Chapter 225: Disappearance

(On the same night)

Inside Regan’s tank, all the commanders, Rex and he himself were standing around a table.

On the table, a paper was spread and on it was drawn a labyrinth.

"This is something new they are using this time."

Rex said looking at the paper with a somber expression on his face. They have been able to draw this labyrinth after gauging the position of the enemy soldiers for a whole week.

The commanders nodded their heads at Rex’s words. One of them then looked at Regan and said

"Your Highness, do you know how to get inside the labyrinth?"

It was always Rex or Regan who was able to break the labyrinth laid by the enemy soldiers. They also invented new labyrinths which no one could break but the strongest ones were created and destroyed by Regan only.

If they broke the labyrinth and found William who would be in the inner portion of this labyrinth, they could capture him and end the war there only.

Even Rex looked at Regan to see what he would answer.

Seeing the calmness on Regan’s face, he knew that Regan already knew how to break the labyrinth. He sighed in relief.

However, instead of answering the commander, Regan turned to look at Rex and said

"Why don’t we take Sir Arthur’s help? He has been a great friend of Prince William although it was all in the past. He might be able to help us."

The commanders found Regan reasonable and nodded their heads.

Hence, Regan sent Elias to Arthur’s tent. A few moments passed before Elias finally returned.

However, he had a shocked expression on his face. Behind him, he was holding a man’s collar. Regan saw Elias and then the man with a frown on his forehead and asked

"Where is he, Elias?"

Elias shook his head as he said

"Your Highness, he was not there. In his place, I found this man."

The tent was silent for a few moments before Regan stepped closer to Elias and said coldly

"What do you mean by that he is not here? Was it not your responsibility to ensure that he doesn’t..."

Regan stopped amidst his words when he realized that he was still standing amidst the commander. But the anger in his eyes said everything.

Rex also had a grim expression on his face. He first dismissed all the commanders. After they had left the tent, he walked to Elias and said

"Elias, when did you see him last?"

Elias also looked ashamed but shocked as well.

"I went inside his tent every day with some excuse to ensure that he was there. Sometimes, he was sleeping on the bed, sometimes he had his back to me but he replied to me whenever I asked something so I thought..."

Rex frowned while Regan had a murderous aura surrounding him.

Rex looked at the man standing by Elias’ side and asked him

"Who are you?"

However, the man’s eyes were blank and he said

"I am Arthur, a friend of Prince William of Zamorin."

The shocking thing was that the man’s voice was the same as that of Arthur.

Rex frowned as he looked into the man’s eyes and asked again

"What were you doing inside the tent?"

However, this time the man didn’t reply to him.

Rex looked at Elias and said

"What did you ask him when you went inside his tent?"

Elias looked at the man with a pale face and asked

"Does Sir Arthur need anything?"

"No, I am fine."

The man replied immediately.

Even though Regan’s back was towards the man, he could hear everything. He inhaled sharply realizing what was going on.

The man could answer some selective questions that too in Arthur’s voice. He seemed to be well taught to do so.

Regan turned around suddenly and looked into the man’s eyes. He could only look at the man for a moment whose eyes were completely blank before the man frowned while looking at Regan and then suddenly went unconscious.

The three men inside the tent were confused but put this matter aside. After a soldier dragged the unconscious man outside the tent, Elias couldn’t keep quiet.

"Did he put the spell on him to change his voice as well?"

Elias whispered still in somewhat shock.

"Just how many spells does he know?"

Rex frowned and said grimly.

"We need to find him."

Regan said coldly and Rex nodded his head immediately.

"But where could he have gone ...and how did he even leave?"

Regan’s eyes flickered suddenly as he remembered something and looked at Elias.

Elias lowered his head immediately. He couldn’t even express how ashamed he was. After the last incident, he should have been extra careful but again he did not complete his task.

"Did you not say that a horse was missing?"

Regan asked Elias coldly and Elias nodded his head immediately.

"Yes, Your Highness."

Regan cursed loudly.

He should have thought about it.

"I think that he left on the same horse."

"Since when is the horse missing?"

Rex asked thinking that it must not be too long but Elias’s reply was different from his thoughts.

"More than two days, Your Highness." Replied Elias.

Regan looked at Elias and said coldly

"He had been fooling you for such a long time."

Elias felt very ashamed and Rex couldn’t help but feel pity for him.

"It is not his fault alone, Regan. We gave him the responsibility of tents and supplies as well while keeping an eye on Arthur. He can’t really do everything at the same time."

However, Regan didn’t say anything.

Somewhere he knew that Elias was not at fault.

It was Arthur. Arthur knew magic and spells...something that they have never dealt with before. Arthur could do things out of their expectations.

As the truth started to sink in, Regan suddenly raised his head and said

"He must have gone to Evelyn. I need to protect Evelyn."

As soon as Regan finished, he walked to the table and picked up his sword. Rex was baffled as he saw him leaving the tent.

It was only then that he came out of his trance and called out

"Regan! What are you doing?"

Rex ran out of the tent followed Elias and held Regan’s arm to stop him. However, Regan looked at him coldly and said

"She needs me, Rex. She doesn’t even know what kind of powers Arthur possesses. Lavo was also behaving weirdly a few days back. God knows what Arthur might do to her..."

At the end of his words, Regan’s voice broke slightly.
