Chapter 186: Using The Past

Chapter 186: Using The Past

Regan had a deep frown on his forehead as he looked at Elias and said coldly

"It is simply that you people don’t have the ability to follow a man."

Elias could only lower her head in shame.

Regan looked away, out of the window of the study room. Both of his hands were folded behind his back as he stared at nothing in particular.

"Did you find out about the dagger I had given you back then in Mazic?"

Elias really wished that he had an otherwise answer but he didn’t so he had to say

"No, Your Highness. The people were sent to ask around in Zamorin as well...However, no information could be gathered about the sign on the dagger."

The dagger had an eagle drawn on it. Such daggers carrying a mark were usually carried out by people of an organization. Hence, Regan had a guess that Arthur had some sort of organization under him or perhaps he was part of some organization that could be under Prince William who was hiding.

Regan had thought that if he found out any clue about this organization then it would be easy to prove that Arthur was not here to help Alfaros.

However...

Regan’s lips were pressed in a thin line and his eyes were cold as he opened his mouth and said

"We have not found out where he goes, we have not found about that dagger, we have also not found out how he got to know that Evelyn was living here...in this Palace. Till now, we have not been able to find out anything about him. Great!"

Elias stayed silent but his lower head expressed how shameful he was feeling.

However, Regan’s anger was not pointed towards him.

His anger was on himself. He was actually feeling frustrated now. Because Arthur was proving to be more mysterious than he had thought.

At the same time, it made him apprehensive because he was not getting to know anything about his next moves.

What if Arthur tried something and he would not have any inkling of what would happen? In that case, he would not be ready to face Arthur’s attack and he might lose Evelyn.

No!

Regan stopped himself then and there.

"I want to know about the men being trained in Mazic. Increase the pace at which they are being trained. I want them to be finished in a month."

Elias almost protested.

How could the training that is still left for three months training be completed within a month?

The trained soldiers on the border had their training for a whole year but they had already reduced it to five months because they needed soldiers in Mazic’s castle.

Now only slightly more than a month has passed since they started training those men.

Elias was worried that the less skilled soldiers would only prove to be doom for them.

Regan could understand what Elias was thinking so he said

"We need them here, Elias. Write a letter and ask Henry to send the soldiers here as soon as their training finishes. I will train them myself ...but for that, they need to be here."

Elias understood immediately and nodded his head.

"It will be done, Your Highness."

Regan was still staring out of the window. He was deep in thought. Just when Elias was wondering if his master had some other work for him, he heard the prince say

"Evelyn did mention his parents, didn’t she?"

Elias nodded his head.

"Yes, Your Highness."

Regan’s eyes narrowed infinitesimally and he said coldly

"Find out where are his parents. They must know something about him which can help us."

"Yes, Your Highness."

Regan was about to leave after this but Elias suddenly called him out.

"Your Highness..."

Regan stopped and turned to look at him.

Elias was hesitant before he finally dared to ask

"Your Highness...you and Evelyn..."

Elias was still feeling confused about what he saw. He had accepted the fact that his master and Evelyn were now married. But he was aware that this marriage was just a pretense and it was to save Evelyn from Arthur.

But what he saw a few moments ago... confused him completely.

On the other hand, Regan looked at Elias calmly and said in an equally calm voice

"I don’t think I need to tell you how you are supposed to respect my wife."

Elias’ eyes widened immediately. Now Elias was not that fool that he couldn’t understand the meaning behind his master’s words which were said so directly.

That meant that his master accepted Evelyn as his wife.

Though Elias was shocked, he composed himself and said respectfully.

"Yes, Your Highness I understand."

Regan nodded his head in satisfaction and left finally.

The next morning was the banquet so Lady Irwin and Lady Bennett suggested Evelyn to rest early.

"A good rest will make Your Highness’s face glow..."

Lady Bennett smiled as she said these words.

Lady Irwin nodded her head in agreement. Then she looked at Evelyn and suddenly said something in a very serious voice

"It would be good if Your Highness won’t do any strenuous exercise for tonight and just have a good sleep."

Evelyn was confused for a moment because she didn’t understand Lady Irwin’s words.

What kind of strenuous exercise she could do at night except for slee....

Her eyes widened suddenly as realization dawned on her and her cheeks were immediately covered with a red hue. Now she couldn’t tell Lady Irwin that there was nothing like that between her and the prince so she nodded her head stiffly and said

"I understand, Lady Irwin."

Lady Irwin also nodded her head in return and left the garden with Lady Bennett.

Evelyn patted her warm cheeks with her palm and turned around, still feeling embarrassed. However, she was surprised to see a figure standing in front of her as soon as she turned around.

Regan had a very innocent expression on his face as he looked at Evelyn and asked

"Evelyn, what was Lady Irwin talking about?"

Evelyn’s eyes widened when she heard his words.

Did he hear Lady Irwin?

"N...nothing."

She stuttered out but Regan seemed to be hell-bent on knowing.

"I heard something regarding strenuous exercise..."

Blush started to cover Evelyn’s cheeks again and she could their warmth. She closed her eyes for a moment and said

"Your Highness, I have some work."

And then she ran away from there as fast as she could.

Left alone inside the garden, Regan chuckled as well as sighed.

He wondered for just how long she would run away like this. As much as he liked her shyness, he would like it if she would be slightly bold with her feelings.
