Chapter 263: Leaving For Royal City
Chapter 263: Leaving For Royal City
It was gross to see Arthur vanishing because the same happened to his body whatever happened to William’s body inside Lavo as the latter chewed his flesh and swallowed him with his bones.
Regan and Rex left Lavo alone to let the creature devour his food and the soldiers never dared to stay around. They were left shocked by whatever they saw.
It was not only Lavo who amazed them but what happened to Arthur also left them amazed.
But no one had the time to stay surprised.
They still need to go to Royal City and remove Raphael from there.
A soldier came amidst all this and told Regan.
"His Highness Prince Raphael is going to crown himself as the next king. He has declared that His Majesty is already dead and it is Your Highness and Her Highness who killed His Majesty."
The soldier who was reciting whatever he had received from the spies was also shocked.
Raphael was literally crossing all the limits.
If the citizens demanded evidence for Derrick’s death then what will he do? Will he suppress them by violence?
Since a few nobles were on Raphael’s side, it could also lead to a civil war.
The situation would get more serious if they didn’t do anything soon.
Regan and Rex also had somber expression on their faces.
"Make arrangements. We will depart for the Royal City in two hours."
Rex nodded his head agreeing with Regan.
After the soldier left, Rex walked to his brother and said
"Go and see Evelyn once before leaving. She deserves to know that she doesn’t need to stay scared anymore."
Regan nodded his head though quite stiffly.
He remembered his behavior from before. He wondered if Evelyn was angry at him. Now he wondered if he overreacted.
He should have tried to understand her.
It was not he who was scared of Arthur. It was not he who had suffered. Evelyn did and he could never imagine what all she had gone through Arthur’s hands.
It was natural for her to feel insecure and scared knowing that Arthur could feel her presence. No amount of her trust in him and security around her could reduce that fear.
Regan sighed and closed his eyes as he watched Rex leaving the tent.
He should go and apologize to Evelyn.
Hence, in less than an hour later, Regan was standing outside his chambers but too stressed to go inside because he didn’t know how he should apologize to his wife.
Elias looked at his master in confusion who was just pacing around but not entering the chambers.
"Your Highness, is everything alright?"
Elias asked finally and Regan merely nodded his head. But a moment later he stopped and asked Elias.
"How do you apologize to someone when you have committed a mistake?"
"Did Your Highness commit a mistake? How can that be possible?!"
Elias asked out aloud with shock filled eyes. It was as if he couldn’t believe at all that his master could do something wrong. His master was too perfect to do anything wrong.
However, Regan felt irritated on getting the answer he wanted.
Seeing this, Elias immediately composed himself and said
"Your Highness, we apologize and ensure them we won’t do it again."
Elias said with an obvious expression on his face. Though he didn’t know why his master asked such a question, he tried his best to help him. However, Regan was still not satisfied.
That was such a dry apology.
He remembered Evelyn’s pain filled eyes when he had left the chambers without looking at her back. She must be very hurt. No amount of apology could reduce that pain.
He also looked at Elias to whom he had asked for suggestions. He actually chose the wrong person.
He should have asked help from Rex but there was no guarantee that Rex would not enjoy his state though in the end would have helped him.
In the end, Regan sighed and entered the chambers.
He would apologize and just ask her to punish him. He would do anything she wanted as long as she could forgive him.
When Regan stepped inside the chambers, he saw Evelyn seated on the dining table with a lost expression on her face.
The plate filled with food was placed in front of her but she didn’t seem to have anything from it.
Was it because of him? Regan wondered with guilt filled eyes.
It must be. He should perhaps leave lest he upsets her again by showing his face to her.
However just when he had turned around, he heard Evelyn’s surprise filled voice.
"Your Highness!"
Regan’s body was stiff and he didn’t dare to turn around.
But he didn’t need to because Evelyn walked to him immediately and held his arm as if afraid that he would leave again.
"Your Highness, are you leave again? I apologize ...please don’t leave me."
Evelyn’s voice was choked by the time she finished her words.
Regan was surprised and shocked and this time finally turned to look at her. Seeing her tear filled eyes, he felt as if someone had squeezed his heart until he could feel nothing but pain.
"Your Highness, please...I won’t do that every again."
Evelyn whispered as she stepped forward and put his arms around his waist and her head on his chest.
Regan’s heart melted. He put his arms around her petite frame as he stroked her hair. Her shoulders trembled as she sobbed softly while he wondered why she was apologizing to him.
It should be he who should apologize.
"Don’t cry..."
He almost pleaded when he saw that she was not stopping at all.
"I am really sorry...I shouldn’t have walked out like that."
He said finally but Evelyn shook her head.
"It was my fault."
However, Regan frowned and said firmly.
"It was my fault. Don’t say otherwise."
But in return, Evelyn glared at him and said more firmly.
"I said that it was my fault."
"And I said that I was at fault."
They looked at each other silently before both of them smiled and shook their heads. Evelyn smiled amidst her tears and placed her head on her prince’s chest again.
It felt so nice.
It made her forget everything she was worrying about.
If only she could stay like this forever.
