The Masked prince -
Chapter 241: The Bitter Revelation
Chapter 241: The Bitter Revelation
Evelyn composed herself after a few minutes.
She wiped her tears with the back of her hands and crawled to Rex whose face was beaten back and blue. Her eyes couldn’t help but fill up with tears.
It was all because of her!
Before she wished that Regan would come to save her...but after witnessing how powerful Arthur’s spells were, Evelyn suddenly wished otherwise.
She didn’t want to see her prince like this. She would die a thousand deaths if something happened to him.
Wiping her tears again, Evelyn lifted Rex’s head and put it in her lap to examine the wounds on his face.
There must be more on his body but she didn’t know what she could do to help him. As she looked at Rex, Lavos’ thought flashed in her mind.
Lavo would never let anyone else ride himself except the prince. Then did ...Arthur put a spell on Lavo as well?
It might be possible because Lavo came from Zamorin only. So it was possible that before the prince, it was Arthur who controlled Lavo.
Remembering the giant creature who was unable to even speak about his miseries, Evelyn felt her heart aching.
The helplessness made her feel so useless that she wished that she was no longer alive.
It would have been better perhaps if she had died in the arena that day.
Just when she was lost in her thoughts, Evelyn flinched hearing a loud growl.
Her eyes widened because she recognized it very well. It belonged to Lavo. The fear of Arthur was replaced with worry for Lavo and without any hesitation, Evelyn opened the door and ran down the stairs only to be shocked by the scene in the huge hall.
There stood Arthur kicking Lavo here and there while the latter tried to protect himself by covering his body with his wings.
He was growling before but now his cries were more like mewls.
Evelyn thought that she would never be able to forget the scene in front of her eyes in her whole life. And she would only consider Arthur a monster after seeing such a scene.
Without any hesitation, she ran towards Lavo and threw herself in front of him. A heavy kick landed on her back but Evelyn didn’t even whimper.
All she could hear was Lavo’s mewls and it hurt her heart. How she wished to take his all pain away! It was he who saved her life in the arena that day yet all she was giving him was pain.
The kicks stopped instantly and Arthur eyes widened when he realized that it was Evelyn whom he kicked just now.
"Evelyn!"
He shouted immediately and pulled her away from Lavo with one rough move.
"Evelyn, I am so sorry my love...are you alright?"
The words made Evelyn feel disgusted and the touch on her shoulder made her feel as if ants were crawling on her skin but she couldn’t step away even if she wanted to because Arthur’s hold on her was very tight.
"Evelyn, I am asking you something. Are you alright?"
Arthur asked in a quite loud voice this time when he didn’t find her responding to this question. Evelyn flinched at the loud voice making him feel angry with himself.
"I am so sorry..."
He apologized again as he wiped the tears on her cheeks gently yet all Evelyn felt was disgust. She wondered how he could change so suddenly.
The expression on his face when he was kicking Lavo anywhere his leg found the place was so fearful and yet now he was so gentle.
Evelyn screamed when Arthur picked her up in his arms but shut her mouth shrinking herself the next moment. She saw that he was walking towards the couch inside the hall. There he made her sit down and then walked to her back.
Evelyn stiffened when she realized that he was trying to open her dress.
She immediately stood up from the couch and shook her head while saying continuously.
"No...please Arthur no!"
The memory of him touching her in such a disgusting way was very alive in her heart and mind. At that time, she didn’t even know the meaning behind those touches and yet she had felt so disgusted.
Now she even knew what those touches meant and it made her feel more and more disgusted than she could ever feel.
Regan’s touch had never made her feel like this.
Arthur’s touch made her want to scratch her skin until she couldn’t feel it anymore and her prince’s touch...it made her feel alive and she craved for more and more.
"Evelyn...I need to check if you are hurt."
Arthur frowned and said strictly. However, Evelyn shook her head vigorously as she said
"I am alright. Nothing happened to me."
There must be actually a bruise on her back with the way he was kicking her but she didn’t want him to look at her body.
Arthur frowned deeply and then asked another question and that too in a cold voice.
"Why did you step in the way? Did you not see that I was beating him?"
By the end of his words, Arthur’s voice was loud and filled with anger. Evelyn flinched again. She never flinched in front of Raphael in the palace. It was all a pretense to make Raphael feel that she was afraid of him.
However, in front of Arthur, even if she didn’t wish to, her body had her own instincts. She could never feel safe and fearless with Arthur.
Her gut churned even at the sight of him.
Perhaps Arthur noticed that she was scared of him and cursed loudly as he kicked the couch in anger. This was not what he wanted.
He wanted to find Evelyn whom his mother had sent away. After that, he wanted to live a happily married life with his wife. He wanted Evelyn only to love him but here she was scared of him.
Why can’t he control himself?!
Arthur thought to himself.
A moment later, he took deep breaths and put a smile on his lips. But his sudden smile was more frightening for the girl in front of her.
"Evelyn...I am so sorry. You don’t need to fear me. I would never hurt you."
Arthur whispered in a very gentle voice as he cupped Evelyn’s face. He caressed her cheeks as if he was touching a feather and continued
"Have I ever hurt you before?"
Evelyn shook her head when she saw that his tone was one which demanded the answer to his question.
"Then I will never hurt you in the future as well. I love you more than myself...how can I bear to hurt you."
Arthur said gently.
But what he didn’t know was that no amount of gentleness could undo what he had already done. To Evelyn, he would always stay the monster of her nightmares.
