Chapter 208: Derrick’s Order (1)
The next few days were still peaceful for Regan and Evelyn. The soldiers from Mazic arrived and Regan was able to increase the security of the Palace.
He was still unable to find anything about Arthur which could help him stay assured that he had his weakness.
Two men had been sent by Regan to find Gianna and Cooper but they were yet to return.
Regan still had not found out how Arthur knew about Evelyn’s stay in his Palace. All in all, he was not sure about defeating Arthur if the latter was planning anything.
Regan felt frustrated whenever he thought this.
Only one thing was told by Dan till now.
"I remember what my master had found out during the time that man was in our hold...his spell worked when he looked into his eyes."
Dan arrived at this conclusion with the narration of Evelyn and the man who was controlled by Arthur as well. He listened to them. Evelyn didn’t remember anything about the banquet when she disappeared but she did remember how she had felt strange when they were in Royal Court that day.
She remembered that Arthur had looked into her eyes and just after a few moments, she had started to feel her head aching. That day as well, she had gone unconscious.
Hence, Dan confirmed what he remembered.
Don’t look into Arthur’s eyes when you are talking to him.
Regan, Rex, Elias, and Evelyn kept it in their mind.
Evelyn was certainly shocked when Regan told her about the spell thing. He could understand her. Even he had never expected such a thing.
"Is it possible that ...he knows more of these things?"
Evelyn had asked Regan but he didn’t have any answer to this question of hers.
"But we can’t rule out the possibility."
Regan had told her grimly.
He didn’t like the fear that clouded her eyes at his words. But he couldn’t lie to her. Arthur’s target was her. So he needed her to know how careful she needs to stay.
Still, Regan had this strong urge to take Lavo to Royal Palace at that time and feed Arthur to him. That would have solved this problem for the better.
However, a rational part of his mind told him every time that he can’t do this.
For his so-called father and those ministers...Arthur was the key to reaching William. William, who was the last thorn in winning Zamorin completely.
They were literally giving him all the treatment that is given to a Royal Prince. If Regan killed Arthur this way, then it could create new problems.
Of course, he didn’t fear those problems. Even if he would have to go prison for this, he didn’t mind.
What he feared was whatever Evelyn would have to face in his absence. After all, almost everyone would know that he would do it for Evelyn after whatever happened in Royal Court.
Before this, Regan had never thought like a coward...about running away. As long as it could keep Evelyn safe and happy, he was ready to do anything.
But this time, even this thought came to his mind.
He would think that he could go with Evelyn to some place where no one would know them after killing Arthur. After all, there were still four other Empires except Zamorin and Alfaros.
But then he didn’t marry Evelyn to give her a life where they would have to hide their identity and live like criminals.
After all, the four Empires would not start an enmity with Alfaros. If they got to know that he was staying at their land, Regan was sure that they would not stay silent about this.
Hence, there was no other way for Regan ...except to fight Arthur when he would expose his true plans.
At that time, all these ministers and even Derrick himself would regret what they were doing. Because Regan was sure that Arthur was still on William’s side.
He had heard enough of William and Arthur’s friendship from his men to know about Arthur’s loyalty to William.
Arthur almost died while saving William’s life. What else could prove his loyalty to William? Could such a man be against William?
Regan was sure that the answer was ’no’.
Unfortunately, the ministers in the court were not that intelligent to understand, and neither was his father.
Regan sighed as he did what he was supposed to do.
Making his own people strong so that in time of need...they won’t fall weak.
He trained Evelyn every day.
And at this moment, he was doing the same. Holding her hand he corrected her hold on the sword and then signed her to do the new movement she leaned again.
When she stopped after finishing and looked at him with eyes that clearly asked if she did good, Regan smiled.
Evelyn was the only person who kept him sane in this insane world. If it was Regan from past, he would have long ordered Lavo to eat Arthur.
But now he thought before acting because he didn’t want to scare Evelyn, he didn’t want to make her life difficult. His every action was well thought.
"You did good."
He said and his heart melted at the sight of happiness flashing across her eyes.
Regan composed himself and was about to teach Evelyn a new move when a servant came there and said
"Your Highness, there is a message from Royal Palace."
Regan was immediately alert. Arthur had been silent for days already. Already a month was about to pass since banquet. Has he finally decided to act?
Looking at Evelyn’s worried expression, he still smiled slightly and said
"I will be back. Elias...come here."
Regan asked Elias to train Evelyn in his absence. Rex was training other soldiers on the side.
Seeing that she was busy learning, Regan finally left with the servant.
"Greetings, Your Highness"
The messenger from Royal Palace greeted Regan when Regan reached the living room. Regan frowned when he recognized the man as the guard of his father’s chambers.
"Your Highness, this letter is from His Majesty."
The guard passed a letter to Regan and Regan took it from his hands. As he read the letter, Regan’s expression went somber.
After he had finished reading, he looked at the guard and asked
"Did His Majesty gave this to you on his own?"
The messenger was confused but nodded his head.
Regan nodded and dismissed him. After this, he went to the garden where Rex was training soldiers.
He approached Rex who asked the soldiers to continue training on their own seeing Regan.
Seeing a scroll in Regan’s hands, Rex looked at him questioningly, certain that something was related to it only.
"It came from Palace."
Rex frowned and took the scroll from Regan’s hands. But he didn’t need to read it as Regan told him.
"Arthur told them that William will attack within five days. His Majesty has ordered us to leave for border with the Army in Royal Palace as soon as possible."
