Chapter 239: Seeing Rex

"His Highness is here!"

Evelyn asked as she stood up from the chair she was seated on.

Wildon nodded his head immediately and continued speaking

"Yes, My Lady! His Highness came just yesterday morning and had announced that My Lady was to come at any moment and we were to ensure her safety."

Evelyn felt relieved when she heard about Rex and said immediately

"I want to go and meet His Highness."

Rex would know how her prince was doing. And Ezra....Evelyn remembered that Ezra’s execution was to happen yesterday ...could it be that it was already done?

Her heart sank slightly but she composed herself forcefully.

"I will immediately make arrangement for a carriage. My Lady must be very tired."

Evelyn wanted to refuse.

She didn’t need any such treatment. But when she saw Derrick, she kept her mouth shut.

Hence, Wildon left to ask his fellow guards to arrange a carriage.

It was only when he left did Evelyn realize that Wildon behavior was different. He was too respectful unlike before where he used to be very friendly.

Could it be that everyone knew that she had married the prince?

"My Lady, the carriage is here."

Wildon came back and informed Evelyn. Evelyn collected her thoughts and followed Derrick out of the room.

They stepped inside the carriage after Wildon told them that he would follow the carriage with one of his friend upto the castle just to ensure that Evelyn and Derrick reach safely.

During the whole way, Evelyn kept thinking about many things. About Regan, Ezra and many other things...

Rex was here and he also knew that she was going to come here. Then he must know what Raphael was doing in Royal City.

Lost in her own thoughts, Evelyn didn’t notice Derrick’s frown.

Almost an hour later, they reached the castle.

As soon as Evelyn stepped inside the castle with Derrick, the maids ran to inform Martha and hence she was soon received by Martha.

Seeing, Hannah, Ami and Miri standing a few steps away, her eyes couldn’t help but fill with tears.

"Evelyn!"

It was Hannah who first stepped forward and hugged Evelyn tightly. Following her, Ami and Mir also stepped forward and surrounded their arms around both the girls’ body.

Evelyn couldn’t stop her tears any longer. She wondered what her friends will think about her when they would come to know that she left Ezra behind to die.

She herself was not able to look at herself with the same self-esteem.

Derrick was completely forgotten in all this.

It was Martha who cleared her throat and said strictly

"Girls, don’t forget that she is His Highness’ consort now."

Hannah pouted when she heard this though she looked happy as well while Miri and Ami removed their arms and smiled at Evelyn.

It was then Martha looked at Evelyn and then at Derrick.

Evelyn realized that she still had not introduced Derrick so she said hurriedly.

"This is His Majesty. The situation in Royal Palace was not good so we have to run away from here."

Martha’s eyes widened slightly before she hurriedly composed herself and bowed her head in front of Derrick.

"Apologies, Your Majesty. I shall immediately ask a maid to show Your Majesty his chambers."

Martha felt fortunate that she already had a ready big and clean chambers so she signed Ami to show that chamber to Derrick.

Before Derrick left, he looked at Martha and said

"Send Prince Rex to my chambers."

Martha immediately complied.

Then she looked at Evelyn and sighed in helplessness seeing how Hannah and Miri had still not left.

"Hannah, Miri...Her Highness must be tired. Show Her Highness her chambers where she can rest."

Evelyn shook her head because she wanted to tell Martha that she could stay in the same room she had been leaving before but before she could say anything she was dragged away by Hannah and Miri.

"I was so shocked and excited when I got to know that you married His Highness, Evelyn!"

Hannah gushed with a goofy smile on her lips.

In any other situation, Evelyn would have smiled but she couldn’t smile at this moment even forcefully.

Hannah and Miri didn’t sense her low mood as they were too excited to share everything with Evelyn.

When they reached the chambers, Evelyn halted and looked at her friends.

"This is His Highness’ chambers."

Hannah rolled her eyes when she heard that and Miri snickered before she said

"So what? You are his wife. So of course you will stay here."

Evelyn sighed and looked slightly uncomfortable. The chambers were too big. She felt very uncomfortable with living on her own here.

Even the room in the palace in Royal City was not that big.

Seeing her discomfort, Hannah frowned and gasped before she asked

"Don’t tell that you two didn’t do the deed yet?"

Evelyn was no longer innocent after spending a few days with Hannah, Miri and Ami in this castle so she knew very well what Hannah’s was implying.

Her ears went red and she said immediately

"I want to rest now. You should also go and do you work."

Saying this she ran inside the chambers.

Once inside the chambers, Evelyn laid down on the bed.

She could immediately smell Regan’s scent on it and her eyes went teary. Only then she remembered that she should have gone to Rex to ask about the situation in Royal City as well as on the border.

Thinking this, she got up from the bed and decided to go to Rex’s chambers. However, she had taken only a step when she saw Rex walking inside the chambers.

"His Highness!"

Evelyn immediately called out.

"Evelyn...you are finally here."

Rex smiled when he saw Evelyn.

His smile provided Evelyn some comfort and she immediately approached him as she asked

"Your Highness, how is everything in Royal City? On the border? How is His Highness doing?"

Rex’s smile wavered for a bit before he composed himself and said

"Everything is fine but you need to accompany me. I need to take you somewhere else where you would be safer."

Evelyn frowned when she heard Rex.

"Somewhere else....where else can I be safer except Mazic?"

However, Rex shook his head and didn’t explain much except to saying

"You don’t know Evelyn but Arthur ran away from the border. He will certainly come here to look for you."

Evelyn’s face went pale when she heard this.

Rex’s eyes were grim when he saw this but he continued calmly

"Now we should leave."

Evelyn merely nodded her head and Rex took her to the balcony of his chambers where she saw Lavo.

She climbed on Lavo with Rex’s help. It was only when Lavo started flying did Evelyn realize that Lavo didn’t mewl like every other time on seeing her.

She also remembered that Rex was supposed to go to Derrick’s chambers as ordered by the latter.

Then did he ignore Derrick’s order and come to see her first?
