Chapter 260: Finding Out Arthur’s Secrets

"Grandmother and Grandfather never had a child, Regan."

Rex told Regan what he had read from the journal.

It shocked him that Regina could write such a huge truth in a journal that was placed in an open library. Anyone could read them and come to know of this.

But it also showed that Regina didn’t have any greed for power. She didn’t care whether she was really an heir of the Royal family of Mazic and hence deserved to rule the city. She had promised the man who took care of her as her father that she would take care of Mazic till her last breath and that was what she did. She loved taking care of people and her people accepted her regardless of who she was. They loved her because of her kind heart and the empathy she felt for them.

She didn’t fear the truth and didn’t grieve when she came to know that her parents were not her real parents. She accepted it and even left it openly but never revealed it on her own.

It made Rex wonder whether she didn’t find it important enough to do so or whether she just wanted things to let them be.

As Rex was silent, Regan had already found that entry and read what Regina had written.

Regina couldn’t find out much except that her father was a wizard and she was the last in the line of witches. Except for her, there were longer any wizards or witches in any of the four empires.

So it meant that...

"Arthur’s spell doesn’t work on you, Regan."

Rex just concluded what Regan was thinking.

Regan nodded his head in response. No wonder Arthur didn’t put a spell on him. Perhaps he had tried before but soon realized that the spell didn’t work on him.

Regan flipped another page and continued to read the next entry.

Rex was still lost in his own thoughts.

"Mother says that every spell can be broken but it is difficult to find out how to break them."

Regan whispered as he shut the book.

There was no longer anything written on magic and spells after that entry. After that, his mother wrote about how Alfaros attacked Mazic.

She must be busy protecting her city and hence couldn’t give her time for all these things later on.

Regan stared at the book silently while Rex put his chin on his fist. His eyes were narrowed as he thought deeply and suddenly spoke up a moment later.

"We can’t kill Arthur with a sword. But there must be a way to kill him. Is there a spell where he can put his life as well? If yes, then where will he put it?"

The words sounded stupid to Rex himself but the things he had witnessed in the past few days didn’t make them stupid.

Apparently, Arthur’s life didn’t reside in his body otherwise he would have died when Regan used his sword on him.

On the other hand, Rex’s words made something flash in Regan’s mind.

He suddenly remembered the bruise he had seen on Arthur’s wrist when he had come to him after taking Rex’s physical appearance.

That bruise...

Regan’s eyes widened for a moment before he looked at Rex and said

"I think that I know."

Rex’s eyes also widened slightly but Regan didn’t say anything else.

He just stood up and then left the library followed by Rex.

Regan and Rex returned to the border soon after but this time, with another person with them and that was William.

Since they had William as well, they used a carriage while Lavo followed them back while flying in the sky.

Henry was surprised when he saw William. Not only he but the soldiers themselves looked disappointed because they thought that Regan and Rex were going to accept Arthur’s proposal.

"Your Highness, we will fight till our last breath but please don’t leave him."

A soldier looked at William in contempt as he said these words and requested Rex.

William who was still confused regarding everything suddenly realized what was going on.

So he was going to get free?

A smirk graced his lips as he looked at Regan however the latter ignored him completely.

Rex walked to the soldier and patted his shoulder as he said calmly

"We can’t let our people waste their lives on such b****ds, can we?"

The soldier frowned confused by the calm smile on Rex’s lips. Should not the prince be upset that they had to give up like this?

However, Rex didn’t explain himself.

It was Regan who turned to Henry and said

"Send a letter to Sir Arthur..."

Regan’s voice was mocking when he said ’Sir Arthur’.

"We accept his proposal. But he needs to come here and sign a paper. If he and his dear friend dare to attack Alfaros again then we will show the paper to the other four empires and settle the business through them only."

Henry though had a grim expression on his face nodded his head in understanding.

That was a wise thing to do.

If Arthur and William broke their part of the deal then the four other Empires were supposed to help Alfaros.

Hence, Henry wrote the letter and send it to the other side.

It was around an hour later that there was finally a movement from the other side.

It was not a reply that came but Arthur himself with a few of his soldiers. Seeing this, Henry also moved away many soldiers from the tents and kept the same amount of soldiers as Arthur had near the two princes’ tents.

Arthur had a smirk on his lips as he climbed down from his horse and walked towards the tent.

The soldiers felt furious to see this but they couldn’t do anything.

In the end, Arthur stepped inside the tent. His eyes immediately found William who was seated beside Rex and Regan with his hands and feet tied with ropes.

William’s eyes gleamed with approval when he saw Arthur however the latter had only disgust in his eyes.

If only he had not been helpless because of William, he would not have had to sign such a humiliating treaty.

It was humiliating for Arthur to accept that he was giving up on Evelyn something he would have never done till his last breath if the circumstances had been different.

After all, Evelyn was his wife.
