Chapter 41: The Considerate Prince

Evelyn had wanted to help Elias in serving the meal. However, one glance from Regan was enough for her to sit back.

"Everyone can serve themselves."

Regan said coldly and all the men obeyed.

After everyone had served themselves, Evelyn finally dared to stand when she saw her master talking to Prince Rex.

His attention was not on her so she hurriedly went to the large table where all the dishes were kept and picked two plates.

After she was done, she walked to the prince.

Regan noticed her immediately and when he saw the two plates in her hands, he didn’t say anything while Evelyn didn’t dare to look into her eyes.

Fortunately, Regan took the plate from her hands in the end.

"What about me, Evelyn?"

Rex asked pitifully as he looked at Evelyn. She felt embarrassed under his gaze.

She decided to give him the plate that she had served for herself.

Actually, the plate had more veggies and she was aware that the two princes’ preferred meat more. So she didn’t know if he would like the plate she had served.

But when she was about to pass the plate in her hand to Prince Rex, Regan suddenly held her arm to stop her.

"Go and serve yourself."

He looked at Rex and said calmly.

Rex’s lips twitched although he had already expected such a response from his cold brother.

He sighed and was about to leave when Elias came there with two plates in his hands.

"Your Highness, I ser..."

Elias stopped amidst his words when he saw that there was already a plate in his master’s hands.

On the other hand, Rex grinned as he took the plate from Elias’s hands and said

"Thank you, Elias. You still think about me."

Elias could only smile politely as he saw Prince taking the plate he had made for his master.

Since everything was settled, Regan asked Evelyn to go and sit somewhere while eating.

"We are going to continue the practice after lunch. How will you continue like this!"

Evelyn knew that she would anger him if she didn’t obey so she walked a few steps away and silently sat on the grassy ground.

Elias was about to bring two chairs for the princes but Regan stopped him. He glanced at Evelyn and the other men and then calmly sat down on the ground.

Rex smiled when he saw this and followed his brother.

The men who were sitting a small distance away saw how the princes were sitting on the ground like them while having lunch, they felt respect for them.

Elias joined the other men while Rex looked at Regan again as he asked

"Yesterday, you fooled your own man just to snatch away the dish cooked by her. I wonder what condition your heart is in now that everyone is eating the meal cooked by Evelyn."

Regan almost choked on the food in his mouth when he heard his brother’s words. He only raised his head and glared at his brother indicating him to shut up.

Rex grinned but didn’t say anything after that. Regan didn’t realize that he never denied his claims whenever he teased him with Evelyn’s name.

That was also the silent acceptance, wasn’t it?

Rex thought inside his heart and grinned more widely.

They continued the practice after lunch.

Indeed, her master was right.

Evelyn realized this after almost an hour as she felt her arms aching while practicing the moves. It must be because she didn’t have rest during lunchtime.

Looking at the men who were doing all the moved non-stop, she felt despaired and tried her best to do everything like them.

But her arms were aching too much.

Regan was standing a few steps away and watching her persistence. His lips were pressed in a thin line and there was a slight helplessness in his eyes.

"As much as her stubbornness is endearing...it is irritating as well."

"Oh...so you found her endearing?"

The Masked Prince came out of his trance when he heard Rex’s teasing words. Only then did he realize that he seemed to have said something out aloud he should not have only to give Rex another chance to continue with his nonsense.

However, he was baffled at the same time.

Since when did he start to lose control on himself in such a way?

Not happy with himself, he walked towards the girl who was the reason behind this and said coldly

"Go to your room and rest."

Evelyn stopped kicking in the air and looked at her master with guilty and hesitant eyes. She didn’t want to disappoint him like this.

As if he knew what she was thinking, Regan’s cold eyes unconsciously softened and this time, he said

"Don’t worry. We will repeat these moves for the next few days. You would not be left behind."

Evelyn was relieved when she heard this. She didn’t stay there any longer and went to her room.

It was for the first time that she laid down on the bed during day time and she fell asleep within a few moments and she didn’t even have any dreams.

After having a dreamless sleep of two hours, Evelyn felt very refreshed. Looking out of the window of her room, she saw that the sun was about to set. So she washed her face and mouth before she went to the kitchen.

Hannah, Miri, and Ami were already making arrangements for the dinner and Martha seemed to be writing something on paper. Evelyn didn’t dare to disturb Martha and walked to the three busy girls.

It was only then Ami told her.

"The prince called Madam today and asked her to hire more maids in the kitchen."

Evelyn understood that it must be because of what happened today. Her respect for Regan increased as she witnessed that her master considered everyone’s difficulties.

She must be lucky to get such a master. Evelyn thought and decided to prepare another new dish for her master.

Hence, today again Elias didn’t get to taste the new dish made by Evelyn.

Even Rex who would always get his hands on what he wanted with his schemes couldn’t defeat Regan.

In the end, he let his brother be.

The next day was no different for Evelyn. Today she didn’t have to prepare the lunch as Martha seemed to have hired some temporary maids.

The next day was announced as a holiday by Rex much to Regan’s displeasure.

However, it was at night that something different happened.

When Evelyn was about to sleep, the door of her room was knocked.
