Chapter 242: Locked (1)

Chapter 242: Locked (1)

Arthur closeness did make Evelyn feel uncomfortable but she didn’t have any other choice as Arthur made her sit on the couch and then ran somewhere to bring her some water and something to eat.

According to him, she must be hungry.

In normal circumstances, Evelyn would have really felt hungry but at this moment, she didn’t really have any appetite.

A tear slid down her eyes again as she watched Lavo cowering in the corner.

She immediately walked to him and touched his wing.

"Lavo..."

She called out in a whisper but when the giant creature looked towards her, Evelyn found nothing in his eyes. The brightness that she used to see earlier in his eyes was lost completely.

She suddenly wondered why Lavo didn’t defend himself and attacked back when Arthur was beating him.

Why did he continued to just bear the pain?!

It reminded Evelyn of what Regan had told her.

Arthur knew how to control someone’s mind. Was it possible that he controlled Lavo’s mind as well? No wonder Lavo let Arthur ride him.

Her heart sank down to the bottom of her chest when she concluded this.

She didn’t even know how to break Arthur’s spell.

The giant creature suddenly rested his head on the floor and Evelyn immediately saw the wound on his body.

"Lavo...it must hurt..."

Evelyn whispered in a pain filled voice as her fingers hovered over his wounds, not daring to touch them.

She hesitated before touching his head and stroking it lightly. He didn’t give any reaction and it made Evelyn feel as if she had lost something.

Because she saw a tear sliding down his eyes. Evelyn had never seen Lavo’s tears. She had only heard about it from Regan’s mouth but today she witnessed and her heart broke seeing Lavo like this.

"I am so sorry..."

She whispered hoping that he could understand her but clearly he couldn’t.

"Why are you crying?"

Evelyn flinched when she heard the rage filled voice and immediately saw Arthur with a tray in his hands.

Putting the tray on the couch, he walked to her and looked at her tear stained face before his eyes went to Lavo.

"Evelyn, did he do something?"

"No!"

Evelyn almost shouted when she saw that Arthur was ready to hit Lavo again. Arthur’s lips were pressed in a thin line when he saw that she was blocking him again.

"You can’t do this."

He said coldly as he held her arm and made her forcefully stand her on her feet. After that, he dragged her to the couch and made her sit there as he hovered over her and said in an anger filled voice

"Evelyn, I am warning you. If you blocked anyone when I am angry in such a way again then I will punish you very badly."

Evelyn’s eyes were blank...empty of any fear.

She just looked at him and almost pleaded

"Can you not beat him please?"

Arthur frowned when he heard Evelyn’s words. But a moment later, his eyes softened. Of course, his Evelyn would feel pity for everyone...even if it was a giant creature whom everyone feared.

His Evelyn’s heart was like this only and he was happy that she had not changed at all despite so many years have passed.

He couldn’t help but stroke her cheek gently while Evelyn could do anything to crawl away from his touch. When she heard Arthur’s next words, her heart couldn’t help but feel a cold chill.

"He is used to this. Don’t worry about him. Before I sent him to the battlefield, it was I who controlled him and he needs to be beaten once in a while to stay tamed. He is also under my spell so he won’t harm me and you. So don’t worry about anything."

Evelyn’s chin quivered because she suddenly remembered how Regan had told her that Lavo was covered with wounds when Regan had found him.

But then she should not be surprised by Arthur’s words.

Had she not seen already his brutality when he had killed a dog so brutally and Oliver as well without any hesitation?

Evelyn swallowed the lump inside her throat as she looked at Lavo again who was still lying on the ground as if he had lost all his strength.

She couldn’t let it continue.

Her eyes went to Arthur again and her fists clenched hard seeing the softness in her eyes. It diidn’t move her heart at all but it did move her mind.

She would never use someone’s emotion but she would use Arthur’s emotions against him if it was necessary to save her people.

"He saved my life."

She whispered as softly as she could hiding the anger in her voice.

"I was left inside an arena with forty hungry lions with a few other slaves. At that time, it was he who saved my life. Otherwise I would not be sitting here in front of you. Can you still hit him like this knowing what he did for you?"

Evelyn was not sure if her method would work. But she saw the conflict in Arthur’s eyes. His eyes then moved to Lavo and then the next moment, she heard him say

"It is his duty."

"No!"

Evelyn retorted immediately.

"He was not under you back then but he still saved my life. Arthur...please don’t behave like this with him."

Evelyn said so softly that Arthur’s heart melted at the sight immediately. There was no longer any anger in his eyes and he immediately gave in.

"Alright, since you say so...I will not hit him."

Evelyn breathed a sigh of relief.

She licked her lips before she spoke

"Can you also arrange some medicine for his wounds?"

Evelyn wanted to ask some medicine from Rex’s wounds as well but then she remembered that the ointment from Lavo’s wings could also heal Rex’s wounds.

She first needed something to heal Lavo’s wounds.

However, this time Arthur rejected her demand and said calmly

"They would heal on their own. He is a mystical creature. His wounds heals faster...and I am not going to leave you here again. What if you ran away!"

Arthur’s eyes went sharp when he said his last few words.

Evelyn sighed and she could only give up. She knew that she couldn’t cross her limits. She first needed to gain Arthur’s trust.

Only then she would be able to help herself.
