Chapter 275: Peri Wants To Help

The first thing Evelyn did after entering the room where Ezra and Peri were waiting for her was to look at Peri’s wrist.

Peri wore a dress that reached her elbows so when Evelyn saw her naked wrist and the sign of flesh as if it had just grown new, she was happy.

It meant that Peri was no longer a slave.

She had not even sat beside Ezra when Peri suddenly engulfed her in a hug and said

"Evelyn, thank you so much."

Peri’s voice was heavy but Evelyn could sense the sincerity in it.

She smiled and this time from her heart. It was not the polite smile that had been given to Peri before. Evelyn could understand very well how Peri was feeling.

She felt happy for Peri.

Patting her back gently, she parted away from Peri and looked at Ezra.

"Thank you, Ezra."

Ezra blinked as if he didn’t expect to receive thanks. Seeing his lady’s beautiful smile, he blushed and laughed nervously while saying

"My lady doesn’t need to thank me."

Evelyn found Ezra very cute when she noticed his red ears. She had heard from Isla how excited Ezra was when he had come to know that he was going to become her knight.

Evelyn never understood the reason behind his eagerness.

She was not a noble lady and neither was she a popular one. But she found all her three knights sincere to her.

Evelyn looked at Peri again. She wanted to ask Peri to leave now. She knew that the two princes didn’t like her presence and she didn’t want to see any of them upset.

However, before she could open her mouth and say anything, Peri interrupted her

"Evelyn, were you making arrangements for the banquet that is to be held tomorrow?"

Evelyn nodded her head. She was afraid when she saw a hopeful expression in Peri’s eyes because she thought that Peri would ask her if she could attend the banquet.

However, what Peri said was completely different from what she had expected.

"Can I help you?"

Though Evelyn was surprised, she nodded her head a moment later.

There was no harm in letting her help.

Peri smiled widely when she heard this.

Hence, Evelyn put aside her thoughts for that time.

The rest of the day, Peri indeed helped Evelyn sincerely in making the arrangements. There was not much to do but there were many things that Evelyn still didn’t know.

Since she had attended only one banquet which she had left midway and never interacted with anyone, she still didn’t know many things.

However, Peri told Evelyn many new things.

Evelyn also realized that she could not avoid talking to other ladies always. So when Peri told her about the popular ladies of the Royal City, she heard attentively.

Later, she went to practice swordsmanship and Peri went to her own room.

She only stopped when she heard Isla saying that the princes had returned.

As Regan had said, he came earlier today.

Rex still didn’t look much happy but Regan looked as usual.

After getting fresh, they had an early dinner. Fortunately, Peri didn’t come to the dining room like that other evening.

However, Evelyn told them that Peri was no longer a slave.

Regan merely smiled when he saw that his wife was happy while Rex didn’t have much of an expression on his face.

The next morning was the banquet and they needed to wake up early. At least Evelyn knew that she needed to wake up early so she slept after writing for about an hour while Regan read a book while sitting beside her.

However, that night when they lay on the bed, Regan asked Evelyn

"Can I hold you while sleeping?"

Evelyn stayed silent for a long time.

Regan thought that she was already asleep so he also closed his eyes but a few moments later, he felt a soft frame against his chest.

Opening his eyes, he looked at the furry head lying on his chest and smiled.

His arm went to hold her in his arms comfortably and he closed his eyes in peace.

There was something peaceful and joyous about having her so close to him.

The next morning, Evelyn got up even before Regan.

When Regan realized this, he frowned and held her hand to stop her from climbing down from the bed.

"The sun has not risen yet. Where are you going?"

"Your Highness, I will go and check if the things that will be sent to Royal Palace are arranged or not?"

Regan’s frown went deeper when he heard this.

"Who asked you to prepare anything?"

Evelyn thought that he was displeased so she felt nervous but still answered his question.

"Peri said that it looks nice if we take something with us to gift His Majesty."

Regan clicked his tongue.

He had not expected that she would do all as well. He gave her the responsibility of the banquet arrangement not to tire her out but after seeing that she looked excited to do it.

But seeing the nervousness in Evelyn’s eyes, Regan had to gentle his tone and say

"Evelyn, there is no need to do all that. He is a King. He doesn’t really lack anything."

That was true but Evelyn still wanted to prepare the gifts. She didn’t want to give anyone a chance to raise their finger at her or Regan and say that she was not the kind of a wife that was suitable for Regan.

Regan sighed when he saw a disappointed expression on Evelyn’s face and said

"I will come with you then. First get fresh."

Evelyn nodded her head and went inside the bathroom.

Regan went to some other room and got fresh. About half an hour later, both of them were walking down the stairs. Evelyn immediately walked to the covered gifts that were placed in the living room and checked everything again.

Regan frowned when he saw so many gifts.

It only made him wonder just how much hard work his wife did to gather all these things because he was sure that she must have chosen all these things on her own.

Just when he was thinking all this, he heard a voice

"Evelyn!"
