Chapter 250: Reunion
Chapter 250: Reunion
"Regan!"
Regan raised his head when he heard another familiar voice and his whole body relaxed when he saw Rex walking towards him.
He frowned when he saw Rex limping down the stairs. Immediately, Regan walked to his brother and supported his body.
Evelyn followed him silently.
"What happened?"
Regan asked in deadly cold voice.
"Nothing."
Rex closed his eyes and answered. He was too ashamed to tell his brother how he fell in Arthur’s trap and became the reason for Evelyn being here.
Evelyn knew Rex’s thoughts. In the past few days, he had only apologized to her whenever she had gone to apply medicinal paste on his wounds. She had told him many times that he was not at fault.
She was sure that Regan would be more better in such a task.
"It is him, right?"
Regan said coldly as he helped Rex down the stairs.
Rex didn’t say anything but Regan eyes moved to Evelyn’s cheek. Though the swelling had reduced to a great extent, the corner of her lip was torn and clear fingerprints could be seen very well.
His whole body was filled with rage but he controlled himself. However, he was not going to leave Arthur alive after this. It would be a sheer stupidity to let such a man breathe.
Just when, they were lost in their own thoughts, they suddenly heard Lavo’s growl and hence all of them moved towards the entrance immediately.
Evelyn’s eyes were filled with worry because she thought that Arthur was again hitting Lavo so she looked at Regna and said immediately
"Your Highness, Lavo...Arthur put some spell on him and...
"He is alright now"
Regan assured Evelyn in a gentle voice and Evelyn as well as Rex sighed in relief.
However, Regan’s eyes were looking around for Arthur. A curse escaped his lips as he realized that in his happiness of finding Rex and Evelyn, he forget to pay attention to Arthur.
It seemed that Arthur had escaped.
Just when, he was thinking, a flap of wings was heard and the three of them saw Lavo coming down from the sky and stopping in front of them on the ground.
"Lavo!"
Evelyn immediately ran towards Lavo and hugged him. She was very small compared to him but she hugged whatever part of him she could hold. A tear unconsciously slid down her eyes as she whispered again.
"I am so sorry."
He had to face that man again because of her.
In response, the giant creature mewled lightly and even used his wing to wipe away Evelyn’s tear. Evelyn was so touched that more tears followed but laughed between her tears when she saw Lavo extended his paw towards her.
She scratched him with a grin on her lips as he mewled in joy.
"Let’s go back. The two of you need rest."
Said Regan as he moved towards Lavo and patted him lightly. This time, Lavo’s growl was loud and filled with power. Regan smiled as he climbed him. Then he helped Evelyn climbing in front of him while Rex sat behind him with his help.
Before leaving the forest, Regan made a whole round of the forest once hoping to find Arthur. However, he couldn’t find Arthur anywhere. In the end, he had to give up because he knew that Rex needed a physician. He looked at Evelyn who was resting against his chest. Her face was completely pale as if she had not rested for many days.
So he decided to leave.
There was also another reason to leave behind Arthur for Regan.
Regan remembered William’s words.
William had been so confident that Arthur would come to save him and apparently he did. He had heard him asking not to beat up William, didn’t he?
Perhaps Arthur had thought that after removing him from his path, he would be able to free William completely.
So he was now going to keep William alive and wait for Arthur to appear.
.
.
.
Lavo descended in the balcony of Regan’s chambers.
The giant creature turned to look at Evelyn as soon as the latter climbed down with Regan’s help. Evelyn smiled with relief. Only she knew how happy she was to see Lavo back to normal.
"Lavo...does your wounds still hurt?"
Evelyn asked softly as she searched his body for the wounds. However, she could no longer find them. As Lavo growled in response, she heard Regan say
"It must have healed. His healing speed is faster than a normal human or any other creature."
Evelyn remembered Arthur saying this to her as well but she was still worried about Lavo.
Caressing his head softly which he had bowed in front of her as he sniffed her, Evelyn’s eyes went cold as she said to Regan
"Your Highness said that when Lavo met Your Highness, he had many wounds on his body...Arthur said that it was he who gave those wounds to Lavo ...to keep him in check."
Regan and Rex who heard her didn’t look surprise when they heard this.
In the end, when Regan saw Evelyn’s eyes filling up with tears, he pulled her away from Lavo making the latter growl in irritation but Regan ignored him and said
"You need rest. Come"
Evelyn nodded her head but before leaving she looked at Lavo and then at Regan as she said
"I think we should let Lavo stay here only. What if he found him and put a spell on him again..."
Regan nodded his head after a moment of thinking.
Then he looked at Lavo and said strictly.
"But you are not allowed to leave this balcony."
This was important for others’ safety.
Lavo growled as if in acknowledgement. Evelyn smiled and promised him to come and see him after having some rest.
"You should also rest for some time. I will ask the maid to send some meal for you."
Evelyn said softly as she caressed his head for one last time.
After that, Rex and Evelyn left the balcony with Regan.
