Chapter 131: Meeting The Younger Brother

"Mother, I want to stay alone. Please leave."

Oliver’s stiff voice came as soon as Evelyn stepped inside the room.

He had thought that it was his mother who had come inside the room. He frowned deeply. He had wanted to lock the door because he was not in the mood of talking to his mother.

But then he thought that if he locked the door then he would increase his mother’s worry. Already at the age of fourteen, Oliver knew that his mother’s worries has increased since his accident and he didn’t wish to overburden her. But sometimes his mother was too much.

Evelyn lowered her head. She was slightly scared.

She had not talked to Gianna’s two children up till now. Though they didn’t look bad, Evelyn had an inherent fear of the big children than her. Back then in the tribe, she used to be bullied by her cousins with their friends who were always taller and bigger than her.

However, she could also not see Gianna upset.

Gathering her courage, she put the plate on the bed and said

"It’s not Mother. It is me....My name is Evelyn. Please have lunch."

Evelyn talked very politely as if she was afraid to anger Oliver any further. Oliver was surprised when he heard this voice.

The next moment, he turned to look at the younger girl and his eyes were suddenly filled with something complicated.

Under his constant gaze, Evelyn felt nervous as she wondered if this was some other way of bullying her.

But Oliver felt amused.

Was she scared of him? But why? He had never behaved rudely with her. And if she was scared then why did she come here?

The question made him ask

"What are you doing here?"

Evelyn frowned in response and answered naturally

"Because you didn’t have lunch."

The answer made Olive raise his brow in surprise. He picked up his stick and then walked to her. Evelyn’s eyes couldn’t help but go to his legs and she suddenly remembered Gianna’s words.

Oliver saw her eyes on his legs and felt slightly uncomfortable. However, when he saw that her eyes held only curiousness and no mockery and pity, he relaxed

Seeing her bright green eyes and the plate she had put on the bed, he suddenly tapped her nose and asked

"What does it have to do with you? If I have lunch or not?"

She was a very cute girl. Oliver couldn’t help but think when she blinked as if confused by his gesture. The girl even rubbed her nose and looked at him with a frown.

It made him want to tap her nose again and again. Surprised by his weird urge, Oliver scolded himself but was interrupted when he heard the girl say

"Mother is upset. If you won’t have lunch, she also won’t have it."

The response made Oliver sigh.

He suddenly sat down on the bed and stared at nothing in particular. He was not planning to eat anything. If by doing so, his mother could agree to send his brother to the school then it would be good.

The next moment, he looked at Evelyn and said calmly.

"Take it back. I won’t have lunch."

Evelyn frowned rather deeply when she heard this. Oliver could see that she really loved his mother and it warmed his heart.

She was such a sensible girl.

The girl stared at him for a second and then asked

"Why?"

The answer to the question was a little complicated and Oliver didn’t know if she would be able to understand so he said simply.

"Because my younger brother didn’t eat anything."

Evelyn’s frown deepened when she heard this.

That was a long chain. Gianna didn’t eat because Oliver didn’t eat and Oliver didn’t eat because that younger boy didn’t eat.

She didn’t even know his name because no one seemed to have introduced her to him.

But after Oliver said this, Evelyn picked up the plate and silently left the room. Oliver looked at her until she locked the door.

However, never had he expected that after leaving his room, Evelyn would go to his younger brother’s room.

If Oliver had known that he would have never said to Evelyn what he had said. Because he and his family were aware of his younger brother’s temper but Evelyn was not.

Evelyn knocked on the door but she didn’t get any response. The next moment, she just pushed the door with one hand and stepped inside with the plate in her hands.

She saw him sitting on his chair and reading a book.

He didn’t even raise his head to look at her. Evelyn didn’t mind. She walked to him, stood by his side, and then said

"Hello, my name is Evelyn."

She introduced herself as she thought that he still didn’t know her name.

The boy however still didn’t raise his head. Evelyn frowned but then she put the plate filled with food on his study table and said

"Please have lunch. You must be hungry."

She wondered why these boys would miss lunch. Don’t they feel hungry? She also had breakfast in the morning but she was feeling hungry again.

The boy finally raised his head and looked at her. His eyes however didn’t hold any softness like Oliver’s. Without even glancing at the plate, he said to Evelyn coldly

"Get out."

Evelyn flinched when she heard his voice.

She instantly took a step back and stared at him with fear-filled eyes. However, she didn’t leave. She stared at him for a few seconds and when she saw that he didn’t raise his hand to hit her, she sighed in relief.

As long as he would not hit her, she would stay and ensure that he would have his lunch. Gianna had given her so much. She also wanted to do something for her.

But Evelyn could also see that this boy was not as soft as Oliver. So she thought for some time and asked him

"Is it because Mother didn’t allow you to go to school?"

The boy didn’t give any response. He didn’t even raise his head to look at her and continued reading his book.

But when Evelyn suddenly said

"I promise you that you will be able to go to school. Can you have lunch now?"

It was then the boy finally raised his head and looked at Evelyn.

The girl seems to be daring for her own good.
