Chapter 190: The Familiar People

Rex gave up when he saw that Regan was not getting affected by his words at all. He shook his head and looked at Evelyn as he said

"Evelyn, I think you should speak to him. He only listens to you."

Evelyn’s eyes widened when she heard these words. She was suddenly nervous as she said

"What is Your Highness saying? Why would His Highness listen to me?"

And how could she order the prince like Rex could do as his elder brother?

However, Evelyn was shocked when Regan squeezed her waist gently and whispered

"You should try once I guess."

What?! Did she hear wrong?

Evelyn wondered silently but dared not to look at Regan or perhaps she didn’t get the chance. As a very familiar but unwelcomed voice suddenly interrupted the three of them amidst their conversation.

"Greetings, First Brother...and Fourth Brother."

It was none other than Raphael.

Evelyn stiffened completely when she heard his voice. She recognized his voice very well. It still traumatized her sometimes in her dreams.

Regan could feel her body going stiff in his arms. His eyes were deathly cold as he stared at Raphael as if warning him to do or say anything which would be disliked by Evelyn.

But Raphael continued to smirk. His eyes stayed on Evelyn as he said with the same smirk on his lips.

"Greetings, Princess Consort."

The way he called her made something crawl on Evelyn’s skin. It made her feel disgusted. She didn’t even raise her head to look at him.

If it was not for Regan standing by her side, she would have run long ago.

Rex and Regan could see very well that Evelyn was not comfortable. Rex looked at Raphael and said suddenly

"I have never expected that one day you would come and greet me, Raphael. The sun must be rising from the west today or maybe you are too ideal."

Rex actually wished that Raphael would leave after feeling insulted. There were in the banquet hall and there were many people.

He couldn’t do anything more than insult Raphael silently to make him leave otherwise it would be Royal Family who would be mocked.

However, Raphael who could see his attempts, merely smiled as if he never understood what Rex was trying to imply.

"What can I do, First Brother? Beauty can attract anyone I guess."

Raphael’s eyes were filled with lust when he said these words and his eyes were fixated on Evelyn.

Not only Regan but even Rex felt angry with his behavior.

Knowing what he had tried to do in the past with Evelyn didn’t help in any way as well.

"I will advise you to stay within your limits, Raphael. This time it will not only be broken bones that you will get."

It was Regan who spoke this time. His voice was cold and it could be seen that his threat was also very real.

Raphael’s smile disappeared for a moment and he stared at Regan angrily. But a few moments later, he smiled coldly and said

"Why is Regan so angry, First Brother?"

Raphael asked Rex suddenly with a very innocent expression on his face.

"I was just praising Princess Consort’s beauty. And I am sure no one can deny how beautiful princess consort is. After all, she had so many men who can fight to the death to get her."

Rex exhaled sharply. Raphael was crossing all the limits today and he knew very well that he was doing all this just to provoke Regan. He was afraid that Regan would not be able to understand Raphael’s trap and do something that he should not.

Indeed, Regan was so angry that his knuckles were white with how tight he was fisting his hand which was free.

He looked ready to kill Raphael then and there.

However, Evelyn who was silent all the time suddenly raised her head and looked at Raphael coldly.

"I am sure that Your Highness has many beauties inside his Palace to admire. So it would be better if Your Highness would stop admiring me. Because it does not suit a dignified prince to eye his own brother’s princess consort."

Raphael’s smile disappeared completely and he glared at Evelyn on hearing her words.

However, Evelyn looked into his eyes with equal coldness.

Only she knew how much she despised Raphael. A man who could behave like that with a woman...he actually made her feel disgusted.

"I see...you are also learning from your husband."

Raphael said coldly and then left from there without saying anything else.

Evelyn looked at his back with a deep frown on her forehead. She actually wondered how could such a person be a Royal Prince!

But then again, there were many people like Raphael who were in high positions and took advantage of those who were below them.

Evelyn shook her head. But the next moment, she was suddenly confused when she saw Rex looking at her with wide eyes.

"Your Highness, is everything alright?"

She asked nervously.

Did she speak too much?

Rex blinked and then suddenly smiled. His smile was also filled with surprise as he said

"I can’t believe that it was you just now. You were so different, Evelyn."

Evelyn sighed in relief when she saw that Rex was not angry. Then she looked at Regan only to find his eyes filled with pride.

Evelyn blushed and looked away but Regan didn’t.

He had always known that Evelyn was very strong. She was very much capable of protecting herself. It was just the years of slavery that had brought her to the point of submission in front of everyone.

She needed time and he was sure that the fire she carried could burn anyone who tried to cross her path and look down on her.

Evelyn was unaware of Regan’s thoughts. She was just embarrassed hearing Rex’s praises.

But the three of them were again interrupted when Evelyn heard a familiar voice and this time it was for her.

"Evelyn!"
