Chapter 274: What Happened Between Regan and Rex?

After Ezra left with Peri, the rest of the day for Evelyn passed managing the Palace. She learned to manage the accounts of the Palace with Isla and after that, she also practiced swordsmanship and wrote a few words just like how she had promised the prince.

When it was evening, Regan and Rex returned but Evelyn sensed that both of them were upset regarding something.

Evelyn wondered if she should ask them but in the end, she just asked the maid to serve the dinner.

She decided to talk to the prince after dinner.

However, after they finished the dinner, Regan didn’t go to their room like every day. Instead, he said to her

"I need to talk to Rex about something. You go first."

Regan leaned down to kiss Evelyn’s forehead before he left.

Evelyn looked at his back with a pout. Since the prince was away for the whole day, she looked forward to his return eagerly. Unlike how in Mazic where she could follow him everywhere, it was not possible here.

She comforted herself that it must be some urgent matter and she should not this petty.

After going back to her room, Evelyn waited for Regan to return.

She decided to continue the book she had been reading as she waited for Regan. However, a long time passed but Regan didn’t return.

Evelyn didn’t realize when her eyes closed and she fell asleep.

When Regan returned, he felt guilty to see her like this because he realized that she was waiting for him. He carefully took the book from her hands and made her lie down on the bed.

Initially, he was afraid that she would wake up.

But she seemed to be in deep sleep.

Regan felt happy to see that.

Before Evelyn was a very light sleeper. He remembered that he had read somewhere that some people who have a low sense of security around themselves are a very light sleeper.

So was Evelyn the same?

If Evelyn was no longer a light sleeper, did it mean that she considered herself safe?

Even though he was not certain, Regan felt happy to know this. The worry that he had inside his heart was reduced to a great extent.

That night, he contemplated a lot before he finally held Evelyn’s hand and went to sleep. He hoped that she wouldn’t mind the bit of freedom he took.

The next morning when Evelyn woke up she didn’t find Prince beside herself. Remembering that she didn’t see him before sleeping as well, she frowned deeply.

Isla asked her if she should prepare the water for her to wash her face and bathe. But Evelyn asked her to wait and then left her room to find Regan.

She wanted to see him once.

She finally found Regan in the garden.

Her eyes widened when she saw Regan attacking Rex with his sword. Evelyn was about to step forward to stop both of them when Elliot suddenly appeared in front of her and stopped her.

"Elliot...what are you doing? Move out of my way."

Elliot bowed his head and told Evelyn politely

"My Lady doesn’t need to worry. His Highnesses are practicing the swordsmanship."

"Like this?"

Evelyn said in a somewhat loud voice but it never attracted the attention of the two princes who were lost in their so-called practice.

Evelyn could never believe Elliot’s words when she saw the way they were attacking each other. It looked as if they were ready to kill each other.

When she remembered the grim expressions on their faces after they returned from the Royal Palace yesterday, Evelyn felt more nervous.

Did something happen between them?

She was not going to listen to Elliot and walk past him but then she suddenly saw Regan successfully throwing down the sword in Rex’s hands.

The fight stopped and both the princes looked at each other. Both of them were breathing heavily and their bodies were sweaty.

Rex looked at Regan with a deep frown on his forehead while Regan smiled as he stepped forward and hugged his brother.

Evelyn sighed in relief.

It seems that everything was alright now.

She no longer went to see them and let them have their own time as brothers while she returned to her room to get ready for the day.

The atmosphere in the dining room during breakfast was also better unlike how it was so silent during dinner last time. Though Rex still looked a little annoyed and upset, Regan talked to him again and again and forced him to reply to his words.

Evelyn was curious to know what happened between the princes but she didn’t ask anything. She didn’t want to look as if she was intruding on the brother’s relationship.

Before leaving for the Royal Palace, Regan said to Evelyn again

"Tomorrow is the banquet."

Evelyn nodded her head and said with a soft smile on her lips.

"Everything is ready, Your Highness."

Regan smiled and leaned down to kiss her forehead before he said

"Hmm...take care of yourself. I will come early today."

He felt guilty for leaving her waiting for him last night.

Evelyn was joyous when she heard Regan’s words.

After Regan and Rex left, the tailor also came with the clothes he had prepared for the two princes and Evelyn.

Since Evelyn didn’t know much about Rex’s choice, she asked him what kind of cloth he wanted for the banquet. Though Rex refused, she still had the tailor make a set of clothes prepared in the color that Rex found pleasing.

While for Regan, she chose everything on her own.

She felt especially delighted when she realized that the prince would wear this set of clothes.

She was just checking the clothes when Ezra entered the Palace with Peri. Evelyn put aside the clothes immediately. Before going to see Ezra, she turned to the tailor with an apologetic expression on her face.

"Would it be fine if I return in a few minutes? I won’t take much of your time."

The tailor felt humbled by such an attitude of the princess consort. He was a popular tailor in the Royal City and had worked for many royals as well as nobles.

But he had never met someone like Evelyn.

With a kind smile on his lips, he said immediately

"Sure, sure. This one is here. My Lady can take your time."
