Chapter 157: Derrick Orders Evelyn’s Presence

Derrick was angry at Arthur. However, after seeing how both of his sons had gone silent after what Arthur said, he couldn’t show his anger.

Because he understood from their reactions that they had indeed lied.

Now Derrick was angry at his sons. Were they fool?

Both of them were lying for a mere slave in front of all these ministers. Were they not afraid to destroy their image?

It made him wonder what kind of slave this Evelyn was to make his sons behave like this.

Derrick knew that he needed to step in and interfere otherwise his sons would mess up everything. Hence, he opened his mouth and ordered coldly.

"Regan, tomorrow that slave should be here...in Royal Court. It is my order."

Regan frowned and wanted to speak against Derrick but Derrick knew it very well so he didn’t give him any chance. It was not that he was unwilling to hear Regan.

Even if Regan was angry, he would like to hear his son talking to him. Knowing how their relationship was, he was happy in this only. However, he knew that if the ministers saw Regan speaking against him, the King then they will never agree with Regan ascending the throne after him.

Hence, as soon as he finished speaking to Regan, he said coldly

"Today the assembly is adjourned here."

And after that, he climbed down the stairs of the throne and left Royal Court hurriedly.

Regan and Rex looked at their father’s back with perplexed expressions on their faces. A moment later, they looked at each other and shook their heads.

How could they not understand what did Derrick do just now?

Regan’s eyes went to the ministers sitting inside the court and he frowned deeply. Such narrow-minded ministers didn’t deserve to sit in Royal Court.

However, there were more huge problems on his hands now so he couldn’t deal with them.

He glanced at Arthur one last time who smiled at him when he saw Regan looking towards him. This time his smile didn’t hold any respect. Instead, it was filled with mockery.

Needless to say, earlier whatever respect was there in his eyes was merely a pretense.

Regan stared at Arthur coldly for a few moments before Rex dragged him away from the Royal court worrying that he would start sparring with Arthur then and there.

No one noticed how Raphael was looking at Arthur with interest-filed eyes.

Riding on Lavo’s back, both of them flew towards the palace where they were living in for the past two days.

None of them said a single word on the way. It looked as if both of them were wondering what they were supposed to do to save Evelyn tomorrow.

As Arthur said, if Evelyn was not a slave anymore then as her husband he could claim his rights over her. She would need to go back to him as he wished.

With this, they were also wondering just how Arthur got to know where Evelyn was.

"I think that we have one of his people amongst us...who is giving him all this information."

Rex spoke up as soon as they landed on the roof.

Lavo flew away soon after when he saw that Regan was not calling Evelyn for him. Hence, only Rex and Regan were left there.

Regan, however, shook his head when he heard Rex’s words and said

"I don’t think so."

They have brought only five people with them. One of them was a maid chosen by Martha herself who cooked the food and the other four just did chores around the Palace and kept an eye to ensure that no stranger would enter the Palace.

"The person can be amongst the five people we have brought from Mazic, Regan."

However, Regan again shook his head and said

"All of them had been working in Mazic’s Palace not less than ten years. I had intentionally asked Martha to send such people because I didn’t wish to take any chance. Even if we ignore this, did you see anyone of them stepping out of our sight? You were here the whole day and before that, I had been keeping eye on each one of them. Elias was also here. And Arthur didn’t look as if he got to know about Evelyn’s whereabouts only today. There is something else."

Rex couldn’t deny what Regan said.

But if it was not those people then who could it be?

"Your Highness!"

Rex and Regan came out of their trance when they heard the voice and looked toward Evelyn who was standing a few steps away.

"How did it go?!"

She asked only one question and she was breathing heavily. It seemed that she came running there as soon as she heard Lavo’s growl.

Regan’s eyes were filled with distress when he saw her like this. He stepped forward and took out the handkerchief from his robe. But just when he was about to move his hand towards Evelyn’s forehead to wipe the sweat, Rex coughed and Regan immediately passed the handkerchief to Evelyn.

After that, he glanced at Rex who shook his head while looking at him.

Rex also understood that Evelyn must be having trauma after whatever she went through. His brother needs to make some special efforts to win her heart and make her fall in love with him.

Evelyn was confused when she saw the handkerchief presented to her and looked at the prince.

"Wipe your forehead."

She blinked when she heard his words and held the handkerchief in a daze. After wiping it, she suddenly frowned as if displeased with herself.

How could she use the prince’s handkerchief! But she had already used it so she decided to wash it and return it to him later on.

And she was more concerned about other matters at that moment.

"Your Highness, what happened in the Royal Palace?"

Evelyn was not told anything by Regan but she was aware that it was related to her. Perhaps because she knew that Arthur was not going to give up so easily.

Rex and Regan looked at each other as if they were silently asking each other whether they should tell Evelyn everything.

Regan didn’t wish to let Evelyn worry but Rex thought that now it was impossible to hide anything. Hence, before Regan could speak he said to Evelyn

"He knows that you are living here...in this Palace, Evelyn."

And Evelyn’s eyes widened when she heard this.
