The Masked prince -
Chapter 159: Evelyn Agrees
Chapter 159: Evelyn Agrees
There was nothing but silence inside the room.
Rex was still able to compose himself. Perhaps because he was already aware of his brother’s feelings towards Evelyn so he knew that this day would come sooner or later.
It was Elias who was still unable to compose himself.
He and Evelyn were also the ones who had shouted out the loudest ’what’ after Regan’s suggestion.
Elias had looked at his master in horror as if he never imagined that one day would come when his master would have to marry as well.
And Evelyn...her face was especially pale as if thinking that mere thing was a sin itself for her.
Regan didn’t pay attention to Elias of course. His attention was on Evelyn who had such a pale face.
Regan sighed bitterly. He had never thought that one day a girl would look so pale at the thought of marrying him. Even if he had a scar on his face, the beauties sent by his father were very persistent in seducing
him. After all, he was a Royal Prince.
Even if he was the ugliest person in this world, there would still be someone who would wish to be with him even if it would only be because of greed.
However, Evelyn didn’t care about his status. Or perhaps she did and that’s why she was so pale.
Hence, Regan looked at Rex and the latter immediately dragged the dumbfounded Elias out of the room.
"Your Highness..."
Evelyn whispered when they were alone inside the room but she couldn’t continue.
She wondered what she is supposed to say.
Could she refuse the suggestion offered by the prince? Did she have the right to do so? But she also
didn’t seem to have the right to marry a Royal Prince. Her background didn’t give her such a privilege.
"Are you scared?"
Regan asked calmly as he sat beside her but still marinating a respectful distance.
Evelyn nodded her head in a daze.
Regan looked at her silently for a few seconds and then stated
"If you marry me, Arthur would lost all his rights as your husband on you. But if you don’t wish to do so, then you can say so. I will think of some other plan before tomorrow morning. Don’t worry, whatever you will decide, I will keep you safe from him."
Evelyn stared at him on hearing his words.
"What other plans?"
She couldn’t help but ask. She needed to be in Royal Court today. Arthur had their marriage certificate and she was no longer a slave.
Nothing else could save her.
When she saw that the prince was silent, she knew that what she thought was true.
Yet he was trying to give her a choice.
Her heart was beating fast inside her chest as the prince’s words kept ringing in her ears. She blinked and lowered her head wondering why the prince was so considerate to her.
Just because she saved his life?
Perhaps Regan didn’t like to see her like this. He had expected her to be scared but he had not expected her to be this scared on hearing his plan. So he said immediately bit calmly
"We can postpone this."
Instead of cancelling, Regan used the word postponed. His words were indicative and even Evelyn found them weird. Because his words indicated that in the future, it would happen one day.
However, Regan didn’t give Evelyn much time to ponder on this and said still in a calm voice
"We can run away without letting anyone know."
Evelyn’s eyes widened when she heard this and she blurted out
"For how long we can run?"
"As long as he doesn’t stop looking for you."
Regan stated and Evelyn shook her head in a daze.
As much as she was aware of Arthur’s craziness, he won’t ever stop. He had been looking for her for more than ten years...something which she had not expected.
It already expressed just how persistent he was in this hide and seek game.
And Regan was a prince. He had responsibilities on his shoulders. How could she expect him to continue running away with him!
If only she was able to save herself! Evelyn thought helplessly. But evidentially, Arthur was very powerful to know where she was living in Royal City.
"You can decide. Take your time."
Regan said gently and then he left the room. A large part of his heart actually wished that Evelyn would say yes to marry him.
That’s why he decided to leave because he didn’t wish to say anything which would result in her feel pressurized to marry him.
Though he wished to marry her, he didn’t wish to be completely selfish. He would respect her will even if she declined.

On the other hand, Regan walked around the palace for some time. When he returned to his room, he found Rex seated on the bed and waiting for him. He closed the door and walked towards the bed and sat beside Rex. Rex was silent for a long time before he asked him
"Regan, It is not that I don’t wish that you marry Evelyn. I know that you like her and you want to save her from Arthur. But ...marriage with Evelyn...you are aware what consequences it would bring for you, right?"
"Yes"
Regan looked at Rex and said calmly.
Rex didn’t know if he should stop Regan after hearing this. He had thought that they could raise Evelyn’s status slowly and slowly and finally Regan would be able to marry her.
But the circumstances didn’t allow that to happen.
Just when he was lost in his thoughts, someone knocked on the door of the room.

Evelyn stayed inside her room on the bed for almost an hour.
Exactly an hour later, she exited to her room and knocked on the door of Regan’s room.
When Regan opened the door, Evelyn could see that Rex was also inside the room.
And the prince had a very serious expression on his face
Evelyn suddenly felt slightly embarrassed but when she remembered the purpose behind this marriage, she felt calm and said in an equally calm voice.
"Your Highness, I am ready to marry you."
