Chapter 226: Rex Leaves for Royal City

Rex’s heart broke at such a sight.

Regan’s eyes were teary. He knew that Regan was scared that something would happen to Evelyn.

He hugged his brother tightly in his arms.

On the other hand, Elias was shocked to see his master like this. Though he knew that his master cared for Evelyn and considered her as his true wife, he didn’t know that his master liked Evelyn this much.

"Regan, I know that you are worried for Evelyn but we need to think calmly before acting up."

Rex said while hugging Regan.

After he felt that Regan was calm enough, he stepped back. Putting his hand on his shoulder, he continued

"The soldiers needs you here."

Regan’s eyes flashed with conflict and helplessness as he realized that Rex was true. But Rex continued

"If I was not here, there everything can still go on because you are here. But if you were not here then I am certain that we won’t be able to defeat William."

Elias nodded his head immediately.

Rex was right.

Seeing Regan’s face who looked as if he was suffering from a deep pain, Rex’s heart ached. He held Regan’s shoulders firmly and continued gently

"Leave Evelyn to me. I will go there and ensure that she is safe and sound, alright?"

Regan looked at Rex and thought for a moment before he finally nodded his head.

His heart screamed at him to go to Evelyn right now but Regan’s mind also told him that the border was also his responsibility. He couldn’t show his back to his soldiers who needed him.

Hence, he could only accept what Rex said.

After he nodded his head, Regan took Rex to Lavo who was sleeping.

Lavo didn’t need to be woken up by Regan as he opened his eyes as soon as Regan stepped closer to him. He mewled lightly on seeing Regan as if he was trying to seek some comfort.

It made Regan wonder if Lavo was again feeling Evelyn’s emotions.

Was Evelyn also in a situation where she wanted someone to comfort her?

Regan shook his head to dismiss this thought and looked at Rex.

"Even if Arthur went on his horse and left two days ago, it will take him around five days to reach Royal city... Four if he didn’t take rest at all. You will go on Lavo to reach Royal City. So you should be able to reach there around the same time."

Rex nodded his head in agreement.

After Regan finished speaking, he stroked Lavo’s scales and said gently

"Lavo, Evelyn is in danger. Can you sense that?"

Lavo mewled in response and rubbed his snout against Regan’s hand. Regan patted his head as he continued

"Can you leave Rex to Royal City? We need to ensure Evelyn’s safety."

Regan was aware that Lavo didn’t like anyone to ride him unless it him or Evelyn. That’s why he was trying to calm Lavo before Rex would ride him.

After he finished speaking, Lavo mewled again as he understood what Regan was saying.

Rex looked at Regan who nodded his head before he walked to Lavo and climbed on his back. A moment passed and he sighed in relief seeing that Lavo didn’t throw him away.

Otherwise, he was wondering if he would have to go to Royal City by hanging himself on Lavo’s paws. If it was a short journey, Rex could still do it. But the journey is going to be around two days long at least if Lavo didn’t take a rest.

So Rex feared the idea of hanging from Lavo’s paws for the whole two days.

Regan also stepped back and said

"Go now."

Lavo growled loudly before he flapped his wings and finally flew away.

Regan stared at the sky until he could not see Lavo any longer. A moment later, he closed his eyes. Evelyn’s face immediately flashed in his mind.

"Please be safe, Evelyn."

Two days had passed since Evelyn had found a dagger but she knew that she couldn’t use it on Raphael just like that. There were his people all over the Palace or that was what he said.

Even if she attacked Raphael and managed to hurt him in the process, she would not be able to run away. She would be caught by his people.

So she could only hide the dagger and wait for an opportunity where she could use the dagger to get out of the Royal Palace.

When the next day, the physician told her that he had to change Derrick’s clothes, Evelyn felt relieved that she had taken out the dagger yesterday only.

So she nodded her head lightly before she walked away from there and stood with her back towards the bed.

Her eyes went to the vase where she had hidden the dagger.

No maid or servant came to clean the chambers and she felt fortunate for that.

After the physician had changed Derrick’s clothes, he fed the same paste to Derrick. Evelyn was also told by him that he was done.

So Evelyn turned around and watched him feeding Derrick the medicinal paste.

"What is His Majesty’s suffering from?"

Evelyn asked the physician again today. She had realized that Raphael had not put any spies on her so he would not know if she talked to the physician. He had threatened her thinking she would be scared and stay within her limits but he was very wrong.

The only problem was that the physician refused to say anything.

Today also, Evelyn was not expecting much when the physician stayed silent and got up after feeding Derrick.

However, when he passed by her, Evelyn heard his words

"His Majesty is being poisoned."

His voice was so low that Evelyn knew that if she was not careful then she would have missed his words.

Her eyes were wide but only slightly because she had such a guess inside her heart after seeing how Derrick was not injured but still looked so sick.
