"B..but how? Didn’t Your Highness say that this palace was unknown to everyone?"

That’s why she had been thinking that she was safe here. But how did Arthur get to know that she was living here?

"That’s the truth."

Rex said answering Evelyn’s question and then looked at Evelyn silently. Evelyn didn’t know the meaning behind his gaze but she still said

"Your Highness, I never stepped out from here. In fact, I stepped out of my room today only."

"We know, Evelyn."

Regan said immediately and looked at Rex who sighed and looked away from Evelyn. He didn’t blame Evelyn. But he just thought that maybe she had stepped out of the Palace and Arthur got to know.

After all, many people couldn’t stay inside a room for long.

But he could also see that Evelyn was not lying. Rex frowned in confusion because Arthur was looking more and more mysterious with every passing day.

Almost half an hour later, Rex, Regan, and Elias were inside Evelyn’s room where Rex was asking Elias again if he had seen anyone stepping out of the Palace.

But Elias only shook his head.

In other words, no one went out of the Palace.

Regan was silent for a long time now. Rex finally noticed this and asked him

"Regan, what are you thinking?"

Regan raised his head and instead of looking at Rex, he looked towards Evelyn and said

"Evelyn, he knows that you are no longer a slave."

Evelyn was already very scared that Arthur knew about her being here but when she heard Regan’s words, her heart sank inside her chest.

"H...He knows?"

Her throat was suddenly dry because she understood the meaning behind this.

She no longer wondered how Arthur knew about this. Evelyn thought that she had been right. Arthur was always powerful in front of her.

He could do anything to lay his claims on her and she like a helpless girl would have to give in.

If she was not Regan’s slave then she was Arthur’s wife...which she didn’t wish to be. However, who was even asking her about her will?

Evelyn suddenly felt fear filling her heart and tears filled her eyes. She didn’t wish to be weak but Arthur was perhaps the only thing she feared in this world.

She didn’t fear death but she was afraid of Arthur.

Perhaps that’s why she suddenly walked to Regan and kneeled down in front of him.

"Your Highness, can you make me your slave again?"

If to stop Arthur, she would have to become a slave again, and Evelyn didn’t mind that. Yes, she would be slightly unhappy and feel stifled inside her heart. After all, she had gained independence after so many years of slavery.

But being Arthur’s wife was more dreading than anything.

Regan was surprised by her reaction and immediately held her hand to make her stand. When he saw that she was crying, he frowned.

He pulled her hand and made her sit on the bed. After this, he asked her in an emotionless voice.

"Do you think that I freed you to make you my slave again?"

Regan would never want to see that black band on Evelyn’s wrist again so somewhere he felt angry upon hearing Evelyn’s words. But when he saw her face, his heart softened instantly.

Evelyn’s tears fell more fiercely because she thought that Regan didn’t wish to accept her as his slave.

Then what should she do?

Should she just die? The thought had crossed her mind many times but the promise she had made to Oliver would always stop her.

Oliver wanted her to live a long life even if he was not there with her.

However, what should she do when Arthur would not leave her life livable for her?

Rex looked at Regan with reprimanding gaze but Regan ignored him. He could actually understand Evelyn’s fears.

It was always like this. A child if is bitten by a dog in their childhood, would fear the dog for his entire life. Then Evelyn suffered much more because of Arthur and his family as a child.

Having her heart scarred for life was understandable.

However, he couldn’t let her fall weak every time. He could give her time but she should be making efforts to hold her strength in the time she was being given.

After all, the woman he loved was not this weak.

She was fearless enough to stand in the arena in front of forty lions and still think of how she could save herself! She could stand in front of him and take the sword on her body without caring for any pain!

Evelyn was strong and she was supposed to be stronger. And he needed to make her realize this by becoming her strength.

Regan didn’t know if he was being selfish but at that moment, he could only think of one solution to the problems they were facing.

Evelyn’s fears as well Arthur!

He looked into Evelyn’s tear-filled eyes and said suddenly

"I won’t accept you as my slave. However, I have another solution. If we do this, Arthur would not have any right to claim you as his wife. Also, no one will be able to support him."

Evelyn looked at Regan with the same tear-filled green eyes which were filled with confusion now.

What kind of solution did he have!

Even Rex and Elias were confused. But before anyone could say anything, Evelyn said firmly

"I will do anything Your Highness says. But I don’t wish to be that man. I would rather die than be his wife."

"Good."

Regan said calmly.

After that, he looked at Rex and Elias and said in an equally calm voice.

"The two of you are responsible for all the preparations. Everything should be done by evening itself."

Rex and Elias were more confused by these words. Just when Rex was about to ask Regan what he meant to say, his younger brother dropped a bomb on him

"I and Evelyn will marry each other."
