Chapter 192: Peri’s Friends

The words made Evelyn come out of her thoughts and she shook her head as she said firmly

"I have also been a slave before. So there is no need to think like this."

Peri’s heart felt slightly light when she saw that Evelyn didn’t look arrogant at least.

Still, somewhere her heart couldn’t help but mock her.

She had thought of having Evelyn as her slave when she would become a Royal Prince’s concubine. Today it was she who was standing in the position to become Evelyn’s slave.

Peri shook her head as she suddenly remembered why she had come here. Her eyes went to the group of women standing a few steps away. All of them were looking towards her or she should say glaring at her.

She gloated suddenly forgetting all her disappointment.

Weren’t they mocking her when she had said that she knew Evelyn?

Now she will show them.

Looking at Evelyn with a wide smile, she said

"You are still the same, Evelyn. I am so happy to see this. Do you want to come with me and meet my friends?"

Evelyn suddenly had a conflicted expression on her face when she heard Peri’s words. She actually didn’t wish to leave Prince’s side because she didn’t feel safe.

Arthur was present in the same banquet hall.

However, Peri was afraid when she saw that Evelyn didn’t seem to agree.

She thought for a moment and stated

"I am sure that His Highness would also need to meet many people. And with a woman by his side, how would he be able to do so?"

Evelyn’s eyes went towards Regan only to find him looking at her.

He, with Prince Rex, was waiting for her silently. But she could see how Rex was already surrounded by so many people who were having a conversation with her but Regan didn’t even glance at them because his whole attention was on her.

She couldn’t help but wonder if Peri was right.

After all, the prince would need to meet others and maybe she was obstructing him.

Evelyn looked around the hall. There were so many people. What could even happen?

So she said to Peri.

"I will go and tell His Highness first."

Peri nodded though slightly stiffly. After all, she noticed how the prince was still looking at Evelyn.

It made her wonder what exactly did Evelyn do to make him fall in love with her to this extent. Or was it just a beauty trap?

Peri would not refuse that Evelyn was more beautiful than her. In fact, Evelyn was perhaps more beautiful than all the concubines Raphael had in his Palace.

So was it her beauty that attracted the prince to her?

On the other hand, Evelyn was now standing in front of Regan.

"Your Highness, can I go with Peri for some time?"

Regan frowned immediately when he heard this and asked

"Where?"

"I will just go and meet her friends."

Evelyn was actually confused by the way Regan was frowning. Was he unhappy? But why?

Regan was indeed unhappy. He didn’t want her to leave with Peri but when he remembered Rex’s words, he controlled himself and said strictly

"Stay around. Don’t leave the banquet hall in any situation and return soon. The dance would be starting soon."

Evelyn nodded her head immediately and left.

Peri took her to the group of women standing only a few steps away. Evelyn frowned when she noticed that the women were actually glaring at Peri. From the way they were looking at her, it didn’t look as if they were Peri’s friends.

However, she didn’t get the chance to ask Peri anything as they had already reached the group of women.

But Peri’s next words made Evelyn very uncomfortable as she suddenly realized why Peri had brought her here.

"See! I was saying the truth that I know Evelyn."

Peri even held Evelyn’s hand and looked at the concubines with a smug expression on her face. There were many concubines in Raphael’s Palace. Unfortunately for her, she had never been able to gain any place between them.

Since she was a slave, they always looked down on her and insulted her whenever they get any chance. Today, when she told them she knew Evelyn, they mocked her saying that Evelyn wouldn’t even recognize her as she was now a princess consort.

Even Peri had thought so but since she didn’t want to bear their insult, she claimed that Evelyn would never do so.

And she was happy that she was right.

The way concubines looked at her with envy and resentment brought her great joy. It was the first time she had done something to shut their mouths.

However, all this while she was not aware of Evelyn’s discomfort who realized that she was being used as a tool for Peri to look down on other concubines.

Evelyn was suddenly stuck in a position where she didn’t know what she should say or do. So she stayed silent.

However, even it didn’t seem to be a solution when a concubine suddenly asked her with a meaningful smile on her lips.

"So you are Peri’s friend? We are also very good friends of Peri, isn’t it Peri?"

Peri of course wanted to refuse but when the concubines glared at her, she had to nod her head because she suddenly realized that her gloating might not be lifelong. After Evelyn left, she would have to face their wrath again.

And there would be no one to save her.

Peri was suddenly very afraid.

On the other hand, the concubine looked at Evelyn with the same meaningful smile and asked her

"Then you should not hesitate to tell us something we wish to know, right?"

Evelyn frowned a little but nodded her head but her eyes went cold suddenly when she heard the concubine ask her.

"Then tell us how did you seduce His Highness? And ...the scar on his face, did you not find it horrible when you slept with him?"
