Chapter 246: The Secret Mark

Arthur has started to stay absent more and more. Evelyn could also see a kind of panic on his face. She wondered what was going on outside.

Once she was in Rex’s room applying the medicinal paste on his wounds when Arthur suddenly appeared there.

Evelyn was startled but relieved when he didn’t scold her instead said

"My Evelyn worry about everyone."

Saying this, Arthur dragged her out of the room and took her to the room where he was forcefully keeping her with himself.

When she was lying on the bed in his arms, Evelyn couldn’t help but ask him.

"How do you find me every time?"

In the past two days, she had noticed that Arthur would find her immediately wherever she was. And a few moments ago happened the same. He easily found her in the room where Rex was locked.

It was only two days ago where he had slapped her because he thought that she was running away. Even at that time, Evelyn had seen that he was looking towards the kitchen...as if he knew that she was there.

It made Evelyn had a guess which only made her heart sink.

Arthur chuckled when he heard the question and said mysteriously.

"That’s a secret."

Evelyn blinked realizing that her guess was not wrong. So there was indeed something. She needed to find it out at any cost. Otherwise he would always find her out and she would not be able to run away.

Just when she was thinking, Arthur suddenly hovered over her body and asked her

"How did you get out of Royal Palace?"

He had this question inside her heart since the moment he had not found her inside the Royal Chambers. It was the first time that Arthur doubted his abilities.

After that, he sensed Evelyn many times but he was not sure if he would be able to find her there and then he saw Rex.

At that moment, he knew that Regan and Rex knew about his absence and hence he would need to reach Evelyn before Rex otherwise his Evelyn would be taken away from him again.

That’s why he first trapped Rex and then brought him here. After taking Rex’s physical features, he finally went to Mazic hoping that Evelyn would come there and she did.

"There was a secret passage in the chambers. His Majesty brought me out from there."

Arthur nodded his head realizing that his abilities didn’t prove wrong. She was still inside that secret passage and that’s why he could feel her presence there.

Evelyn looked at him silently. She had given him an honest answer because she wanted to gain his trust. Only by doing so, she could get the answer to her own questions.

"Would you not tell me how can you find so easily every time?"

She asked softly and sure enough, Arthur melted at her words.

It made Evelyn wonder if she was a bad person but she needed to do it to protect herself, Lavo and Rex. Evelyn was sure that Rex was kept here by Arthur for some purpose. She was also sure that Regan would come looking for her and she feared that Arthur’s plans were same as that of Raphael...bringing her prince down using Rex.

Evelyn came out of her thoughts when she was suddenly flipped by Arthur. Now she was lying on her stomach. Her eyes widened with panic when she felt Arthur reaching the zip of her dress.

"Arthur...what are you doing?"

She tried her best to sound shy even though all her body was completely still because of panic and disgust.

Arthur snickered as he pulled down the zip in one go making Evelyn clutch the bedsheet tightly

Oh god...not this!

Evelyn prayed silently. However, all she felt was a caress on a particular spot on her back. She frowned as Arthur continued to caress the same spot.

A memory flashed in Evelyn’s mind.

"My Lady has a beautiful eagle drawn on her back in black colour..."

Could it be that...

"The day I first saw you in Mazic...I left my mark on you through my spell. This mark releases a scent ...a scent that can be inhaled by me even at the greater distances between us. I can sense your presence from wherever you are. When you stepped inside the Royal Palace...I could sense it. I sensed that you stayed there for so many days so I realized that Raphael was upto something so I immediately came looking for you."

Evelyn couldn’t even say anything. She only wondered silently just how many spells did Arthur know.

Forcing a smile on her lips, she turned slightly and was relieved when Arthur let her.

Finally laying on her back and covering the naked back, she looked at Arthur and smiled tightly.

"I was so worried about you."

Arthur whispered as he caressed Evelyn’s still swollen cheek. His eyes filling up with guilt again remembering how he had slapped her.

Arthur had realized long ago that he lost himself sometimes in his anger and two days ago happened the same when he didn’t see Evelyn by his side on opening his eyes.

If she had stayed by his side obediently then this wouldn’t have happened.

He justified himself but also told himself that he needed to control his anger. He wouldn’t even blink if he killed anyone else in his anger...but he didn’t want to hurt his Evelyn in any condition.

On the other hand, Evelyn was lost in her own thoughts.

"Does your spell put such a mark on everyone’s body."

Evelyn blurted out without thinking. Arthur’s eyes flickered when he heard her question and they narrowed slightly. Evelyn smiled immediately and said calmly

"I was just curious."

At her words, the frown on Arthur’s forehead relaxed a little and he nodded his head lightly as he said

"I know what a little curious cat you have been since childhood."

Arthur snickered again as he scratched her nose and Evelyn could only pretend to be embarrassed.

However, inside her heart she decided to check such a mark on Lavo’s body in his absence.
