize when his master left?

Seeing his actions, Evelyn realized that even he didn’t know about this.

Evelyn frowned and put the tray on the table inside the room before she left the chambers to look for her master.

The lunch will go cold if he didn’t have it anytime soon.

However, even after looking through almost the whole castle, she didn’t find him anywhere.

In the end, she returned to the chambers to see if her master had returned. However, she still didn’t see Regan there.

"Where did His Highness go?"

Evelyn whispered to herself. Her eyes went to Elias who was still sharpening the sword as if he didn’t feel worried about the prince at all. A frown marred her forehead as she asked him in irritation.

"Elias, I couldn’t find His Highness in the castle."

Elias raised his head and looked at Evelyn in confusion again.

"Why are you looking for His Highness?"

Evelyn looked at him speechlessly. When Elias saw her expression, he shook his head and said

"His Highness will come back and have his lunch whenever he wishes. You and I don’t need to probe into his matters. We are just supposed to do what he asks us to do."

Evelyn was still frowning at Elias’ words but she couldn’t really find anything to counter him.

Was only this much their duty?

Were they not supposed to know where he was? What he was doing?

Or was he safe?

Suddenly Evelyn seemed to realize that indeed in the past, neither of her masters or mistress informed her where they were going. It was indeed as Elias said.

They were supposed to do only that much of what they were asked to do. Not more, not any less.

Then why does she want to know everything about the prince?

She feels especially irked if she doesn’t get to know...just like now!
