Chapter 112: Why Does Evelyn Want To Leave(3)

The woman returned to the yard with warm water and a clean cloth. She placed her husband’s head on her lap and tried to clean his wound.

Fortunately, Elias soon returned with the doctor and the doctor took the task from the woman’s hands.

The man was also brought inside a room by Elias at his master’s order.

The woman was very grateful to both of them. After the doctor had treated her husband’s wound and given her an ointment cream to apply to it, he left. Regan paid him instead of the woman.

The woman was again grateful to him.

The doctor left after taking his fees and the woman looked at Regan again. She seemed to have something to say and finally asked

"It could be that I am mistaken but are you His Highness, Prince Regan?"

The mask on Regan’s face was exactly like people described and seeing his cape and clothes the woman couldn’t help but have this doubt.

Regan was silent for a moment before he nodded his head and said

"Yes"

The woman went stiff for a moment before she smiled humbly and said

"So it is Your Highness. I didn’t even get the chance to welcome Your Highness."

Though she tried to speak calmly, she was still very nervous. It was after all a prince who was standing in front of her.

Regan looked calm and he said honestly

"We had come here to meet your husband."

"My husband?"

The woman asked in confusion. Regan merely nodded his head in ’yes’ and then asked

"Does your husband have enmity with someone who would want his life?"

The woman shook his head immediately and her eyes were wide as if she was surprised by the question itself.

"No, not at all. My husband is a very simple-minded person. He helps everyone. He has many friends and no enemies."

The woman suddenly stopped speaking and then continued

"However, today he kept grumbling about a man in the market. He was saying that a crazy man suddenly held a girl in front of his shop. The girl was so scared and he had to get many people’s help to free the girl. He even said that the man looked especially angry when he found that the girl had run away and threatened him..."

The woman’s face went pale and she stopped speaking completely.

Regan’s eyes were also sharp and Elias looked slightly surprised.

"Is it possible that the same man tried to hurt your husband?"

Elias asked and the woman only shook her head as she whispered

"I don’t know. How is it possible? How did he know where our home is and ..."

The woman actually looked scared as she said all this.

Regan looked at Elias indicating for him to stay silent. He looked at the woman and said calmly

"Don’t worry. Soldiers will be sent to guard you and your husband. No one will be able to harm both of you."

The woman immediately bowed her head and looked ready to kneel down but Regan told her that there was no need for that.

It was after all his duty to protect Mazic’s people.

The shopkeeper was still unconscious so they couldn’t talk to him.

Regan could only leave the house with Elias.

Outside the house, two soldiers who had gone to follow the running man were waiting.

"We couldn’t catch him, Your Highness."

They said with lowered heads.

Regan didn’t say anything but his eyes were cold.

His fists were clenched so tightly that his knuckles went white.

Who was this man? He was certainly not that simple.

Otherwise, why would Evelyn feel so scared to suddenly see him and he even dared to attack the shopkeeper?

Regan’s eyes were very cold.

Before leaving, he asked the two soldiers to stay at the same house and protect the man and his wife.

After that, he looked at Elias and showed him the dagger he had found

"Find out where this dagger was made."

The eagle on the dagger’s handle looked very conspicuous. Elias took the dagger and looked at it with a frown on his forehead. He understood what his master was saying.

Such daggers were usually possessed by men from secret organizations. The eagle on the dagger could be a sign of this organization.

After that, he returned to the castle.

Once inside the castle, Regan found Rex waiting for him. Rex was standing in the corridor waiting for him with his hands folded on his chest.

"What did you find out?"

He asked as he knew from where Regan was coming.

Regan told him everything that happened at the shop keeper’s house. After hearing everything, even Rex didn’t look so calm anymore.

"Killing someone for something like this...is he crazy?"

Rex whispered and Regan stayed silent. However, his cold eyes showed clearly that he agreed with Rex.

The next moment, he walked past Rex. Seeing this, Rex followed him and asked

"Where are you going?"

It was not the direction of Regan’s chambers.

"To Evelyn’s room."

Regan said as he walked in long strides.

He would ask Evelyn face-to-face what the matter was. Why she was so scared? Who was this man and how he knew her?

If this man could kill someone for such a small thing then ...perhaps Evelyn’s fears were very valid.

But what had he done to Evelyn to make her so scared that she ran away at his mere sight?

Somewhere Regan’s heart said that it was something that didn’t wish to find out ever. Evelyn’s pain would hurt him a lot.

Perhaps that’s why a large part of his heart wished that it was nothing. That he was just overthinking.

That the man who attacked the shopkeeper was just an enemy the shop keeper didn’t know about.

However, Regan soon realized that what he hoped was not the truth.

Because as soon as he opened the door, the scene in front of him filled his heart with nothing but wrath.
