The Masked prince
Chapter 160: The Marriage

Chapter 160: The Marriage

For Evelyn, everything happened in a daze after that.

Even when a maid entered her room with a beautiful gown, she couldn’t believe that she was going to marry the prince.

She sat in front of the mirror silently as the maid readied her.

What was the need for all this?

Evelyn who was going to marry someone for the third time in her life wondered.

She had married twice before and she had never worn such a beautiful gown both the time. Did they not just need to sign a paper that would announce them married legally?

However, the maid said that everything has been prepared by the prince. So Evelyn didn’t refuse and let herself be a puppet for some time as the maid did this and that on her face.

The maid actually looked more excited than her.

"Ah...My Lady looks so beautiful! Your Highness will not be able to move his eyes away when he would see My Lady."

The maid clasped her hands against her cheek and looked at Evelyn with dreamy eyes. Evelyn opened her eyes and looked in the mirror. For a moment, she herself was dumbfounded as if she was unable to recognize herself.

Because the girl in the mirror looked too beautiful!

She couldn’t help but raise her hand to touch her cheek as if ensuring that it was she only.

At the same time, someone knocked at the door, and the maid

went to open it. Seeing Prince Rex standing outside, she bowed her head once before she stepped aside to let him enter the room.

"Evelyn, are you ready?"

Rex asked when he stepped inside the room.

Evelyn immediately stood up and turned around.

"Woah!"

Rex spoke up when he saw her. The next moment, he smiled goofily as he said

"You looked beautiful...just like a bride."

Which she was.

Rex shook his head as he laughed wondering what will happen to Regan after seeing his beautiful bride.

Evelyn didn’t know if she was supposed to thank Rex for the compliment. Everything suddenly looked so confusing.

"Should we leave now?"

Rex asked with a gentle smile on his lips and Evelyn looked at him in confusion. Seeing her confusion, Rex continued to smile and said

"Since there is no one on your family’s side, I will walk you down the aisle as your brother. Generally, it is something that a father does...but I am too young to be a father of a bride."

The maid giggled when she heard Rex’s words and Rex passed a beautiful smile to her making her blush.

Evelyn blinked as surprise filled her eyes.

"Brother..."

She whispered to herself.

The prince would do something someone from her

family was supposed to do. Rex walked to Evelyn not noticing her reaction and signed her to hold his arm. Evelyn did ...very hesitantly.

As they exited the room, her body was slightly stiff, her throat dry and her heart pounded inside her chest as if it would jump out any second.

Weirdly, she had not felt like this when she had married before. Neither with Oliver nor with Arthur...where there was no chance of happening all this.

In the former moments, she was very naïve and in the latter, she was too shocked to comprehend everything.

But today she knew what marriage meant.

But was she not aware of the purpose behind this marriage as well? Nothing was real.

So there was no need to worry, was there?

But as they climbed down the stairs and Evelyn saw the decorated living hall, she gasped slightly.

Her eyes then went to the figure standing in the center of the hall. Just at that moment, the figure turned around and Evelyn’s lips parted slightly seeing the prince in the beautiful robes.

And his red eyes were fixed at her.

She didn’t know why but she couldn’t look into them for long because they seemed too intense suddenly.

Evelyn lowered her head immediately as she climbed down the stairs holding Rex’s arm slowly and slowly.

Rex stopped and Evelyn could sense that she was now standing close to Regan. Her breathing was suddenly very fast.

"Keep her happy."

Evelyn raised her head when she heard Rex’s words. She saw a very serious expression on his face as he looked at the prince.

Without looking at her, Rex continued

"I have walked her down the aisle as her brother. Regan, even though we are brothers, if you hurt her one day then I won’t let you go without suffering the same."

Regan looked at Rex and nodded his head and Rex finally passed Evelyn’s hand to him.

Evelyn whose hand was held by Regan frowned slightly as she wondered when the marriage was not real, why did Prince Rex say these words?

Unaware she was because the marriage was very much real in Rex and Regan’s eyes.

Regan felt that Evelyn’s hands were very cold. He sighed as he looked at her lowered head and asked

"Scared?"

Evelyn raised her head and looked into his eyes when she heard his question. She licked her lips not noticing how his attention was immediately drawn to them.

He looked away for a moment and took a deep breath before looking at her again. His eyes however flashed with amusement when he saw her first shaking her head in response to his question and then nodding her head.

Regan only held Evelyn’s hand more firmly as if trying to pass her some warmth. Looking into her green eyes, he whispered gently.

"Evelyn, in this marriage... you will never be forced to do something you don’t wish to do."

He knows that her previous marriage with Oliver was still a shadow in her heart. Regan realized that only after she had left his room saying ’yes’.

He had actually felt slightly guilty.

But then he thought that using this marriage, they could get closer to each other. He could show his feelings to Evelyn more openly.

And perhaps one day she would even accept them.
