The Masked prince -
Chapter 254: Would Regan Agree?
Chapter 254: Would Regan Agree?
Regan walked in long strides towards his wife who covered his back with her dress and didn’t dare to look into his eyes.
Evelyn closed her eyes wondering how she didn’t think about it.
Elias usually informed her before someone entered her chambers by knocking on the doors. However, Regan was her husband and the prince. He could enter these chambers and leave whenever he wanted.
Elias wouldn’t announce his arrival.
She should have at least locked the doors before doing such a thing.
Hannah, Miri and Amy gulped in fear seeing the angry prince and immediately took their leaves. Regan looked at their backs with a frown on his forehead before looking at Evelyn with the same expression as he asked again
"Evelyn, what was going on here?"
"That....Your Highness...I..."
Evelyn fell silent without explaining her actions.
Regan sighed. He held her arm and made her sit on the bed.
After that, he laid down on the bed with his head on her lap as he asked again in a quite serious voice.
"Tell me what was going on? Don’t be scared. Have I ever hurt you?"
Evelyn shook her head immediately as she looked at his face.
She had never thought a person even having a mask could look so beautiful. Or perhaps it was his eyes...but she was always left slightly dazed whenever she looked at him or heard his deep voice.
"Now tell me...If it was something stupid, the only thing I am going to do is to scold you."
Evelyn was left speechless at these words and looked at Regan who had closed his eyes. Only then she noticed the ytraces of exhaustion on his faces.
Guilt filled her heart immediately.
He had been running here and there since so many days. Before he was on the border fighting against a whole army, when he returned he had to find her and when he found her they were under attack.
She couldn’t help but move her hand forward to stroke his hair gently.
A small smile graced Regan’s lips when he felt her touch.
He opened his eyes as he looked at her and said quite softly this time.
"I am waiting for you to speak."
Evelyn told him everything and she was surprised that Regan heard everything patiently. However, after she finished, Regan looked at her with quite a serious expression on his face as he said
"You don’t need to do any such thing. I will kill him and then all the spells created by him will break away."
Evelyn frowned in response and couldn’t help but say
"What is he entered the castle before that?"
"That wouldn’t happen."
Regan said firmly as he sat down on the bed.
Evelyn realized that her words had triggered him. She could sense that Regan somewhere blamed himself that he couldn’t protect her. Both of them were same.
When one was in trouble, the other blamed himself.
"Your Highness...I don’t feel comfortable knowing that he can always sense where I am."
Evelyn said honestly. She could see that Regan’s resolve was breaking.
"I ...how can I allow you to bring pain to yourself?"
Regan whispered to himself.
However, Evelyn was firm with her decision and said
"Even if Your Highness tops me now, I can do it on my own in Your Highness’ absence.
Regan was speechless when he heard Evelyn’s words.
"Do you not trust me with your protection?"
He asked in a hurt laced voice. Evelyn shook her head immediately. She never meant it that way. She could not help but take a deep breath and think before she said to Regan
"Your Highness, both of us know that Arthur is not a weak opponent. I have an intuition that killing him is not going to be easy for us. We still don’t know just how many spells he knows and what they can do. We only have our physical strength and brain with us to fight against him. But even for that, we can’t leave any advantage for him. If he always knows about my whereabouts, we are giving him an advantage. What if he found me out somehow and used me against Your Highness. I would never wish to be Your Highness’ weakness."
Regan opened his mouth but didn’t have any counter to Evelyn’s words.
In the end, he sighed and pulled her in his arms as he said with a great difficulty.
"Give me three days. I will kill him by then and then you don’t need to feel scared of him. If I couldn’t then I wouldn’t stop you anymore."
Evelyn knew that Regan had already conceded and she could only give in now.
What she didn’t know was that Regan was not going to allow her to do such a thing even after three days. No matter what he would never let anyone hurt her...not even herself.
She was slightly disappointed when Regan left just after that.
"I have three days. I am going to do everything I can do."
Regan said softly as he kissed her forehead before he left.

The next evening, when the soldiers from both the sides gathered to fight, Regan himself climbed on the horse and crossed the border with his soldiers while Rex commanded the army in his place. Rex could understand that Regan wanted to finish the war soon and kill Arthur.
Arthur had brought the army from Royal Palace which had Raphael’s men.
They doubted that during their absence, Raphael got a golden chance to get his own people. Rex also doubted that any one of the four empire was helping Raphael.
However, they didn’t have that many people with them.
Their soldiers were already tired after a war hence Rex also wished that the war would end soon.
On the other side of the border, Regan’s sword slashed anyone who came his way. His eyes were on Arthur who was surrounding by his soldiers and was protected well.
The promise he had made to Evelyn flashed in his mind.
He would kill Arthur today and there was no longer any restriction on him now.
Arthur was now a betrayer of Alfaros and deserved death.
Regan moved towards Arthur with a fast speed. All the soldiers who came his way were killed or injured by him effortlessly.
Yet what happened after reaching Arthur was never expected by Regan...never in his dreams.
