Chapter 251: Would Arthur Return?

The first thing Regan did was to called Henry after stepping inside his chambers and ordered

"No one is allowed to exit the castle and enter inside as long as I command otherwise."

Henry was confused but bowed his head respectfully and said

"As Your Highness says."

Hence, the castle gates were closed until Regan’s further order.

After Henry left, Regan first gave an ointment from his closet to Rex and said

"Apply this on your wounds. I will ask a maid to send Dan to your chambers."

Rex smiled. There was still a bruise on his forehead but his eyes were filled with playfulness as he said

"So you still love me, huh?"

"I will always do, Rex."

Regan said calmly as he looked at his brother.

Evelyn who was seated on the bed smiled when she saw Rex’s speechless expression. Before this, whenever Rex had teased Regan, the latter used to shove him away rudely but today Regan had give an sincere response to Rex...something which left Rex speechless.

He looked awkward as he muttered under his breath.

"Too much sweetness..."

Or something like that, before he turned around to leave without saying anything else.

Regan smiled as he looked at his back. Then he turned around and looked at his wife.

Sitting beside her, he applied the ointment from the other bottle in his hand on her swollen cheek.

Evelyn didn’t wince but Regan knew that it must be hurting. It must have hurt at least when he hit her.

He had never dared to even raise his voice on his wife and Arthur dared to raise his hand and hit her.

He will make Arthur pay for this. Arthur’s breaths were counted now.

Regan came out of his thoughts when he heard Evelyn say

"We need to be more careful now, Your Highness. He can change his physical features as well. I am afraid that he would be able to enter the castle easily."

Regan sighed when he saw Evelyn’s eyes filled with worry. He stroked her hair as he said firmly.

"I am here now. Don’t worry...he will not be able to even step around you as long as I am with you."

Evelyn nodded her head with a smile on her lips. Regan’s embrace was the only place which made her feel so safe and protective in this world.

"I will send the maid with some meal for you."

Regan whispered. His eyes were filled with distress seeing how much weight she had lost.

However, Evelyn shook her head and said

"I am full for now and want to just sleep. But would Your Highness arrange some meal for Lavo? I am afraid that Arthur starved him for so many days."

Regan was surprised as well as happy seeing that Evelyn was being so open for the first time. He smiled as he nodded his head. He could see the exhaustion on her face.

After tucking her inside the blanket, Regan waited until Evelyn started to breath evenly and then exited the chambers. As soon as he stepped outside, he saw Derrick standing outside.

"Did you find her and Rex?"

"Yes, Your Majesty"

Regan answered emotionlessly.

Derrick looked relieved and asked further.

"How is she?"

He had seen Rex on his way here. Rex seemed to have some bruises here and there but looked fine otherwise. But he didn’t know anything about Evelyn for now.

Regan wondered if it was concern that he sensed in Derrick’s voice when the latter asked about Evelyn but he didn’t ponder much on this and said .

"Yes"

He gave a one-word response again. Anyways it didn’t concern Derrick even if Evelyn was not well. Regan thought that Derrick was just being formal.

And sure enough, after hearing the answer, Derrick looked awkward and at the lack of what to say. Just when he was wondering if he should leave, he heard Regan say

"Arthur knows magic."

Derrick frowned. He had received a letter from Regan saying the same before but he had been doubtful regarding this.

"Do you mean to say that he is a wizard?"

But how can it be possible? Wizards ceased to exist long ago.

Regan shook his head with a deep frown on his face as he answered a moment later

"I don’t know about that. But he knows some spells ...some quite powerful spells I should say. He can change his physical appearance and look like others. The man who came and took Evelyn away was not Rex but Arthur who had taken Rex’s appearance."

Derrick was shocked to hear such a thing. He didn’t know that such a thing existed even today.

"I have only read about such things in books...and that too in quite old books."

Regan didn’t comment on that but continued what he wanted to say

"There are chances that now he would go and collude with Raphael."

Derrick’s face went sombre when he heard this.

"Then we should go and make Raphael submit to us first."

Derrick said calmly as he folded his hand behind his back with a thoughtful expression on his face.

Regan however continued to frown. He didn’t know if it would work.

After knowing that Arthur could even change his physician appearance, he was not sure that they could defeat him just like that. Even if he went to Royal City to fight against Raphael, Arthur could appear in any form and he might not get to know like he discovered this time.

"No...we shall wait for him here."

Regan said finally after thinking for a few moments.

"Regan...are you sure that he will come here?"

"He will."

Regan said firmly.

Regan was inside the same cell where William was locked at this moment. He smirked seeing how baffled William looked to see him back.

So William knew at that moment that the Rex who showed up was none other than Arthur and he had also been sure that Regan would never return back.

"Your dear friend ran away."

Regan said very calmly and enjoyed the colours flying away from William’s face but it was only for a moment before William laughed and said confidently.

"He will return."

William had been very beaten very badly now and his whole face was covered with bruises and blood. However, his confidence was the one thing which never reduced.

It made Regan wonder what was the reason behind him having such a trust in Arthur. He was sure by now that it was anything but the friendship they shared.

In fact, from how could he have known about Arthur and William upto now...these people could never cherish emotional relations. So what kind of thing William possessed of Arthur which would made Arthur come here and save him?

Regan was going to find it out and make sure that Arthur would lose it forever.
