Chapter 264: Regan Is Hurt

Chapter 264: Regan Is Hurt

"Arthur is dead."

Regan told Evelyn after he had finished feeding her the meal. Evelyn sat completely still as if not believing what he just said.

Concerned, Regan touched her hand softly and raised it to his lips to kiss lightly.

"What are you thinking?"

Evelyn came out of her trance and shook her head.

"I don’t know."

It is good perhaps. But she felt nothing. She had thought that she would feel relieved when she would hear something like this but it seemed that she was wrong.

She actually felt nothing.

No happiness, no sadness.

But it was good. The kind of powers Arthur possessed ...he could harm anyone with them. So it was good that his existence was wiped out from this world.

However, a few moments later, Evelyn felt upset.

Because she came to know that Regan had to leave again.

However, she tried her best not to show it. She didn’t want him to know that she was upset.

If she behaved like that, it would only prove that Derrick was right ...that she couldn’t become a queen that Regan needed by his side when he would become a king.

Evelyn herself didn’t understand why she was doing this. She knew very well that she would never be able to become Regan’s queen yet she wanted to prove that she could become one.

Her heart was filled with conflict.

She came out of her thoughts when Regan held her hand and said

"Lavo will stay here. I will need to leave with soldiers on foot because Royal City is closer. It is possible that Raphael has planted his people in nearby villages as well."

Evelyn nodded her head in understanding.

At least Lavo was here.

When Regan left, the smile disappeared from her lips soon.

He also told her that he would be taking Derrick with him. The alive Derrick would be enough proof to people that Raphael was deceiving them.

Many soldiers on Raphael’s side might leave him after knowing this.

Evelyn was actually happy to know that Derrick was leaving. She didn’t say ’yes’ to Derrick’s request that day but she was afraid that he would come again to convince her.

She stood at the entrance of her chambers even though Regan had completely left her sight until she heard Lavo’s growl.

A smile immediately made its way on Evelyn’s lips as she moved towards the balcony.

"Lavo!"

The giant creature growled loudly at Evelyn’s call and moved towards her slowly with his paws.

Evelyn laughed when he stretched out his paw in front of her.

"Do you only come to me because of this?"

She asked with a playful smile on her lips but Lavo just mewled lightly as she scratched his paws.

Evelyn sighed as she stepped forward and hugged Lavo.

Evelyn spent most of her time with Lavo in Regan’s absence. She dragged a chair in the balcony and read a book while Lavo sat beside her.

At night, she would stare at the stars with Lavo and she would also have her meals with Lavo.

She was always left surprised by the amount of food Lavo could eat in one go. Also, the giant creature seemed quite possessive about his food.

If any maid or servant tried to help him in cutting the meat into pieces, he would growl at them, indicating them to stay away, thinking that they wanted to take away his food.

It was one night when they were sitting in the silence of the night and staring at the beautiful stars in the night sky when Lavo growled suddenly and quite loudly.

Evelyn was surprised and raised her head to look at him.

"Lavo, what happened?"

However, Lavo looked uncontrollable as he growled again and again.

"Lavo, what are you doing?"

Evelyn held his paw seeing that he was trying to fly. She didn’t know why but she felt scared to let him leave just like that when she didn’t even know what was wrong with him.

However, Lavo suddenly applied force and threw her on his back using the paw she was holding and then started to fly in the sky.

"Lavo!"

The soldiers in the castle who heard Evelyn’s shout looked towards the sky and were confused to see a panicked Evelyn and then they felt helpless as they didn’t know how they were supposed to help Evelyn who slowly disappeared from their sight.

And just like that, Evelyn and Lavo left the whole castle in chaos.

Evelyn didn’t know where Lavo was taking her. She tried to ask him again and again but he wouldn’t reply to her.

It was only almost half an hour later that they stopped and Lavo started to move toward the ground.

Evelyn saw many tents in her sight and slowly she also started to recognize the palace because it was familiar to her.

Was it not the most nearby village to Royal City?

She had passed this village only a few days ago with Derrick.

Seeing the soldiers, Evelyn had a wild guess. Did Lavo bring her to see the prince?

But why so suddenly?

Evelyn remembered when the prince had said that Lavo could sense when he or her were in some danger.

Then could it be...

Evelyn’s eyes widened and she climbed down from the Lavo immediately as soon as the latter’s feet touched the ground.

Lavo had stopped in front of the largest tent and Evelyn assumed that Regan must be inside this. Because Lavo could sense Regan’s presence.

Hence ignoring the shocked soldiers who were guarding the tent, Evelyn walked towards it. She was about to flip the cover when a soldier asked her

"Your Highness...this...let me ask His Highness first whether I can allow you inside or not?"

Evelyn stopped amidst her actions and stepped back a moment later.

"Sure"

She said softly but her heart was filled with anxiety.

Was her prince really hurt?

A few moments later, the entrance of the tent was flipped and it was not the soldiers who stepped outside but it was Regan himself.

He looked surprised to see Evelyn but Evelyn’s eyes were on his naked torso where she could see a deep wound.
