Chapter 116: A Very Important Guest

Evelyn had fallen asleep finally and Regan carefully made her leave his hand.

He blew off the candle that was placed on the bedside and then walked out of the chambers. Rex was waiting for him there.

"Regan!"

Rex called out as soon as he saw him.

"The two men I had sent to investigate Evelyn’s background had returned. They have found out something which I think we should know."

Regan frowned when he heard Rex. It was visible that he didn’t like that Rex was so suspicious of Evelyn.

He trusted Evelyn with his whole heart.

Rex could also see this. But he still continued

"Evelyn has a husband, Regan!"

He said as if he was hoping that Regan would finally try to stay away from Evelyn. Regan’s eyes went cold when he heard Rex. His fists clenched unconsciously when he remembered the man inside Evelyn’s room.

"I know."

He said leaving Rex slightly baffled.

"How do you know?"

"He entered Evelyn’s room."

Regan said coldly giving Rex another shock.

"He entered castle? Where is he, Regan?"

Regan frowned as he didn’t understand Rex’s reaction. Still, he answered his question

"In the cell."

Rex heaved a sigh of relief for a moment. It was good. That was where he is supposed to be.

"Regan, you don’t know who he is...he is..."

Rex was about to tell the truth to Regan when Henry suddenly appeared there and said to Regan and Rex

"Your Highness, Royal soldiers are here and they wish to meet Your Highness urgently."

Regan and Rex, both of them were confused.

"What are they doing here?"

Rex asked Henry as he started to walk to the castle gates with Regan.

Henry shook his head as he spoke

"I have no idea, Your Highness. They even have a noble minister with them."

Regan was also confused but he didn’t forget about Evelyn amidst all this. The first maid he came across on his way, he sent her to his chambers and asked her to inform him if Evelyn suddenly woke up.

Only then he walked ahead with Rex.

When they reached the castle gates, a man immediately approached them. Indeed, the man was a noble minister and Rex immediately recognized him.

"Minister Travis, what are you doing here?"

Travis bowed his head to greet Rex and Regan. After completing the greetings, he said hurriedly

"Your Highness, did you by any chance have captured a man very recently?"

Regan frowned deeply as he looked at Minister Travis and Rex didn’t look any different.

"Why do you ask this?"

Regan asked Travis directly. Travis was slightly nervous as he was talking to Regan for the first time. Before this, he had only heard rumors about him which said that he was very ruthless.

"That...Your Highness, we are looking for someone and that man happens to be a very important guest. It is just a few hours ago that we realized his disappearance and his people told me that he has been captured by Your Highness."

Regan and Rex couldn’t help but glance at each other. Out of the two, Regan was more surprised because he still was not aware of many things that Rex had come to know of.

It was Rex who asked Travis the next question

"A very important guest...could Minister Travis tell me who he is?"

Travis didn’t think there was anything wrong in saying the truth so he said

"Your Highness, actually he is a very close aid to Prince William. It is just a few weeks ago that he presented himself to us and offered to help us in finding Prince William. His Majesty was happy with his will of surrendering himself so when this person suddenly requested that he wishes to find someone in Alfaros, His Majesty granted his wish but sent me with him to ensure that everything would go alright."

By the time, Travis finished not only Regan but even Rex was shocked.

"How could he believe someone so easily?"

Regan asked out in exasperation. Anyone could guess that he was referring to the king. Except, for Rex, everyone who heard Regan looked baffled.

Travis tried to compose himself and defended the King.

"Your Highness, he has indeed provided us with great information. That’s why only His Majesty trusted him."

Regan, however, still looked as if he was doubting the king’s intelligence.

Rex thought the same. It was sheer stupidity to invite an enemy to your house and then give him such freedom.

Minster Travis was a wise man. He knew that he couldn’t change anyone’s thoughts so he decided to go ahead with what he had come here for.

"It would be a great help if you could let me check your prisons once. I would leave after ensuring that he is not here."

Regan looked at Travis coldly when he heard him.

"Why do you think that I will let you do that? It is my city. If he is inside the cell, then he did something to bestow upon himself such a thing."

Travis frowned when he heard Regan. He looked at Rex for some help but Rex also stayed silent.

Seeing this, he could only say

"Then, Your Highness I would need to force my way inside because I have been given this responsibility to ensure his safety."

"And you must be a fool to think that you can get inside with me standing here?"

Regan smiled coldly as he said that.

His eyes went to the Royal soldiers standing behind Travis.

They looked to be fifty in number but that was no problem for him. He could manage all of them alone.

Travis could sense this and he swallowed in nervousness.

He was silent for a moment before he said

"Your Highness might not let me inside today but I will go back to Royal Court and come back here with King’s decree then will Your Highness be able to stop me?"

Regan still smiled coldly.

And his smile was enough of an answer to Travis. Travis frowned ...quite deeply.

He didn’t like Regan’s attitude. He had already said that the man was of huge importance to them. As a Royal Prince, he should understand and help him.

Instead, he was behaving so arrogantly.

"Then, I will go back and bring His Majesty’s order for Your Highness."

Travis said firmly. He would bring back a larger force and then he would see what Regan would do.

Thinking this, Travis turned around to leave.

However, he had taken only a step when a voice stopped him.

"Stop, Minister Travis."
