The dinner after having Peri in the dining room was not like before.
Regan no longer spoke to Evelyn and even Rex looked displeased.
Evelyn suddenly felt that her decision of having Peri here was very wrong. She should ask Ezra to free Peri as soon as possible.
Though Regan didn’t speak to Evelyn, he still put her favorite dishes on her plate from time to time. Evelyn felt touched by this.
Such behavior of the prince made her feel certain that he would never leave her alone regardless of how angry he was. Of course, that didn’t mean that she could take his anger lightly.
The dinner passed in silence.
Fortunately, Peri didn’t try anything and had her dinner silently.
Rex was the first person to leave and after him, Evelyn also put down her spoon when she saw that Regan was finished.
When Regan stood up, she also followed him to the room.
Behind them, Peri looked at Evelyn’s back with a deep frown.
She didn’t like how she was ignored by the people inside the room. She had thought of initiating some conversation and increasing familiarity with the princes.
However, under the cold gazes of the two princes, she couldn’t even open her mouth.
On the other hand, inside the room, Evelyn was trying to talk to Regan.
"Your Highness..."
Evelyn sighed when she didn’t get any response.
Regan ignored her and walked to sit on the chair around the round table.
"Your Highness...she was being sold to someone. The man was beating her in front of my eyes. I couldn’t see it."
Evelyn said softly as she sat on the chair that was beside Regan who had picked a book and was now reading it diligently.
She waited for a few moments. When Regan still ignored her, she felt disappointed in herself.
"Your Highness...I couldn’t see that. I couldn’t help but think that even I could be in her place and I would want someone to help me."
At these words, Regan raised his head swiftly and said sharply
"I would never let you be in that situation again."
Evelyn smiled. She knew that behind his anger was a concern for her inside the prince’s heart.
Regan also realized that he just spoke to her forgetting his anger and he had a deeper frown on his forehead now.
Evelyn pressed her lips in a thin line to stop herself from smiling because she knew very well the reason behind Regan’s frown this time.
She didn’t even realize but to some extent now she was starting to understand the prince.
She laid her head on his shoulder and said softly
"I have already asked Ezra to investigate where she was sold. Once she is from slavery then I will ask her to leave."
Though Regan was still frowning, he nodded his head a few moments later as if he understood what Evelyn was saying.
Evelyn sighed in relief seeing this.
After this conversation, Regan picked up the paper and said calmly
"Let’s see your progress. I will dictate and you need to write whatever I will say."
Evelyn was also eager to show her progress so she agreed readily.
After she finished, she felt proud to see the satisfaction in Regan’s eyes.
"Not bad. Your handwriting is not stable for now but you have started to recognize many words now. Write more and your handwriting will improve."
Evelyn nodded her head vigorously.
"I will write every day from now."
Regan smiled forgetting all of his anger.
She looked so cute when she looked determined to work more hard. It made him want to kiss her senselessly.
Regan coughed lightly when he realized where his thoughts were going and said
"Let’s sleep."
Evelyn nodded her head. It was already night now.
The prince must be tired after working all day in the palace.
When Evelyn was about to lie down on the bed, Regan turned towards the bed after blowing off the lamp. The moonlight from the window still illuminated the room just enough.
Regan silently noticed her actions and when she didn’t do anything, he asked playfully.
"No pillow wall today?"
Evelyn halted amidst her actions when she heard this.
She didn’t even dare to raise her head and look at Regan.
Because she didn’t want a pillow wall in between. So she pretended as if she didn’t hear anything however her red ears gave it away.
Regan didn’t tease her any longer but there was a smile on his lips as he lay down on the bed and closed his eyes to sleep.
He knew that Evelyn’s heart was not empty of feelings. He could feel it.
But he didn’t wish to force her to confess.
He could wait for now. If she still didn’t confess, then he might have to give her a little push but for now, he was enjoying this period of their relationship as well.
Though they didn’t sleep in each other arms that night, there was peace in their hearts knowing that the other was by their side.

The next morning after Regan and Rex had left the palace Ezra told Evelyn that he had found out where Peri was sold.
Peri remembered it very well so he didn’t have to do much hard work.
Evelyn was relieved and gave Ezra a pouch of gold coins using which he could free Peri from slavery.
Ezra left with Peri the same afternoon.
According to what he said the village where Peri was sold in Alfaros only ...something which surprised Evelyn because she had thought that like her, Peri was also brought from Zamorin. But it seemed that she was wrong.
"I was from Alfaros only but when I was fifteen, a man from Zamorin bought me and hence I reached Zamorin."
Evelyn nodded her head in understanding.
Though the two empires were at war, slavery was such a big trade that slaves were sometimes exchanged between the other empires as well.
War could never restrict the exchange of slaves.
