Chapter 209: Derrick Order (2)

What the letter said was something that Regan and Rex had not expected but they couldn’t accept it so easily.

After knowing Arthur’s capability of controlling others’ minds, they felt the need to once go to Royal Palace and see on their own to find out about the situation.

Hence, Rex decided to go to Royal Palace.

Still, Derrick was quite faster than their expectation again. The Royal Army was sent to their Palace by the time Rex was ready to leave on his horse for the Royal Palace.

Rex left while Regan stayed back to manage everything.

As he passed the city, Rex could see how the situation was changing so fast. It had already been announced in the whole city that the war was about to begin again.

People were starting to donate to the soldiers on the border whatever they could.

It made Rex sigh in frustration as he wondered how his father could trust Arthur so easily.

When he reached the Royal Palace, the situation was no different because everyone seems to be making arrangements for the upcoming war.

Rex was shocked when he saw how Arthur was commanding the servants and maids. His heart sank when he saw Raphael beside Arthur.

When did they become so close?

He wondered as he passed the scene.

Still, the important thing at that moment was to meet Derrick.

So Rex walked towards the Royal Chambers. The guards let him inside without Derrick’s permission. It seemed that Derrick was ready for his or Regan’s arrival.

Because he didn’t seem surprised to see him.

Rex couldn’t help but remember the bitter accusations Derrick had put on him. Swallowing down the anger he felt, he asked him coldly

"We received the letter sent by Royal Palace. I wish to ask for the evidence he presented to make such a serious statement."

Derrick calmly walked to the table and gave him a letter.

Then he walked to sit on his majestic chair and said as Rex read the letter.

"This letter has been written by William to one of the people Sir Arthur knows. William thinks that this person is still on his side but he is actually helping Sir Arthur."

Rex realized that Derrick had given him two letters and soon he heard him continuing

"The other letter you have ...it is the letter sent by Zamorin’s Royal Palace before the previous war started. It was written by William. The handwriting matches in both the letters."

Rex understood what Derrick was implying.

It meant that the letter that Arthur gave him was indeed written by William but did they not see the possibility of Arthur and William colluding together?

Rex sighed and read the letter.

The letter indeed had William saying to someone that they were to attack Alfaros after five days. But...

"Your Majesty, we are still not sure whether Sir Arthur is really trying to help us. What if he is still on Prince William’s side and ..."

Rex couldn’t complete his words as Derrick interrupted him.

"He had already given us the proof of his loyalty, Rex...by giving us this letter."

Rex felt indescribable frustration filling up his heart and in that frustration, he came out to be a little rude when he said

"How can you trust him so easily? He is from an enemy Empire...you are even letting him command servants of the Palace. This is such a stupid action from our side."

"Rex!"

Derrick reprimanded Rex in a sharp cold voice.

"It is not Sir Arthur who is commanding the servants of Palace. I gave the responsibility of the Palace to Raphael. We need to stay prepared even though the war is on the battlefield only. Raphael asked my permission to have Sir Arthur’s help and I allowed him. It is not something that you should be concerned about."

Rex’s face was emotionless as he breathed heavily in anger.

From what he saw, it was clear that Arthur had clear command on servants. However, he seemed to know that Derrick wouldn’t believe him regardless of what he will say.

As if this was not enough, Derrick continued

"I want you and Regan to leave for the border...immediately. And it is Royal order."

Rex didn’t say anything after that. What could he even say?

No one could refuse Royal Order...not even a Royal Prince!

"Then I will take my leave, Your Majesty."

Rex said emotionlessly.

However, as soon as he turned around, he heard Derrick calling him again so he stopped.

"Rex...that day I said all those things in anger."

Rex knew very well what he was talking about but he didn’t turn around while Derrick continued.

"I know you care for Regan. It is because of you only I was assured to leave him on the battlefield. I knew that both of you have each other’s back always. I was just angry that...Regan was destroying his future with his own hands and you didn’t guide him well."

This time, Rex couldn’t help but turn around to look at Derrick and say

"Because what he is doing is correct."

Derrick frowned but didn’t say anything and Rex continued

"It is the first time Regan is doing something for himself. He had dared to choose his happiness and I won’t ever stop him from doing that."

"But she would only ruin Regan’s happiness."

Derrick said firmly making Rex sigh in defeat.

There was no point in arguing with someone who was not even ready to ponder on others’ thoughts.

"I just wish that Your Majesty won’t regret his decisions."

After saying these words, Rex finally left Royal Chambers.

On his way to the exit, he again saw Arthur commanding the servants, and this time alone. Rex didn’t find it right.

But he couldn’t do anything.

He could only leave the Royal Palace silently.

When he reached his own Palace, he witnessed Regan and Evelyn arguing with each other...a sight he saw for the first time.

Because Evelyn who had never raised her voice before was not holding back this time.
