The sun had already risen and Regan and Rex were inside the living room.

Elias was arranging the carriage and making sure that everything was safe for the journey to the Royal Palace.

"Where is Evelyn?"

Rex asked Regan who sighed and said

"She was taken away by Lady Irwin and Lady Bennett early in the morning. I was also informed by a maid only."

Regan had gone to the garden to practice swordsmanship. When he returned, he didn’t find Evelyn and a maid told him about this.

"I have not seen her after that."

There was a frown on his forehead when he said these words and his frustration could clearly be seen in his eyes.

Rex rolled his eyes when he heard this and couldn’t help but say

"It has only been a few hours, Regan."

However, Regan looked at Rex with deadly serious eyes as he said

"A whole three hours, Rex."

Rex shook his head with slightly wide eyes when he saw that Regan was even counting the hours.

"My brother is completely whipped. I wish that I would never be like you, Regan."

Regan ignored Rex and looked towards the stairs.

Someone finally came down from those stairs but Regan was disappointed when he saw that it was not Evelyn.

In fact, it was Laurel.

Laurel had not dared to appear before Regan when she had seen his behavior yesterday. She was scared out of her wits.

Even now, her body stiffened naturally when she saw Regan’s eyes.

She was afraid that she would fall down the stairs if he didn’t take away his cold gaze. Fortunately, nothing of that sort happened.

After that, she silently stood in a corner as if trying to make everyone feel that she didn’t even exist. No one tried to bother her.

On the other hand, Regan was starting to lose his patience.

"Do they not know that we need to attend the banquet today only? If we delayed more, then people will talk."

Rex rolled his eyes again.

As if Regan ever cared what people said about him or anyone else.

Obviously, he wanted to see Evelyn but he was saying it indirectly.

"I will go there myself and give them some peace of mind."

Regan said coldly as he started to move towards the stairs. However, just at that moment, Evelyn appeared at the top of the stairs.

Lady Irwin and Lady Bennett were standing on her each side but Regan couldn’t even look at them because his eyes were stuck on Evelyn.

Evelyn was wearing a red gown ...just according to the customs of the banquet. But she looked so beautiful that Regan was sure that he had never seen any other woman so beautiful in a red gown.

"Breathe."

Rex suddenly whispered in his ears and he came out of his trance.

Rex was smiling toward Evelyn but he felt slightly helpless towards his own brother as he said

"Seriously Regan...I think you should have also put in some effort. If it continued like this... she will take your breath away every day, you will fall in love with her every day and she ...well she won’t even look at you."

Regan turned to glare at Rex when he heard these words.

Rex ignored him and walked to Evelyn instead.

Holding Evelyn’s hand, he placed a kiss on its back gently and said

"You look beautiful, Evelyn. I am sure that you will attract many envious stares yourself. One is already there."

Rex signed towards Laurel and Evelyn immediately understood what he meant.

She saw Laurel looking at herself with hatred-filled eyes.

Evelyn looked away from Laurel. Her eyes went to Regan who was still standing at the same spot.

He had not said anything to her.

Regan finally walked to her. He cleared his throat and said in his usual cold voice.

"I think we should leave."

Evelyn who was expecting him to say anything lowered her head to hide her disappointment.

Rex nodded his head and just then Elias stepped inside to inform everyone that the carriage was ready.

Lady Irwin, Lady Bennett, and Laurel were given a separate carriage while Rex, Regan, Evelyn, and Elias sat in another carriage together.

Rex and Elias did talk but Evelyn and Regan stayed silent the whole way.

Evelyn didn’t know what she should say and Regan ...Regan seemed to be afraid of what he would say if he opened his mouth.

Hence, he decided to stay silent.

Finally, the carriage reached the Royal Palace entrance. Evelyn immediately found her nervousness increasing.

Lady Irwin had told her that she would be the sole focus of everyone in the banquet today. Though she had worked hard for the whole week, Evelyn was afraid that she would do one mistake and it would lead to people making fun of the prince because of her.

When Regan stepped out of the carriage, he forwarded his hand in front of her. Evelyn placed her hand in his and Regan frowned immediately feeling how cold they were.

He looked at her face and sighed.

When she was outside, he signed her to put his hand on his arm. As they walked inside the banquet hall, Regan whispered softly in Evelyn’s ear.

"Don’t worry. If someone tries to bully you, give it to them back....Just like you did with Laurel."

Evelyn’s eyes widened as she understood that the prince knew everything.

No wonder he had said those words to her that day.

Regan had a smile on his lips when he saw her shock-filled eyes. Only he knew how proud he was when Elias had told him how Evelyn had answered Laurel’s insults. However, his smile it disappeared when he felt her go stiff so suddenly.

Evelyn felt a gaze on herself as soon as she was standing at the entrance of the banquet hall.

And she knew very well who it belonged to.

Though she didn’t wish to, her eyes unconsciously went in a particular direction and there she found him.

He was staring at her silently but so intense that it suffocated Evelyn.

As if he was aware all the time when she was going to enter the banquet hall.
