Chapter 219: The Humiliation

The carriage was stopped at Royal Palace’s gates. It was Isla who came out and went to the Royal guards.

"Why is Princess Consort’s carriage being stopped here?"

Isla asked Royal guards.

The carriage should at least be allowed inside Royal Palace. However, Royal Guards looked at her coldly and said in a rude voice.

"We need to check her once. She would be meeting His Majesty. What if she carries some hidden weapon? His Majesty’s safety can’t be jeopardized."

Isla’s eyes sharpened when she heard the words and the next moment she couldn’t help but say angrily.

"Do you even know how to respect the member of the Royal family? She is a princess consort. Daring to even think of touching her, are you not afraid to lose your life?"

Royal Guards however pretended as if they didn’t hear her and said to one of the inferior guards

"Ask Her Highness to step out."

Isla’s eyes were filled with rage as she saw the guard stepping towards the carriage.

"Don’t you dare even step near My Lady."

Isla threatened the guard coldly who looked afraid at her threat. However, Evelyn who had heard the commotion from outside stepped out from the carriage.

She didn’t know everything so she looked at Isla in confusion and the Royal guards as she asked

"Isla, is everything alright?"

Isla nodded her head and said

"My Lady, everything is alright. My Lady should go back inside the carriage. We will go back. Since they don’t know how to respect My Lady, My Lady doesn’t need to step inside."

Royal Guards glared at Isla when they heard her and immediately looked at the two guards who had been following Evelyn’s carriage.

The two guards immediately blocked the way for Evelyn to step inside the carriage again.

Evelyn looked at them with a frown.

She suddenly didn’t have a good feeling about going inside the Royal Palace but there didn’t seem to be any way out for her when the Royal Guard said

"Her Highness has been called by His Majesty. If she doesn’t follow the Royal order, then we have the right to drag her inside as well regardless of whether she is willing or unwilling."

Isla was feeling so angry that she felt like vomiting blood. Her hand moved to the sword on her waist eager to chop the head of the Royal guard who was daring to disrespect her mistress. However, Evelyn immediately held her arm and signed her to calm down.

She was actually shocked by Isla’s anger. Before her, Isla had always been a very gentle and respectful woman. This was the first time she was seeing Isla like this but Evelyn knew that Isla was actually worried about her.

Evelyn knew that they couldn’t create any commotion here.

She had only Isla with her so she can’t let Isla do anything which will give the guards a reason to drag her away. Perhaps even Isla realized that and took deep breaths to calm herself down.

"We will go inside."

She announced to no one in particular but her eyes were on Royal Guards.

The Royal Guard nodded his head and said to his fellow guard

"Go and check her."

The asked guard stepped near Evelyn and looked at her from head to toe. Evelyn didn’t feel comfortable under his gaze at all. It was as if she was standing naked even though she wore a dress that covered her from head to toe.

Isla’s hand clutched the sheath of her sword tightly.

She couldn’t believe that Royal Guards were daring enough to behave in such a way with a princess consort. Even if her lady was not liked by the King of Alfaros, she was still a prince’s wife and hence should be respected.

Isla shook her head knowing that she doesn’t have time for all this. Before the guards could touch Evelyn, Isla held his hand and stared at him coldly.

"If you touch her even in the slightest with that filthy hand of yours, then I can assure you that your hand will be chopped as soon as our prince comes to know of it."

The guard’s eyes suddenly flickered with fear at Isla’s words.

Isla didn’t look at him as she pushed him away and looked at the Royal guard while saying

"Call a maid. If anyone of you touches My Lady then our prince might have to make a special visit to Royal City again just to teach you an unforgettable lesson."

The Royal Guard looked deep in thought and nodded his head a moment later.

A maid was called and Evelyn was taken inside a room which was outside Royal Palace only to check people for weapons.

Evelyn wouldn’t say but she felt humiliated on being checked like this. However, the only comfort was that she could demand for enough respect to be checked by a woman unlike in the past when anyone could touch her on their will.

Only Evelyn knew how she had saved herself from all these disgusting lustful eyes all these years.

The maid stepped out of the room with Evelyn a few moments later and said

"There is no weapon."

"She can go inside then."

The Royal Guard said but when he saw Isla trying to step inside with Evelyn, he immediately blocked her and said

"You are carrying a sword. You can’t step inside."

Isla took a deep breath again. She can’t let her lady go inside alone after what she witnessed. Hence, Isla removed her sword.

But the Royal Guard was not satisfied.

He wanted a person to check her body before she could be allowed inside. Isla glared at him before she went inside the room with the maid.

Isla had actually hidden some weapons inside her clothes. Every knight did this so that they could have a weapon in an emergency.

But the maid found it out.

After the maid had taken out the two daggers that were hidden inside her clothes by Isla, Isla was finally allowed to go inside Evelyn.
