Chapter 42: The Letter Is Ready To Be Delievered

Evelyn was surprised as well as slightly afraid.

Who could be there at such a time! Her heartbeat was fast and she silently picked up the embroidery needle she had been using to mend her torn clothes before as she walked towards the door to open it.

When she opened it, she found Hannah with an almost crying face standing in front of her.

Evelyn’s whole body that stiff relaxed immediately.

"Hannah, what happened?"

And as soon as she asked, Hannah’s tears flowed out like a non-stoppable stream.

"Evelyn...wuwu...two days ended. They will tell Henry tomorrow that I...I..."

Hannah shut her mouth as more tears filled her eyes. She can’t even say those words out loud in front of Evelyn only.

How would she confess her feelings in front of Henry!

"Wuwu...my love story will end even before it will start."

Evelyn sighed as she dragged the crying Hannah inside the room.

According to her, Hannah was overreacting. From what she could see, Miri and Ami were Hannah’s true friends and they would never do anything that would make her upset.

However, when she told Hannah the same, the latter shook her head vigorously as she said

"You don’t know...what happened before! Ami...she won’t leave me without taking revenge. Ah...why was I so foolish back then?"

When Hannah remembered what kind of letter she had written on Ami’s name to James, her heart would start to fill with fear as she knew that Ami would not stay behind in embarrassing her in the same way.

"She didn’t know...but James liked her. I had seen it. He would always look towards her when she was not noticing. That’s why I dared to write that letter to him. Henry doesn’t even like me."

"Then you should tell Ami about this..."

Evelyn said. She didn’t know everything but Miri had told her some details about why Ami was so bent on ’helping’ Hannah.

However, at Evelyn’s question, Hannah shook her head as she said

"I told her. She didn’t believe me....Do you know what did she say? How could James like me when I had such an ugly scar on my body? That stupid girl... she doesn’t know anything."

Evelyn was surprised to hear this.

She never knew that Ami was so insecure about the scar on her body. She couldn’t help but remember the scar on the prince’s face.

When she remembered how he had covered his face so swiftly that day, she couldn’t help but wonder if the prince also felt the same way about the scar on his face.

Is that why he didn’t remove the mask even in his sleep?

Her heart couldn’t help but feel a slight ache when she thought this.

She comforted Hannah and somehow made her sleep on the bed. But as she lay down on the bed, her eyes couldn’t find sleep for a long time.

The next morning, when she woke up Evelyn was not surprised to find Hannah all over her body. She only sighed and removed Hannah’s arms from her waist before she went to the bathroom to get fresh.

After that, she woke Hannah up.

Hannah dragged herself to the kitchen somehow. In the beginning, she was thinking of taking a leave to avoid Miri and Ami. However, when Evelyn said

"They can write a letter in your name even when you are not there. So it is better that you are there. Perhaps you would be able to do something to help yourself."

Hannah thought Evelyn made sense so she didn’t take leave.

When Evelyn found Miri and Ami behaving, as usual, she glanced at Hannah silently indicating that she shouldn’t worry.

However, it was when they were done with their chores and Martha and the other maids left the kitchen that Ami suddenly took out a letter that was hidden in her dress and dangled it in front of Hannah with a wide grin on her face.

"Evelyn...save me."

Evelyn had really wanted to but when she saw the evil grins on Miri and Ami’s faces, she didn’t know what to do.

Especially, when Ami looked at her and said

"Evelyn, don’t worry. She is overreacting. We are just helping her. If she will continue to wait like this then Henry will find someone else. At that time, she will cry more than she is crying at present. "

And Evelyn thought Ami indeed make sense. She didn’t know much about what Hannah felt for Henry but felt that it must be very strong for her even to have dreams of Henry.

Hence, she followed them to the corridor.

Ami and Miri called out Henry’s name together and Hannah stopped struggling completely.

Hence, Ami threw the letter and immediately ran away from there. Miri did the same.

And Hannah who was not held by anyone now didn’t even take a second to disappear.

Henry was surprised to see them running away as she walked towards them.

He looked at Evelyn who was still standing there and Evelyn looked at him with wide eyes and a hesitant expression.

"Lady, do you need some help?"

"I...."

Evelyn swallowed as she wondered what she should say. In the end, she remembered Ami’s words.

So she bent down, picked up the letter and threw it to Henry...before she ran away from there.

However, Regan who was walking beside Martha and talking about the number of servants that needed to be hired saw everything.

His red eyes stared coldly at the letter in Henry’s hands and then at Henry himself.

He needed to know what was written in that letter!
